Meritage - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten at Meritage many times over the years and returned there last night again for my birthday with 5 friends who had never been. Typically we have both great food and service. Last night, I ordered the filet mignon special with the Cajun goat cheese crust cooked medium as I always do. It arrived at the table, plain with no toppings so I sent it back with the waiter to have it corrected. It was obvious they put the steak back on grill to add the topping instead of making it correctly, as it came out WAY over cooked and totally well done. None even a touch of pink. A manager (I’m assuming) brought it out. There was no apology for the mixup (as the rest of the table waited for me to get my food to eat theirs). I understand mistakes happen but they need to be handled better. There were other members of our party who didn’t get items they ordered and didn’t want to wait any longer. I told the waiter to just take my steak off the bill because I wasn’t going to wait any longer to have it fixed AGAIN and wasn’t going to eat it as it was. He said he would “have to ask”?!? Came back a while later, and still no apology from anyone. Brought the bill and it was removed but definitely disappointing to have such poor food/service on my birthday at on of our favorite places. Makes me want to think twice before going back again.
When I first found this place on google it looked good and I wanted to try it out, but when we arrived we realized it's quite a bit more high-end than the first impression I got from the web site.
Food and service was outstanding. This will be a favorite of ours for quite some time!
Food was excellent and served piping hot, beautiful presentation, great wine selection, beautiful enviroment, service was attentive and pleasant. Little too loud once the resturant was full, got difficult to visit without having to raise our voices a bit. Other than that, highly recommend.
We were able to reserve a table 20 minutes before arriving and we we're seated immediately. The staff was very nice and made our dining a very pleasant experience. Definitely recommend the queso dip and onion soup. The steaks king crab were delicious, as was the pasta. Highly recommend the muddled sangria both res and white. The watermelon martini was strong yet very tasty. The loaded baked potato was very good. The architecture of the building provides a nice ambiance. We will be dining there again very soon. And will be recommending it to all of our friends.
I have been going to Meritage for many years but I don’t find that the food is as good since they changed their location. We celebrated a birthday last weekend and the staff were very helpful in getting us a good table for our group. I ordered the 6 oz filet and glazed carrots that I have always loved but the filet was over cooked and the carrots hard and crunchy instead of soft. The waiter spilled my son’s water and never brought a replacement. I am disappointed in the quality of the food considering the high prices.
From being greeted and seated to being served my wife and I were very pleased. The food was amazing. Looked and tasted spot on. We we're celebrating our wedding anniversary and everyone took the time to congratulate us. The room we sat in was very nice maybe even romantic. Eating here made our night even more special.
We gathered for lunch as a thank you for the many kindnesses dine iber the past year. ONLY ONE OF US HAD BEEN TO mERITAGE BEFORE BUT HER RECOMMENDATION ENCOURAGED US TO MAKE THE TRIP FROM oXFORD. oUR EXPERIENCE WAS SO DELIGHTFUL WE STAYED WELL PAST THE "LUNCH HOUR SO CONVERSATION AT A TABLE FOR 8 STEADILY BECAME MORE POSSIBLE.
eight women with a variety of tastes raved about the food, the service and the uniqueness of the place. They all plan to return often. NEED i SAY MORE?
We went on a Tuesday for the $25 Seafood special and $12 wine pairing. The special is a great value and the wine pairing was perfect - you can pick your own wines by the glass to pair. Service was friendly and server was knowledgeable about the wines. It was busy for a Tuesday - make sure you have a booking!
Outstanding food, top notch service. Only thing that prevents us from visiting often? Their Wine list is limited/markups are steep. They should either expand the list and lower the markups OR follow the Majority of other top restaurants in the area and offer a corkage fee allowing us to bring our own favorite bottle in.
The place is nice but it is a little over priced for the food. My dad had the fish special which came with carrots that he couldn't even chew. My husband had the French Dip and it was super salty. I would try again but it is not my favorite and the price was rather high
I really wanted to give this place 4 stars but I cant . The reason is there was a dog brought in on the outside patio. Our server immediately went over and picked the dog up uniform and all. My husband and I looked at each other with our mouths open. My husband said he was glad we already had our food. Surely that has to be a health code violation and why this couple felt like they needed to "sneak" their dog in is beyond me. As a result I doubt I will be back.
An unexpected delight! On a Sunday, got the Sunday-Tuesday menu: three choices on three courses. We were three, and managed to get all nine options! All of us opted for the wine pairings as well - so nine glasses on the table! All fresh, all innovative, all tasty - wonderful food. Acoustic guitar to accompany our meal. Superb service. What's not to like?
I took my husband to Meritage to celebrate his birthday. We have eaten here before, but not at their new location. We had a cute little table on the second floor by a window. We could see the trains coming and going all night long. Also around 7:00 P.M. they had music that was not loud, enjoyable enough that you still talk. Loved the food.
As others had noted, freight train tracks RIGHT next to the building can be noisy when trains roll by, which was frequent. We were on the second floor and the noise was noticeable.
Live music was nice, when we were seated close to the musician I was afraid we would not be able to talk, but he was good, and not overwhelmingly loud.
Food was great - service sometimes attentive, sometimes MIA, but always cheerful.
We will come back again!
