Took my wife here for a valatines dinner, and we were blown away by how well you are taken care of. We were greeted graciously, taken to our table. Our waiter introduced himself and answered all our questions, as well as his recommendation. We decided on the Valentine special 6 course meal with the wine pairing, and what a meal it was! Everything was amazing! And once again before each meal, we were introduced to the wine that would go with our meal and explained it's origin. The restaurant itself is beautiful, from the table setting to the environment. It isn't crowded with other customers and the music is not loud and not to quite to enjoy. Everything about this place is just wonderful! Highly recommend!

I love this restaurant, and would always recommend his as a true food experience. The complaint this time was the shortage of staff. Though the restaurant was not busy, it seemed the server had little time and the sommelier continuously left my glass empty.

Lovely setting overlooking the harbor. Great service/great wine list. Had 4 course prix fixe dinner with wine - spanish octopus was sublime, coffee rubbed steak was not as flavorful as expected and desert was average. My wife had more consistent excellent food experience (shrimp w/crab, poached lobster), but also shared the average desert experience. Very good overall, just not a consistently 'wow' food experience over the 4 courses.

Meritage offers an outstanding dining experience with a menu that features locally sourced dishes and servers who share their understanding and appreciation of each item on the menu, and the accompanying wines. They feed both the body and mind. One should be prepared to take their time to savor all that is offered.

One of the top ten dinning experiences that I have had. Perfect timing as we were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary. We are familiar with Chef Bruce from his terrific Wine Festival dinners but this was a first trip to the restaurant.

Spot on service, wonderfully clever that was food beautifully presented, and they acknowledged our occasion with class. Chef Bruce creates elegant dishes that are unpretentious and accessible. The restaurant itself is intimate but alive.

I couldn't recommend Meritage more highly

Outstanding food and service! The best dining experience that I’ve had in my life. I can’t say enough about the exceptional food and service. The Meritage is all about an exceptional dining experience from the moment you arrive through a professional and courteous escort as you are leaving. Class act all the way. They “nailed” what it means to have an upscale and classy dining experience with the best food! Much thanks Meritage!!!!

Significant disappointment that kitchen would not allow any substitution on their tasting menu. Asked to alter one first course to change from scallop to tuna due to shellfish issue. Wouldn’t accommodate the request. There were only 11 people in the dining room the entire time we were there. I have eaten in much finer restaurants with tasting menus and never had a similar request denied, including many internationally acclaimed restaurants (Michelin starred restaurants). The thought that this somehow altered the integrity of the proposed menu is almost insulting to me as a diner. The result of this was also that the others in the party could not enjoy the tasting menu as everyone at the table had to choose this.

My experience at Meritage was incredible. I really wanted to treat my girlfriend that night and given it was our first date of the year, everything had to be done right. They went above and beyond their duties to make our night special. My girlfriend felt like a princess. This place holds a special spot in my heart now. Incredible experience.

Went for a family dinner celebrating a birthday. Brought our young kids. They have a kids menu!!!! Best Chicken Fingers ever and the ice cream sundae was to die for - and that's the KIDS' food! The adults went for the vineyard to table menu - and it was great! Just a head's up - don't drive after - get a cab. You will get a full glass of wine - not a tasting amount. So - that's 6 glasses of wine - plus whatever you had while deciding if you were gonna go for the tasting menu. Food was amazing and just enough to feel full but not stuffed.
They have tables for 4 right next to the panorama windows overlooking the channel. The view was lovely in the winter but I can imagine it's quite spectacular in the summer.

I come here for their New Year Brunch in the past several years, the ambiance, by the waterfront is unbeatable, in the past they event have live music (not this year).
This year i found the value is the worst, but the service is the best.
The refill of food and drinks are very generous, you see staff continue refilling food which was nice. They kept the cocktail shrimps, seafood bar and sushi at the buffet coming non-stop. At the table the freshly squeezed OJ and coffee are being consistently refilled without the need to ask for them.
However the menu used to include a craving station, this year it is gone, the varieties of food at the buffet is much less than any of the years in the past, a bit disappointed.
They also used to validate your parking at the underground garage so it is only about $20 for the duration of the brunch, this year they don't offer that, parking at the underground garage turned into $40, not cool.

