Mere Bulles Ratings and Reviews
Overpriced buffet, limited selection, bland food. Not bad, but not nearly as good as some other reviewers claimed. The waffle station was unattended. No cream cheese or sour cream for crepes. Sausage patties were basically bricks. She crab soup is very floury tasting. Lemon chicken and fish were good. Creme Brulee French toast is weird, but tasted fine.
La Mere provides a good standard continental menu with French and Southern accents. All the orders including salads were good, but not highly memorable. We were able to carry on a conversation as the acoustics were good, but found the main dining room to be a bit on the dark side in terms of decor. Our server, "Kijuan" was highly professional and well informed about all aspects of the menu and wine list. Deserts are made in house and exceeded expectations. Overall, a solid experience, but not outstanding.
I throw my diet out the window when my husband and I dine at Mere Bulles for Sunday morning brunch. I go for the Creme Brulee French toast and always have at least 2 servings. I would venture to say that this restaurant has the best brunch around. We were disappointed in whatever brand of bacon offered this time and am hoping it was just temporary. It was the thin kind and tasted like the grease or oil it was most likely fried in. That was a first for us because good bacon should always be included in a brunch. Other than that--no complaints. Our server, Bob, who told us he is a fixture there on Sunday mornings, is attentive and friendly. We go about 4 times a year, because we want it to remain special to us. It was a lovely dining experience---it has been each time we have been.
Disappointed in quality of food, just not that good. Had bisque which was good, salad served in a small bowl. Two entrees, one with too much asparagus, too much risotto, and other entree was a fish and the way it was prepared did not even taste it. Carrot cake was too heavy, too dark and the worst I have ever had. Waiter not particularly friendly, did not give us his name. Dinner was way overly priced considering our perception of the quality and dining experience. Would not go back.
They didn't have Heineken or Miller High Life Beer. The dinner rolls that came were very hard and I had to ask for soft & fresh rolls. I ordered a filet with mashed potatoes which were cold and sent them back to be warmed up. The potatos came back hot but I've been at other Fine Dining restaurants where they would have brought me a whole new order of potatos. Lastly, when I received my check I noticed that the Mushroom Caps that I ordered for an appetizer was $10 but was $9 on the menu. They did provide me with a dessert to go, which I really didn't want but they insisted. Over all I was disappointed with my experience at Mere Bulles.
I had lunch here last year and really loved it, so I booked dinner for a group during this trip to Nashville. I was very disappointed and will not go back for dinner, 2 of the 4 entries were not good, I sent back my entrée. The desserts were very good but just would not go back for dinner overall the food was average at best. Too many great restaurants in this area to go here.
This is an upscale restaurant and dining experience. The wait staff is knowledgeable and professional. Lots of upscale wines, more on the dry side, but the Reisling was excellent. The food is creative and combinations are delicious. Let the wait staff know how long to cook the protein. I have had almost everything on the menu at one time or another. I recommend the lamb chops, steak, pork chops, tuna, salmon. Shellfish was undercooked. The key lime pie is to die for. It is really expensive and not a place to take children.
It was Thanksgiving and very crowded. We had to wait outside 20 min. for our reservation. Good food but pricey for what we got. Excellent service. Noisy due to large number of people. I would go again but not for a holiday meal. I've been there for brunch and it was much better, more reasonably priced and not as congested.
Our meal took 45+ minutes..other tables that had ordered after us, were served before we were..prime rib was ordered well done ..was served rare.. and by the time it got reserved I was nearly done with my dinner...so we really did not eat together...very unimpressed
We love Mere Bulles and will continue to return and recommend to anyone. Just found it to be overpriced for Thanksgiving dinner items like Turkey and dressing with no real flair. Not up to their usual impeccable standards. Service was great as always, very good wine and a bonus since we didn't have to cook! Had so many great dinners, drinks on the patio and look forward to more.
Thanksgiving was unusual and rather different this year. Our family was scattered, so my aunt, cousin, sister and I decided to go to Mere Bulles for Thanksgiving dinner. Service was great. Almost too much attention. There were always people stopping at our table to see if we needed anything. The food was good, but way overpriced. $70 for a meal, salad and glass of wine. The menu was extremely limited-only 3 options for the entree. We were in a sunroom type room. We couldn’t hear each other, but my sister and I could hear people at the 2 tables next to us.
Won’t be going back anytime soon.
We were very disappointed in our experience today. Mainly because the turkey was not real turkey. It was like some big chunk of processed turkey that they carved up. The sides were fair. The shocker here is that the meal cost $45 per person and I think that is ridiculous that they could not even serve real turkey for that price. They should have done way better than that for the price, area and clientele. I mean they have a valet but not REAL turkey for Thanksgiving??? Doesn’t make sense....
I still have respect for their Sunday brunch but will not be dining there again for Thanksgiving. Our waiter was fantastic. Chad was attentive, professional and funny.
I am a frequent diner at Mere Bulles due to an excellent dining experience each time. This time was with my wife and her friend from out of town, to give him a great Nashville dining experience. As usual, and I mean every time, everything at Mere Bulles was excellent.
For food, we had the renowned she-crab bisque, sea bass, salmon and the special of the night which was red snapper. All were simply excellent. We ordered a bottle of good wine, always half price, and again had an excellent experience.
The service was excellent, as always, due to Mere Bulles retaining their wait staff over years. Some of the waiters have been there for the past 7 or so years I have been dining there.
Just can't recommend Mere Bulles enough for excellently prepared food, service excellence in an elegant southern atmosphere.
Really a nice options for a Casual Friends Lunch. Fresh, very tasty salads. Nice menu selections for a lunch menu! Although the restaurant was quite busy during the lunch hours, it was easy to chat at our table and have a semi-private conversation. The staff did not rush us. We chat a long while after dining and were made to feel welcomed not rushed. The coffee could be served at a hotter temperature and they really should find a more flavorful, bold coffee. ** Important note for people with severe allergies. The staff immediately made me feel that they would take seriously my food severe food allergies. Our Waitstaff , I believe her name was Katie, checked with the kitchen and assured me that my food would have no exposure to the two most serious food allergies that I stated. When one has severe food allergies, it can only be enjoyable to dine out, if one is certain that the restaurant TRULY takes severe for allergies seriously. I was able to enjoy my food!!!
The service was excellent. We were treated to a sample of the She-Crab Bisque and desert on the house for our anniversary. Both were superb. Not to mention that the wine is half price if you buy it by the bottle. They also allow you to cork and leave with any leftovers. My overall rating is a 4/5 stars due to the mediocre Filet Mignon. The Bisque would have been the way to go for sure. I feel that the seafood is their strong point. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The noise level was a little bit over what I would have liked, but it was only because we were near a large party. I would recommend this restaurant if you have never been.
Mere Bulles never fails to please...one member of our group did have a problem with her fish. She did not want a replacement, but we were not charged for the dish and she was even given a gift card....good handling by your staff...I would say that the chef who cooked her fish should have picked up on the odor of the fish, which was strong and ammonia-y....with fish, if you can smell it, throw it out...
