Everything from the hostess at the entrance to food runners were amazing! Food was very good, small portions but very filling! We got a glass of champagne on the house because we were celebrating a birthday which was amazing. Very happy with Meritage , definitely will be coming back!

Very nice , but selection of red duck breast followed by flank steak could have been better - perhaps a nice fish or chicken plate instead of the duck .

Several of the wines were very nice . I would have offered Trimbach Gewurztraminer instead of the Reisling
as a late course wine .

Wine and Food tasting menu was very well done. My wife and I found something special to say about each of the six courses. Service and presentation is as good as it gets. The wines were unfamiliar to us but we enjoyed each one of them. We had high expectations and were not disappointed.

Food was fantastic. For apps: the steak tartar, mushroom bisque, dumpling appetizers and they were all amazing. For main dish: pheasant was really good and halibut was a bit dry. Service was great. Very attentive. Ambiance was lame. It was pretty bright for a dinner date. Lots of recess lights shining down on your face.

I wish I could say that we had the same experience as others. The food was underwhelming. The pea soup and crab starter was bland and watery. The cheese plate was literally a small hunk of cheese, some nuts, some bread, two apricots that could have come from my local supermarket - the worst plating at a fine dining restaurant I've ever had. The flank steak was good but nothing remarkable. The salmon plate was lovely but drastically different portion sizes. The dessert was the highlight. They missed one of our wine pairings! Offered to bring it later but it was too late obviously, though they comped our coffees. Maybe it's because in total we had at least 6 people bringing us different items? We never knew who to ask when we had a request. Felt like all the diners were stiff and awkward with the "special occasion" meals.

Meritage can provide you with a memorable experience. I did their tasting menu; to me, that is the best way to “call the chef out” and see what they’ve got. Meritage, located near the Boston Harbor (with beautiful views), features a nice use of seafood, without overdoing it. Their courses were creative and varied, and - most importantly - delicious.
I’m not much for red meat, so they substituted with an octopus dish; it was a bit more robust and saucier than usual, but it went well with the red wine pairing.
The wines were unique and the pairings enhanced the enjoyment of the meal.

Meritage is a lovely restaurant in the Boston Harbor Hotel. The seating is very pleasant the staff more than accommodating and the food very good. My only complaint would be how they describe some of their dishes. For instance I'm in New England at a Harbor Restaurant looking over the harbor and thinking I might like to have lobster. I asked the gentleman how the lobster is prepared and served. He says oh don't worry the lobster is all out of the shell and you get the tail and the claw. I asked how big of a lobster is it to which he never offered a weight or a size. The entree comes to the table and it's one claw and a half of a tail. I was thinking whole tail and two claws from the description in the menu and from the gentleman waiter. Other than feeling a little short-changed on the lobster for $50, the experience was very nice. My friend and I shared the octopus with a chorizo sauce and little pieces of potato. Very good! My friend had the halibut fish dish and was pleased. I hate to go to a restaurant without trying at least one dessert that we can split. In French the dish translates to Black Forest. However it was not a cake it was a luscious Square of vanilla, chocolate and cherry mouse. The moose was covered with chocolate sauce that was not too sweet and had a cherry, very sour, on top with a little bit of 24-karat gold leaf. On the side was a cannel of raspberry sorbet sitting on top of chocolate cookie crumbs. It was a light and delicious finish to a meal. Overall it was a great experience. Our server was French and he let me practice a little French with him. Which made it even more enjoyable.

The food was terrific and the service impeccable. However, for some reason we were seated next to a VERY loud pair of businessmen who succeeded in spoiling an otherwise lovely evening. We were celebrating a very significant anniversary. Why they chose to seat us at this table is beyond me. When we arrived there many open tables. By the time I realized that these two were going to be unbearably loud the entire time we were there it seemed too late to move. I did notice that most other diners that arrived after us were not seated anywhere near these two. Meritage you should have done better.

