Merlion Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Wish I could give them 10 stars! Wonderful food, cannot say enough about the service. Just remember this is not a fast food restaurant. It does take time to get your meal but well worth the wait. Cozy setting so plan on having a glass of wine while you visiting with your guest.
Food was fantastic as always. I had ordered the Raad Prick with the soft shell crab. The chef came out and explained that the soft shell crab did not look good and he would not serve it. He immediately offered a substitute. I really appreciated that. The waiter was very attentive and polite. Merlion has never disappointed.
We've eaten there numerous times over the last couple of years and the food is consistently superb. They have a marvelous wine selection too. It's a bit noisy but like most busy restaurants it's survivable so we look forward to the new building in the hope that it will be a little more quiet.
They made me feel so special on my birthday dinner. I usually come here once every couple months because the food is amazing and it quickly became my favorite place to eat. Then they exceeded my expectations even more when I came here to celebrate my birthday.
This was my 3rd visit in as many months. I can't get enough! This time, I brought my son and his wife and daughter (and hubby, who's been before). Everyone LOVED it! We sat outside because we had a 2 year old. It was a nice evening, great service. We started off with the mussels - DELICIOUS! - and everyone ordered their own variation of spicy curry/seafood combination....fried rice, peanut based, panang, etc. The tempura chicken that they fixed our grand was delicious as well! (our only complaint was once the food came out the FLIES descended....)
I took a friend to Merlion for her birthday as a special treat. The food was amazing. The staff was friendly. The wine was tasty. We spent almost two hours there enjoying our meal and chatting. If you're in a hurry, this isn't the place for you. But if you have time to relax and enjoy some delicious dining, give it a try. You won't regret it.
Unfortunately, our experience wasn't up to Merlion's normally excellent standard!
We arrived early for our 8.30 reservation, met our friends and had drinks outside, good so far.
We ordered appetisers which took over 1 hour to arrive!
At 8.30 we were seated at our table, ordered entrees, waited and waited, apologetic staff offered us shots and agreed to refund our appetisers. Apparently there was an extreme lack of kitchen staff.
At 10.15 we were served our long awaited entrees!
I hope Merlion can overcome their staff issues soon.
Great Service, Great Food, Highly Recommend!! The waiter even remember the cocktail my daughter likes to order. All the dishes we order are outstanding. The ambience is always nice. It's great for special occasions or just a casual get together. Will be returning as soon as possible.
This was our second visit and again it did not disappoint. Food was very good, especially the lamb and duck. Heat levels were accurately described by our server, who was also very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our Friday night date night and will be back.
Our meal was great as usual. Multiple choices always make decisions difficult for us. The curries are flavorful. Stir fry has abundant fresh vegetables
Their wine list has varietals that allow easy pairings with whatever our food choices happen to be. Tried a new appetizer, crab and chefs rolls, they were tasty.
Reservations for 8:30 and arrived on time, ordered soups and a bottle of wine once the waitier came around. A short time later the wine arrived and we ordered our entree'. Waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. 50 minutes after arriving out soup arrived. No we weren't in a rush and we're enjoying our wine but this was ridiculous. Another 40 mins later and our main courses finally arrived. Nearly 2 hours in to finish a meal is insane. The food is spectacular and that's why we've been been to Merlion several times. It the wait stuff although friendly are seldom seen and always rushed. If the food wasn't so good I would not return.
Excellent Cocktails, Thai Curries, Appetizers, Service. Sign at Door, "Parents your children are expected to sit at the Table", there was Not One person wearing a Baseball Cap either. Just these 2 Observations will make me a regular Diner. For those of you who think I am being a snob....yes I am, and thank you.
We came to celebrate our anniversary and were not disappointed! We chose the chef's table from the menu and it was a good price ($55/each). We started with the mussels, and seriously - they were the best I have ever tasted! I could have jumped in the bowl (and slurped the broth). It was followed by a sweet and sour soup and a chicken/coconut soup. Both were great! Then we had a lump crab and apple salad which we split. It was good, but a bit salty for my taste. (but we RARELY use salt when cooking, so no surprise). Next to the entrees....the shrimp curry was FANTASTIC, and we had a fish that was panfried in panic bread crumbs. It was ok, we loved the veggies and sides with it, but found the fish a bit dry. Again, we do not eat fried food, so that could be why i'm not raving. Dessert was a chocolate chip mini-bundt cake which was delicious - but we were stuffed at this point. The waiter Ryan was fun, knowledgeable and attentive. We will DEFINITELY be back, and can't wait to try more. (oh, and they even decorated our table with roses and hearts) :) Nice touch! Oh, and the wine list was amazing - 2 pages of boutique wines! (great dry martini as well- WHEW, we had a super time) I'm craving those mussels though!
Visited for HRW menu. Food was very good, especially the lamb chop appetizer. Entree portions huge! Opt for the coconut "ice cream" & pass on the chocolate cake dessert.
Very nice wine menu wth attractive pricing.
Service was poor, maybe reflecting the laid back vibe too much.
Fun, funky, place with an eclectic clientele.
Took advantage of restaurant week to sample Merlion. Excellent food. Noise level in bar as we arrived was very high. It was better once seated. Look forward to going again and enjoying the patio when it is cooler. Had an excellent dinner and bottle of wine.
