We love sitting at the bar and visiting with the bartender. Dumplings are fabulous!
Our server Brian was outstanding. This was not our first visit to Merlion. Brian was professional and friendly, and when asked helped us determine our wine, entrée selection and the heat level. He was attentive without being annoying. The food was remarkable as always. Highly recommend this spot if you love true Thai.
One of our favorite places in the area. Never disappoints. Mussels are a must.
Merlion is one of our favorite restaurants in the clear lake area.
We love this place, it's our favorite restaurant, and it becomes the favorite of almost all of the friends we bring. Merlion's has never disappointed us--except when we can't get in because everyone else loves it as much as we do!
You can expect to wait a little while for your meal at this place, but it’s worth it. Every dish is made fresh when you order it. The food is outstanding and the service was fantastic. This is a small, locally owned business that puts lots of love into the food and it shines. We love it here!!!!
The Yelp reviews did not steer me wrong. Merlion had great food and atmosphere, but what really stood out was the service. I took my boyfriend for his birthday, and when I informed our waitress Candace, she began to work her magic. She surrounded the candle on our table with real rose petals, brought his desert with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce on the plate, and presented him with a bottle of champagne as a gift. Those were the standout elements, but it's also the little things. He wanted sangria, which wasn't on the menu, but they made it with no problem. When I described what I wanted in a wine, she suggested something that fit the bill perfectly. The fried rice portions were large enought that a I had a second full meal the next day, and the signiagure snapper dish was delicious. It was a wonderful experience and we will most definitely go back.
Great meal, service. Server knowledgeable and engaged.
As always, Merlion didn’t disappoint. We had a corner table, with fresh rose petals... Love, love, love this place. Food is outstanding. We weren’t rushed and allowed to enjoy our evening.
The restaurant was very busy. We waited about 30 minutes for our appetizer and another 20 minutes after that for entree, but server was very attentive throughout. Food was tasty- worth the wait. It was my birthday and was surprised with a delicious celebration bundt cake and bottle of bubbly. Can't wait to go back.
Always amazing - always fantastic and this time was no different.
Excellent food & service. Authentic recipes & flavors.
We absolutely LOVE this restaurant. If you are not in the area, it is well worth the drive. The wine list is EXTENSIVE and the food is wonderful!
We love Merlion! The food is always delicious, the restaurant is cozy, and the service is friendly. Looking forward to the opening of Merlion on Main.
Good food, service a bit slow. We will definitely go back even though pricing was higher than other Thai in the area.
We expected a slow paced dinner but this was extremely slow! The food was outstanding. It was not a very busy night, but the server was not often visible and very slow to take our order. the entrees took so long that one person in our party had to just have theirs packed in to go containers.
Once again Chef Andrew and the staff at Merlion created a wonderful evening and a great celebration of our anniversary. We chose the Chef's table, 5 courses selected by Andrew from on and off menu items (just tell him what you DON'T like). Everything tasted delicious. Sorry we missed Brook - catch you next time lady.
We just happened upon this restaurant when looking for a place to go out late Friday night. It was booked up until 9:00 so that’s when we went. Very charming little house in Seabrook. Friendly staff, owner interacted with guests and personally served us at the bar while we waited to be seated (we arrived early). Our server Ian was extremely helpful in assisting us in choosing what to order. We had the corn cakes appetizer (to die for). Make sure to get a side of peanut sauce with them as suggested by Ian;) I had the green chicken curry and my hubby had Pad Thai with chicken. Both were outstanding, definitely worth the wait for made to order. Very fresh and extremely delicious. Will definitely be back:)
Food here is mediocre and super expensive!!! Has great potential, but when I spend $65 per person plus drinks I expect REALLY good food. It was just ok for me, not worth the money.
Have been going to Merlion's since it was Bay Thai. My wife would help Gabby at the original restaurant when help was needed. We have enjoyed it for many years, look forward to the new restaurant opening.