The Meritage is a beautiful restaurant with white linen table clothes and a nice view. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and attentive including the sommelier. We shared the beet linguini which was absolutely wonderful! My husband also loved his lamb chop. I am a pescatarian so I eat a lot of fish. Unfortunately my bream was old and fishy tasting. I couldn’t even eat it. It was really disappointing because usually the fish at a place like this is melt in your mouth good.
Also about 3/4 of the way through our meal one of the waitstaff poured still water into our 1/2 full sparkling water glasses. That’s not a big deal but is something that shouldn’t happen at a restaurant of this caliber especially when the empty sparkling water bottle was on our table.
The other thing that was a little odd is there was a party going on in the room directly adjacent to the dining room, with a non-solid, movable wall. The crowd was very loud and it certainly took away from the ambience.

They were absolutely wonderful! A second-to-none service experience, with an amazing view, I went there to celebrate my Birthday and I was really impressed! Excellent food quality, over-the-top customer service, and well, you pay what’s right for such an experience.

Went here for a friend’s birthday and had a fantastic experience. The service was top notch and the food and drinks were excellent. Really great views from any table and quiet atmosphere that allows for conversation. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a date night, business meeting or night out with a small group of friends.

As always, the food was amazing. It was made even better by some amazing wine pairings. Highly recommend doing the tasting menu. Some of the items may sound funky, but once you put them in your mouth and combine them with a sip of the selected wine. Boom! Flavor explosion in your mouth.

My wife and I have never had a bad meal or experience at Meritage. We recommend it to anyone looking for a place to go on a date.

When I made the reservation I told them we were celebrating an anniversary and requested a booth overlooking the water. When we arrived the gal started to walk us to the back of the restaurant even though there was an empty booth by the window. When I asked why we weren't to be seated there - we got a bit of an attitude. We finally did get a booth. The food for the most part was very good, however the salad was way overdressed and soggy and it looked just like the bagged salad I buy at the super market. Not sure we will go back anytime soon.

The service at Meritage was okay, unlike what others had reviewed. What was most dissapointing was the tasting menu and the wines paired with each course.. I was going to get a bottle of wine and order a la cart, but opted for the tasting and pairing. It was terrible at every turn. We had to send the wine back at one point, and the sommelier admitted it was their last bottle stating “others liked it.” It was not worth the price nor was the response from the restaurant acceptable. It ruined what could have been a lovely Friday night. It’s true.. the best place to eat in Boston is in Providence or NYC!

Great wine selection and our champagne and wine was some of the best we have ever tasted. The food was above average, standard dishes prepared well. I would recommend this resturant for the wine experience alone.

Some of the food was excellent, the service was excellent, the wine list has significant variety and we were able to find a known wine, resulting in a very good night. Dessert was outstanding and so was the selection of after dinner drinks.

From the moment you walk into the lobby of the Meritage, you receive excellent service. Our servers were knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. The food was fantastic. I'm a lover of high quality food and wine. They did not disappoint. From the tasty tart to the hazelnut cake, every course tasted amazing.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was so good. We were warmly welcomed and had a relaxed night. They charged $100 for 6 course dinner and $45 for wine pairing. Really good value for money.

Fantastic food, wine and service. We had the 6 course tasting menu with paired wine. Every forkful and sip of wine was wonderful. Well worth the cost. My wife and I really appreciate fine dining and this was an outstanding experience. Thank you to the chef and service - excellent!

Came here to celebrate after graduation. We had to alter our reservation 2 hours before (one member of our party had an emergency and couldn't make it and we moved it from 7pm to 6pm), but we called and the staff dealt with it very swiftly and kindly.

Upon arriving, they gave us champagne to celebrate. Throughout the night, the service was extremely nice. We were served an amuse bouche of tuna poke. For appetizers, we had semolina dumplings and Spanish octopus. The octopus was cooked perfectly and wasn't chewy at all.
For mains, we got the short rib, the sea bream, and the scallops. Again, all were cooked perfectly and were paired with interesting ingredients (macadamia nuts, honeydew sauce, etc.)
For dessert, we shared the Black Forest cake and the Filbert hazelnut torte. The Black Forest cake was decadent and smooth and the Torte was light and refreshing.
Afterward, they gave us a little fruit jelly/preserve and madeleines. While leaving, they gave us each a little chocolate box too.

Overall, it was a great experience with great food, kind service, and a great view.
