Everything that came to our table was out of this world. We'll be going back again and again!
Love the food it's amazing ..love the service ..My favorite waitress is la Colombiana she's the best.. I must say no one will regret eating here ...
The food is always amazing but this time around the service was a bit choppy. Would definitely return as it is one of my favorite places.
I'm from the Caribbean, so I know & grew up with good food. This restaurant is the truth. It DOES not disappoint. Service could have been better but the great food FAR outweighs this one factor.
I drive 45 min to come and eat here, love this place excellent food love the tres leche for desert.
Great food my only complain was the host, she was rude, they didnt ask us if we want something to drink. We got there around 9:40 pm and she told us that the restaurant its almost closing , but you guys have reservation for 9:45 that means that kitchen should be open past 10pm but other than that love this place
Gladys was extremely warm, sweet, patient and professional. Service was quick, but not too quick, so we were able to truly relax and enjoy. Live music was an unexpected treat. The singer sounded professional, my friend literally could not believe it was not a recording! A neighboring table was celebrating a BDay, and the staff & singer sung to her in English & Spanish. Nice homey touch. I paid with a Gilt voucher, and they were accommodating without any issue whatsoever. We felt we were treated like VIP.
Amazing Dominican authentic food. I would recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends.
Just delicious. Went here with my boyfriend on a recomendation from a friend, was worth it, I'd go again.
I am Dominican, and I have to say that Merengue is the best Dominican restaurant in the Boston area. We just celebrated my husband's birthday and the staff was very professional and service was great. The food was amazing....well presented, flavorful and plenty! You get the Latin flavor as soon as you walk into the restaurant. It is beautifully decorated with authentic Dominican decor. If you are looking for a great experience, you will not be disappointed.
I thought it would be tastier, but it was so dry.
What more can I possibly about this place. its amazing and I have never been disappointed.
First impressions are welcoming. The hostess made us wait with no explanation for our table even though many tables were open. The food was good, the service faire, though very slow. It was nearly impossible to get water.
The seafood paella was well seasoned but mostly rice and the bits of seafood way overcooked. Tre leche cake and yuca frieds delicious.
The big downer of the evening was the live music which was blasted from one corner of the room, two tables away from us, effectively making it impossible to converse with our table. A request to bring down the music was turned down. The music itself was nice, but we came to enjoy food and friends, not for a concert. That very much dampened the night.
3 things that I ordered were not available on a Friday night. Not sure if that is a common occurrence.
The food at Merengue is always great and the pops of color enveloping the restaurant adds to the ambiance. Its a true caribbean feel.
Four of us dined here. We ordered enough food for 6 or 7. The items all 4 of us agreed were excellent:
Some liked and some did not:
Spanish Rice and Beans,
....just kidding! The waitress took our order three times: when we came in, then after the fryer broke, then again after it was fixed. We waited 40-50 minutes for dry fish and a chicken that was smothered in so much sauce, you couldn't see it. It was very underwhelming and I definitely do not plan on going back anytime soon.
Excellent food, fresh squeezed "adult: beverages, and a fun atmosphere!
Good food. Service could be improved.
my dinner came out 30 minutes after all the others' at the table. While the server and host were apologetic, there wasn't much I could do but wait. They did give us a free desert. Nice staff, but something went wrong in the kitchen.
Great food and fruit shakes. I've had the asopao de langosta several times and the bowl is full of lobster meat. One small issue is that things tend to be a bit salty, but otherwise, everything is flavorful and the service is friendly.
Passion fruit daiquiri is fantastic. Great service and delicious food.
Fantastic Paella! Very friendly. Would go again.
Lots and lots of fun. The food wasn't our preference, but that may have been a personal taste thing. Great vibe, super upbeat, and real nice owners.
Neighborhood a little intimidating but great spot for a quick and inexpensive lunch. My seafood platter was so so but my hubby enjoyed his steak. Great ambiance and decor and very clean. Wait staff very attentive.
Amazing restaurant! Great service, delicious ethnic food, and a wonderful experience. Restaurant accommodates my group of 27 very well. Will be coming again and again!
Never a disappointment...Great ambience and finger licking food. Must have Maduros or tostones
Awesome authentic dominican food I have been to Merengue countless times and never had a bad meal
Great food (only complaint is that it was a bit salty), excellent variety and prices. Good value.
Diamond in the ruff! THe whole red snapper in coconut sauce is a must try. Everything was affordable. The drinks were stiff and delicious. The service was definitely slow.. very Dominican. So if you are on a time crunch, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to kickback and sip on a cocktail while your dinner is served up, this is a fun place. Great music. Fun, colourful ambience. I will definitely go back.
this was our second time at Merengue. The food was just as tasty and plentiful as we remembered (oh the Mofongo and Fried Yucca... So good). However, the service was slow and unfocused. Our waitress forgot our fried yucca, we flagged another waitress (20 minutes later) who said she would put in the order... we never did get that yucca. There were 3 missed drink orders as well and our water glasses were often empty. All that being said - we'll still be back.
Everyone should escape the standard fare and reach out to experience life and food. The Merengue Restaurant is just that experience. It is comfort food from the Dominican Republic. Don't let the location deter you because you will miss something special. I'm making plans to another visit soon.
