Went for our wedding anniversary. Food was excellent and the service was awesome. Will definitely come back.
Very amazing ambiance. The staff is nice. We would come back again!
Wanted a great meal after flying into Boston for the night and couldn't have chosen better. The menu was one of the best (and most varied) we've ever encountered, and the food was incredible, beginning with the amuse bouche and the "bread" which was topped with thin slices of potato to the raw oysters, cheese cart, and the light, delicious desserts. The wine parings and the wine were excellent, and the service was outstanding. The evening view of the Boston Harbor was delightful as well. Highly recommend The Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar!
Had a wonderful evening celebrating a special event. We were greeted warmly and made to feel special. Our primary server, Jean, was outstanding! Service was perfectly attentive without being intrusive. We had the tasting menu with wines. The food courses were delicious and the wines were paired exquisitely. The starting course was one of the best scallop dishes we have ever had. The following courses of flounder, duck and beef were all unique and extraordinary. The view of the harbor changing as the sun sets is enchanting. Definitely would recommend this for a special occasion.
Idyllic spot, romantic, fun, spectacular service, and outstanding food
Beautiful space and great views of Boston Harbor
Wine to food pairing was excellent. Service was great, there were always at least 2 people serving us. I can recommend Pre Fix menu to anyone who has travelled in Europe. You will not be disappointed
My partner and I had the pleasure of dining here for my birthday. We arrived at about 7:45, and admittedly had some difficulty finding the restaurant through the hotel, as the restaurant's front entrance seemed to be undergoing construction.
The hotel in which Meritage resides is opulent and cavernous, with lovely harborside scenery from its many expansive windows. The view from inside the restaurant was just as captivating, and we enjoyed watching the sun set as we ate.
The service provided throughout our meal was exceptional. Though there were minor peccadillos that are hardly worth mentioning, we felt as though we were well attended to and that the meal was well-paced.
The menu was equally as impressive; the food was balanced skillfully between inventive and traditional, and was consistently well portioned. The standout of the night, however, was the wine pairing, which in every course was intelligent and symbiotic with the food. With a name like 'Meritage,' one would hope the wine offering would be impressive, and indeed the sommelier did not disappoint.
Overall, the experience was well deserving of its price point, and will remain in my mind for more lavish special occasions.
Food very good. service was extremely attentive. nice view of harbor. Would go back.
Our food was outstanding and the place has a wonderful view of Boston Harbor. Our service was very, very poor for a high end restaurant. Our waiter never checked on us or asked us if we needed anything during the entire dinner. We usually had to stop him and ask for items though out the night. Usually at a very high end place you have two or three people checking on you though out the dinner. So if you want outstanding food with a great view and do not mind poor service this is your place.
Food was excellent. We really liked our waiter too but it seemed short of waiters - we counted 2 waiters for 12-13 tables. Too much for them to cover to offer the service one expects at this type of restaurant. They appeared to do their best. Recommend 4 waiters.
Awesome experience it was my fiancee's birthday day and she loved every bit of it .
Price is okay . See the pictures below.
I was not impressed was just so so. Service was poor
While the service, ambience and food presentations were excellent, except for the steak, all foods served were barely lukewarm. While the flavor of most of the dishes was good, though somewhat bland, hot foods should be served piping hot. The flexible chocolate ganach had little flavor and the texture of a bar of clay. My steak was served almost raw and then recooked and ruined although I could tell that it had been a lovely piece of beef. The view of the Harbor was fabulous for me, but my husband had a view of the outside wall of the building. The complimentary champagne for our 44th Anniversary was a nice touch and the wait staff were all so lovely and happy to snap pictures of the occasion for us. You have a wonderful setting and a fabulous location but we were surprised that a 5 Star restaurant could be so disappointing for the price. I’d like to try again to see if it was just an off night but not sure I’d risk the cost.
Nice restaurant but pricey . The food was good with small portions. A nice restaurant for special occasions
Delicious food. Amazing view. Attentive wait staff. Nicely spaced tables. We did the prix fixe with wine pairings and our sommelier was the best we have ever had, highly informative without being a pedant.
Service and ambience were excellent; food was very good, no so great. We would return,
My husband and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary at Meritage. We were very impressed with the staff and the location. We don't normally go to 'fancy' places like this but we had a great experience. The food was so different but so tasty from anything we've ever had before. I'd def go back again.
