Meritage Restaurant + Wine Bar takes the unique approach of matching wine and food with a dynamic, sensory-evoking menu that offers guests a memorable culinary experience while simplifying the art of pairing. Came here for my Fiancé 's Birthday. Wasn't expecting much in terms of vegetarian options but the server and the chef both surprised us by accommodating our request. The food options were amazing and the sommelier even helped us decide on our wine based on our tastes.
We aren't very fancy people and were nervous about this place. But the staff is really kind and immediately made us feel really special which is a great positive in any restaurant we visit.
I would definitely recommend this place for special occasions.
Outstanding experience. We were there for my mother’s 75th birthday and the entire staff helped make this a first class celebration. The food was beyond excellent and my Mom commented that dinner at Meritage May have been the best gift I had given her in a very long time!!!!
Wow! Truly superb service, food, presentation and wine list. This was an exceptional dining experience that will go down as among the best in my already blessed life. This is not a place for young kids (chicken fingers and Mac n cheese are not options on the menu) but a great place for an overdue romantic dinner with your spouse or business dinner to impress a refined client.
One of the most enjoyable dinners out ever. And we've been eating out for a long time! Service was unintrusive, not rushed, but attentive. Food was outstanding and accompanying wine flights on the mark. The waterfront view is the perfect accompaniment to the food, service, and decor.

Took daughter and grandchild to Saturday Night dinner at one of top High level restaurants in Boston. They all loved it! Food was excellent and service outstanding as usual. New menu including pasta with truffles, and Octopus appertizers were very good. New main course of Rabbit was very good and probably only one of few places you can get it in Boston. Tenderloin, halibut and ribs were also very well done.
Only slight negative were the wine prices - quite high. But as my grandson said, “ this is some place special and I’d love to come back”
This really was an exceptional restaurant. The food was creative made from excellent ingredients, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Not a place for a casual or cheap night out but somewhere to chose if you want a special night out. The service was exceptional and the staff were really experts in the cuisine being offered, attentive but not overbearingly, friendly and helpful. The dishes were creative but not pretentious and we came away feeling that we really had experienced something special. Rare praise from my wife and I!
Our dinner at Meritage was overall quite delightful: the service was impeccable, the environment very nice (especially our view of the waterfront), and the menu was quite interesting and often whimsical. The only downside was dessert, which we had heard would be worth staying for but turned out to be disappointing. The menu was also quite expensive, especially compared to other high-caliber dinners we've had in the Boston area (no doubt we were paying for the location as well as the food/service).
Meritage is an outstanding restaurant, with beautiful views of the Boston Harbor. The wine-themed food pairings are well concieved and many are quite playful (.e.g, the PB&J Foie Gras). The wine list is extensive and offers many options at different budget levels. The sommeliers are quite knowledgeable and offer excellent advice when deciding which wines to pair with the menu options.
We went to this restaurant for our 50th anniversary. Our dinner was fantastic as well as the service. Had the pb&j foie gras as an apertizer and we both had the short ribs for the main course. The attention to details was impressive. Great wine list and the view from the booths of the harbor is lovely. Made for a very special night for us.
The Waygu filet was excellent. The vegetables were cooked perfectly.
The chef's pre-meal pallet cleansing bites were not very good...the texture of the caviar jam was NOT pleasing.
The wine sommelier was VERY SLOW and the restaurant was not half full on the evening that we dined. We had to request wine refills which is not typical for a restaurant of this type. I expected far superior wine service.
The atmosphere is beautiful. The views are perfect.

Cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Food was fantastic, from the lollipop they greeted us with at the hostess stand (lemon lollipop on a sprig of rosemary, "planted" in a tray of cocoa nibs) to the fabulous chocolate dessert. Each course was paired with excellent wines, recommended by a sommelier who is on top of his game. Describe what you like in a wine, and he will find the absolute perfect glass for you. We were given an amuse-bouche of a leafy green with a dollop of gel on top; it tasted exactly like an oyster. The smoked beet salad was served under a smoke-filled cloche, imparting the most delicate smoke flavor to the salad. The entrees (short rib, filet mignon) could be cut with a fork and just melted away in the mouth. Dessert was accompanied by a flight of ports that was, again, the perfect pairing. Service was impeccable; we never wanted for anything. The ambiance was great; it had a very "clubby" feel, very elegant with a great view of the harbor. All in all, everything was perfect. Cannot wait to return.
We have dined in some of the finest restaurants in the world. Our experience at Meritage ranks right up there. The ambiance was what you'd expect in the fine dining establishment. The view of the harbor was the main reason we chose Meritage for our 'date' night. The service was very good. But the food was the standout. A better duck breast could only be found in France. And the campfire trout was a treat that can't be had anywhere else. Fresh lamps and cremini mushrooms placed with grilled trout placed in a wood bowl. Then the server holds a match to the small piece of cotton in the bowl. When it instantly evaporates the diner is left with a hint of campfire. It makes the senses and the meal come alive. We will talk about this for quite some time and recommend you try it before the season changes.
We had a lovely evening at Meritage celebrating my husband's birthday. The staff was solicitous and attentive, but not intrusive. The sommelier is outstanding. We enjoyed the inventiveness of the menu - especially since the results were delicious. Even though the restaurant could be considered pricey, it is well worth it for special occasions.
