Merighi's Savoy Inn Ratings and Reviews
The noise was a little louder than usual as it was two nights before Christmas, they were very busy and everyone was in a festive mood but the service was excellent. They had a singer to add to the festive occasion and also a special holiday menu in addition to their normal one. We enjoyed very much the short rib and polenta dish which was served in a small black iron skillet. It was excellent!
We were in town as a vendor at the Wheaton Arts Crafts show and found the Savoy Inn quite by accident through OpenTable. Our experience was exemplary. We decided to sit at the bar and were served by Melissa who was very engaging and attentive.
We had drinks and a number of small plates which were all well executed.
People at the restaurant were very friendly and we felt quite at home despite being many miles from our actual home.
We talked about how much we liked the Savoy Inn on the way home and decided we'd make a special trip next time we head to the shore, despite it being a little detour, so we could enjoy it again.
We found this restaurant late one night after running an errand in the area. They greeted us warmly and were attentive even though it was after 10 pm and we were among the last customers. Great crab cakes and onion soup. Would definitely eat there again if in the area.
The food was great the service not so much! The young lady was very pre occupied with the couple behind us leaving my wife and I waiting for long periods of time while she showed pictures of her kids! After our meal we waited another 15 minutes just for the bill! Not a good anniversary experience! I didnt feel like i was at the savoy i remember from when I was younger but at a high price diner!
We weren't from the area and just happened upon this spot. We were pleased with the extensive menu, bar area and friendly staff. The food was delicious, portions were plenty and the drinks hit the spot. I would definitely recommend this as an option for groups, families or just to get out for the night.
We were a party of 10 with reservations. We were seated promptly even though 1 couple was late. Drinks etc were offered Once everyone was there and orders taken things took a big slowdown It wa 90 minutes from ordering to serving. The server did apologize; but we only survived because we're good friends and had a lot to talk about.
Through the years, I came to associate Merighi's Savoy with family gatherings (esp for after funeral luncheons). Normally we have an impromptu dinner out at Maplewood; last Saturday Maplewood had over an hour wait, and my hubby suggested that we go to Merighi's instead of standing three deep at their small bar.
Your service gave me the info I needed to make a reservation. My son and I have celiac disease, and we need to eat gluten free. I easily made a reservation, and across town we went.
The bistro (room you enter when you walk in) was empty, save for a few tables. The waitress promptly greeted me, and seated us. Within minutes, we had water, and a huge basket of assorted breads.
Within about 10 minutes, drinks were served, and orders taken. Salad was served in a huge bowl, very tasty and fresh- more than enough for the three of us. The clams casino were without breadcrumbs, and very flavorful. The shrimp in the cocktail were very large, and tasty. The menu is pared down to classics, including local produce and dishes enjoyed by their clientele, many of which have been diners here for decades. There is something for everyone, the choices all were well described, so you can check and be sure you can eat it.
The entrees were very good, esp the Cape May chicken. My order was lump crab, in a red pasta sauce on GF pasta and arugula, cheese on top. It was terrible; the pasta was overcooked to the point that it was inedible. To please my husband, I ate what I could.
When the bus boy came and offered me a box, I refused it. Within minutes, the manager arrived, and was very concerned that my dinner was not up to snuff. (he did not charge us for the dinner). We had a talk about the proper way to cook GF pasta . Mr Merighi told me he welcomed assistance in improving his menu, including developing vegan dishes for customers.
Merighi's is a comfortable local bistro that cares very much about their diners. We will surely go and eat there again.
I had passed this restaurant many times, but never stopped for dinner. I live about 40 Miles away, and usually on the way home when passing by. This past week was my wife's birthday, so we shared dinner with our best friends. Not only did they love it, we did too. Great food, reasonably priced, and wonderful service.
I'd like to thank the management of Merighi's for putting it all together to create a wonderful dining experience. Great job to management and staff.
What a find. We were at NJ Motorsports Park for an event and wanted to find a decent restaurant for dinner. There weren't many options withing 15 miles, so we decided to try Merighi's based on the Open Table reviews. It was exactly what we were looking for. Delicious, Italian comfort food in an extremely friendly environment. It's a family owned joint, and it totally shows. There is also an outside bar area that is pretty hoppin' so plan to stay for some after dinner fun! See you next year!!!!
Great spot to have a martini at the bar or a romantic dinner. The food is well prepared and tastes great. The updated menu has a little bit of what you'd expect at nice bar or bistro. There is an Italian flare to the menu as well as a nice selection of wines.
I had a half dozen oysters as an appy. Wow were they fresh. I was told they were Delaware bay oysters picked up on that morning. My wife had the snow crab legs and I had the Chicken Cacciatorre. Wanted to bring some home for lunch the next day but I could not help myself and ate it all it was sooooo good.
I had a great meal at Merighi's Savoy Inn. The meal started with homemade tomato basil soup that was served hot with great flavor. Our server Melissa made us a nice fresh salad. It was very flavorful with greens, tomatoes, and a good dressing. For entrees, we had the special, salmon picatta, which was well prepared. The salmon was moist and delicious. We also had the crab cakes dinner. The crab cakes were full of lump crab meat, not filler. Vegetables were excellent. The chocolate lava cake finished off the excellent meal. Melissa, our server, provided friendly, excellent service. I would recommend the restaurant very highly and would dine there again when in the Vineland, NJ area.