My wife and I have been celebrating Christmas Eve at Meritage for several years and each year has been a great experience. Some have been better the others, but all have have been good and 2018's was one of the best. The ambience, wonderful harbor views, and the efficient, pleasant service combine the excellent food to make a great evening. Christmas eve offers a four course set menu with choices at each course. Our choices at each course were beautifully prepared. There is an option of a wine pairing. I would strongly recommend it. The choices fit perfectly. The whole evening was, as always, an important part of our celebration from the warm welcome to the small box of complimentary chocolates presented on our departure.

Three of us had dinner to celebrate Christmas/Birthday. The food was delicious. Two of us had halibut which was a large piece on a bed of risotto. It was very filling. The other had short rib which she said was very good. We had a chocolate dessert which beautifully presented and delicious. It was enhanced by the whipped cream which we had to request. I did think the drinks were expensive. My friend paid $25 for a glass of wine and margaritas were $16. Our waiter Jean was terrific - very attentive and personable.

Flawless hospitality, creative twists on classic dishes and excellent culinary execution by Chef Daniel Bruce make for a memorable dining experience. Good wine list at all price points. Ask for a table by the window overlooking the harbor for the best view of the water.

Amazing! This was my second visit to Meritage and it was even better than the first! I let them know in my reservation that it was my guest’s birthday, and they brought out a delicious rose’ to start, and a beautiful amuse bouche, as well as top notch service throughout our dinner to complement our perfect food! Absolutely worth the price tag for the whole experience and beautiful view of the ocean while you dine. Keep up the good work!

I have to assume our experience was conditioned by the fact that it was a holiday event.
The problem began with the cocktails which did not arrive until well into the first course and AFTER the first pairing was poured.
The first course was very good. And, so was the second, but here is were things really fell apart. As the third was to be served, waitstaff appeared with large armful of laundry and began resetting tables in front of us. This might have not been such an issue except we were seated, facing out.
The third course, my risotto and my husbands turkey were really a disappointment.
And, the dessert cake was dry. The apple "pie" crust was nice, but the apples were not. the third course and the desserts I make varieties of, so I know how delicious each could be. The final pairing was the highlight.
Overall, the service was just off. Pacing was a disaster-long waits and miscues-dessert served before the third course? Someone really had the choreography all off! The staff was lovely, but often seemed frenetic and confused, and then extremely apologetic.
All this for one $300?

I have eaten here before and had a very good experience so maybe it was an off night. Would still recommend and hope it won’t happen again. Food was boring, bland and rather tasteless, except for the salad.

Fantastic restaurant, probably the best in Boston. I spent a week in Boston trying out all the good restaurants I could find and the Meritage was by far the best. Nice quiet, with outstanding service, incredibly delicious food and great wine pairings.
I was pleasantly surprised that the quality was even better than I remembered it from my last visit 5 years ago!

We were forced to order entrees when we ordered appetizers. We wanted a leisurely meal the server wanted us in and out. I’ll take the $1,000.00 I spent elsewhere.

Outstanding service. Brilliant pairings with each course of a 6 course tasting menu. All the food was cooked perfectly. They were very accommodating swapping out other choices due to allergies.

Every time my wife and I eat here we have the best meal we’ve ever had. We celebrated our Anniversary Dinner here after getting married here last year. Service is impeccable and the food is so unique and creative. The Chef is so consistently over the top impressive and usually will send out a couple extra small plates that they think will go well with our meal. The flights of wine are excellent and are highly recommended. Pappardelle Pasta has so much flavor with the aged gouda. The Venison Carpaccio & Tartar packed a somehow delicate punch of flavor with a great crunch. The Short Rib here is probably the best food I’ve ever had, as I never even picked up my knife. Red wine sauce and falls apart when you touch it with your fork. The Baked Alaska with Cranberry Sorbet had a nice fall touch to it and was sweet and tart at the same time. Overall it was a very expensive dinner, but WOW was it worth every penny. Looking forward to the next time we go here, there really is nothing quite like this in the area. Thank you Meritage!

As always the food and wine was awesome. Very unusual was 3 very young children who were very vocal. We have been coming to Meritage for decades and this was the first time for this experience. We will be back soon with the expectation that we will be enjoying our dinner with the wonderful atmosphere that is usually present.

Best restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food was amazing, the waiter was super helpful and very educated about all wines and food. I went there to propose and when I did they were quick to give us celebratory wine. The chef even gave my fioncee a congradulations written in chocolate on her plate during dessert. Best restaurant I’ve ever been to and will definitely be back for other special occasions in the future!

Meritage ceases to impress. Their chef, somm, and service are some of the best I've experienced. I love their wine choices and cheese selection. Can't stress enough how much I enjoy this restaurant. High recommendations on all fronts
