Meritage Ratings and Reviews
I left a message via OpenTable that I used this restaurant for a small reception 9 years ago. Without saying anything they gave me a check with the $9 dessert on the house. The waitress was friendly and polite. It was just so relaxing, especially because when we went at 5:45 there was nobody for the good first 30 minutes. Food was good, well presented.
We've eaten here enough times to know that the food will be excellent but the service will be slow. However, at our most recent visit, the service was not just slow, it was poor. Items that were requested were never brought, things like ground pepper & grated parmesan were never offered, & we were charged for a bottle of wine we never ordered. It'll take us a while to go back.
Customer service is obviously of prime importance because the staff could not have been more supportive. Because of extremely heavy traffic we were 45 minutes late. I called and they agreed to save our table. I explained that we needed to get in and out to make a concert. We were! We had an amazingly delicious meal with appetizer and main course, and were in and out in just 45 minutes. We made it to our concert in time. I loved the vegetarian ravioli. Our friends enjoyed fish, pasta and chicken. Everyone was happy.
I was taking a friend out to dinner who I had not seen in many years. I was told that the restaurant overbooked and there was no room for us in the dining room so we were seated in the bar. They gave us free drinks to compensate. The service was a bit slow -- perhaps because we were not in the dining room. The ambiance and food were very good.
We tried this restaurant because it's local and it was Restaurant Week. They menu that they had posted on Restaurant Week and the menu that they handed us for Restaurant Week was a bit different. The one on the internet had many more choices and dessert included. When we got there we had to actually ask for the restaurant week menu, it wasn't offered to us. When it was dessert time, he brought us a dessert menu with prices next to it. When he came by to take our order I had to mention that they have posted on the restaurant week sight that dessert was included and then he mentioned that he forgot we ordered off of the restaurant week menu and allowed us to include dessert. Besides that shadyness, the food was great.
I made reservation for Sunday October 8th for my Husbands birthday for 7:00pm
when we got there the Restaurant was closed because there had been an oyster fest which we were not aware of even though I had a confirmation from open table so we drove down town for nothing very disappointed. Spoke with a bar tender who shrugged his shoulders sorry the restaurant is closed today. Sorry I am forced to rate in order to send this message but I have not eaten there.
Meritage is one of those restaurants where we are never disappointed. We've been going there for many years , and even though we don't go very often, Tony (our waiter) always remembers us. The food is delicious and they offer some unusual dishes. I recommend you try it!
Price-fixe brunch for Mother's Day was limited in choice but excellently prepared. I had perfectly poached egg Benedict and my partner has a beautifully composed frittata. Dessert, extra after the price-fixe was almost perfect Chocolate Mousse with perfect, unsweetened, whipped cream (the only way to make it.)
This restaurant came highly recommended, but it didn't live up to its billing. The service was unacceptably slow. (There was apparently only one server for the entire room.) He didn't take a drink order until I asked, after the food order had been placed! The wait for appetizers and entrees was very long. The food was tasty and good, and the prix fix menu was okay. The service was the killer. We won't come back.
Just had the most wonderful dinner and can't wait to go back! Our waiter was terrific and helped speed things along when we had to leave quickly to relieve the babysitter. The cod special was perfection and the chocolate bread pudding is worth every calorie.
This restaurant is just special. We go here often. Always treated like family. The food, the wait staff, the drinks, everything could not be better. What a great neighborhood restaurant! Even if you don't live nearby, a great dinning destination. A real find!
Meritage came to our attention on Open Table, as we peruse various menus. The menu offers innovative dishes. The on-line wine list is misleading, however, showing a bottle of Malbec for about $30 when, in fact, the pricy wine list of bottles in the restaurant starts at $45.
Aside from that discrepancy, we liked the food and service. The beet salad was very good. The escarole Caesar salad appeared to feature iceberg lettuce, rather than escarole, but the dressing was flavorful. Our pasta entree of linguine with cauliflower, chilis, garlic, breadcrumbs was delicious. We also enjoyed the sautéed Swiss chard side dish of that we ordered. In contrast, the featured fish entree, John Dory, seemed over-cooked and dry. Unheated watercress and fennel shavings accompanied the cooked fish.
Coffee was hot but not particularly strong.
Meritage impressed us as good, expensive, not great.