One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Boston.
Elegant room and service. A nice prix fixe menu with excellent wine parings.
I had an awesome time celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary. The waitstaff was excellent and attentive all night long. Food was cooked to perfection and presentation was right on. As a former foods teacher I greatly appreciate the effort Chef Bruce put into each recipe. Every sauce, or garnish enhanced the plate. The little extras and wine pairing were always a welcomed surprise. We definitely will return to this restaurant and I give it my highest recommendation. 5 stars
wonderful food, extraordinary service without pretension, great ambiance and harbor view.
Loved it. Great food and service. Definitely come again. 6 course meal was very good along with the wine.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
creative cuisine; everything perfectly prepared; impeccable service
Great service . Delicious food . Beautiful view . Loved it and would highly recommend it
Wonderful food, great wine list and shaky service. We requested a quiet table and we were seated at a nice table....until 50 to 75 conventioneers walked right through the middle of the dining room to a banquet room which is merely a glass partition right next to our table. We literally could not hear each other.....what were they thinking. We moved to a table next to the kitchen that was ironically quieter but no view. Service was amateurish and lacked experience and focus for a fine dining restaurant. It is a pity....the food was amazing.
We had the Vineyard to Table tasting menu with wine pairings. This is the second time we have done this, and it was amazing both times. I highly recommend this for a special occasion with a little bit of adventure.
Meritage is amazing!!!!
The food and service was beyond my expectations
Went for 45 th anniversary. Meritage had our flowers on the table and all staff we encountered wished us a happy anniversary. My wife was very happy. The service was prompt and knowledgeable. Creative menu tastings and al a carte. I had lamb while my wife had halibut . Both were fantastic. Great view of the harbor. Highly recommend for that special evening.
Our experience at Meritage was, again, simply outstanding. We very much appreciated Chef Bruce greeting us and providing a special scollop ceviche which was absolutely delicious and unexpected. I particularly enjoyed the 4 course menu accompanied by some of the wine offerings. I have never been a fan of rose wine but I might become a convert after this experience. We also enjoyed several glasses of a wonderful bordeaux (Pomerol).
Thank you. We look forward to a return visit soon.
With gratitude, Ron and Jan Geddes
Great restaurant and staff. Food was decent in my personal opinion. Staff took time to explain every dish to me. Very attentative. Wish we had a window seat. Other than that great experience.
Service slow and disorganized
Food very good and views outstanding
I am a HUGE fan! I have been dining at Meritage for years, and it only gets better and better and better. The tasting menu is exceptional. Using only the freshest of local ingredients. Chef Daniel Bruce is the best in Boston, his passion for food translates into every well composed dish. Kudos for an excellent wine list as well, by the glass and flights offered at the wine bar. Every time I visit, I notice another addition to his creativity. The handmade chocolate I received as I left the dining room is the kind of detail you see in NYC... run don't walk to this Boston Gem!
Fantastic experience from the valet, hotel personal, hostess, and waitstaff. We felt extra special and will remember this birthday dinner for many years to come. We had the prixe fix (4 course with amuse bouche and bread course) I am baffled how someone could complain that there was not enough food for the price. We both had to take home a portion of our main entree. Each dish was skillfully prepared, especially the foie gras, halibut, and sirloin. High praise to the back of the house and chefs. Meritage, we will be seeing you again very soon. Great job team!
Testing menu with wine was wonderful. Worth every penny. What a treat.
Excellent all around, great value.
They made our special nite out a wonderful experience.
Touted as one of the three best restaurants in Boston, it was a tremendous disappointment. The two free appetizers were totally uninteresting. The main course included a generous but dry and flavorless piece of lamb, greens that were chewy, hard and pulpy, and sauces that were far from delicate and relevant. The price was exorbitant for food and cuisine of such limited interest.
Our food was good for the most part. The portions were small. The place seemed touristy and had quite a few empty tables, which was a surprise as it was so highly rated. It was expensive, which we expected, but we also expected a better dining experience. We entered through a desolate, empty hotel lobby and went up an elevator to the restaurant. Once there, we were warmly greeted, and the view of the harbor was very nice. Service was prompt and friendly, but the wine was spilled ( just a little) and nothing was said about it- ok but not what one would expect. It was a nice evening, but overpriced for the experience.