So let me preface these comments by saying that up to this point Merlion was one of my favorite restaurants in the entire Houston area. I have told several friends that they serve the best Thai food I have ever had outside Asia. Wednesday was frankly disappointing to the extent that I almost asked if they had changed the chef / owner. I understand the pressure to maximize Valentines revenues but you should protect your brand and reputation over making a few extra covers. I am now wondering if this was a one off experience or whether Merlion has truly descended from its prior quality into the abyss.
Wow. Excellent Thai dishes, large wine selection, good service and in Seabrook. I'm so happy this award winning restaurant is on my side of town. We had the Dragon Fire Dumplings, Chicken and Beef Satay, Pad Med Mammuang w/ beef (best overall), Kang Keo Waan w/ beef( green curry) Chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. We had a very happy Valentines day.
Friends from out of town
First of all we had to wait for 1 hour and 20 minutes for the main course to be served. Appetizers came in fast. We ordered the Kang Keo Waan with lamb. Expected the curry, the chilies, the basil and the lomongrass to give the flavour of this dish; unfortunately the coconut milk prevailed. The Pad Pak Man Mun Hoi with beef was too strong on the garlic and too mych salt. The Pad Thai was tasteless. The wine list is extensive, but the way is presented is not user friendly. Needs to be better organized. Have travelled extensively to Thailand for work, this is not Thai cuisine.
Great place. Food and staff are amazing !!
Great dining experience in a relaxing atmosphere. Enjoy great Thai flavors and fresh food experiences.
Merlion is truly a Thai specialty restaurant having a most extensive wine list "by the glass" to accompany any food. The appetizers, salads and entrees are ALL made with taste thrills you won't find in any other restaurant, assuming you can even find one matching Merlion. Go for it and enjoy a fun evening of taste thrills.
Merlion is the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. In my opinion, the best Thai food in the Houston area with some flare added to traditional Thai dishes (curry, etc.) Merlion maintains an excellent wine selection, with wine available by the glass or bottle from many price points and varietals.
Great time, great food, great establishment.
Always a great meal at Merlion. Love this place. Andrew and Brooke are great.
Never disappointed! Our favorite go to for dates❤️
My husband and I eat here frequently. We love the ambiance, the friendly wait staff and most of all the delicious, spicy Thai food. (They can make it mild if you need.) Merlion also has an expansive wine list which has never disappointed.
Wonderful upscale Thai restaurant. One of my favorite restaurants in Houston.
Merlion is a hidden gem in old Seabrook, Tx to many Houstonians. A great venue for Thai food, as mild or as spicy as you want. A great wine list. Atmosphere is great. Highly recommend.
My husband and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Merlion! We've been partaking of Chef Andrew's delicious Thai creations for years and have NEVER been disappointed. The staff is amazing! We've celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries at Merlion and the staff always goes above and beyond!
Everything was amazing as usual. Still my favorite restaurant in the Houston area. Hands down.
I had the Merlion curry with jumbo shrimp and my husband had the lump crab fried rice. My meal was perfect and my husband’s was ok. We were really looking forward to coming here for our wedding anniversary so we made a reservation as recommended. We waited 5 minutes at the bar to be greeted and seated. We then waited 25 more minutes to be greeted by our server. Our server was lovely and attempted to make up for the huge wait time. She even threw in a bottle of complimentary cheap champagne, delicious anniversary cake and a top shelf cordial! Unfortunately, it did not make up for the fact that the whole waitstaff did not acknowledge us for 25 minutes and they were not incredibly busy. We also couldn’t help but notice that a lady at a table seated nearby had a hacking cough and wasn’t covering her mouth at all. This was not a romantic dinner, but the food was pretty good. A simple hello and a glass of water would suffice next time if we recover from our experience and give it another try!
Excellent food. Nothing tasted prepared in advance. Everything fresh and made to order. Noise level could be moderated with a little carpeting, but the place has a cool, cozy vibe and a hometown ambiance. Loved it!
Each of us ranked the meal, service and wine as superb. Waiter was very personable and helpful, and he helped us select a wonder Malbec.
