Mercury Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time in the new location.... great atmosphere... love the piano and singing... it is small... we were sorted in the corner by the bathroom.. not exactly where we wanted to be.. but the live music made up for it! The two people singing and playing piano was amazing! Our server was very attentive and funny... food is always amazing here. Not the typically Fort Worth steakhouse... with the New York style... Recommend you try it! Will be back!
My dining experience at Mercury was excellent! I booked reservations for two for dinner on New Years Eve and we had a great time, great meal, and great experience. The filet minion was cooked to perfection and was just the right portion size. The baked Mac N' Cheese was delicious! Live music, a piano player, started playing around 9pm and was a great end to our dining experience!
Food was delicious.Service was excellent, biggest problem was the restroom was disgusting. Our table was in the basement, which was nice that our large party had plenty of room. However, there was only one bathroom (which wasn’t a problem) it was dirty for such a nice place.
We had mixed feelings concerning our recent visit to Mercury. It was our first time to be at the new location. It's great that it has a separate bar area and the main dining area is beautiful. They are guilty of the "get as many tables as the room will hold" idea in lieu of "get as many tables as are comfortable for our guests". Just TOO close together. Guests need to be able to move their chairs without fear of hitting another guests/server and guests need to be able to converse quietly with some level of privacy.
The food on the main menu was superb. The Christmas meal was disappointing in that, for 50.00, there was VERY little turkey and the ham was not stellar.
The server was extremely helpful, well-trained, and polite. We did have a problem with the bill in that we were told that the 50.00 included a small, house salad along with tea or coffee. When the bill was presented, there was a hefty charge for both. When we pointed it out to him, he apologized and said it was an over-site and he removed the salad, but not the 3.50 coffee. These are problems you don't want to deal with when wanting to enjoy a meal out.
have dined at Chop House for many years, previously very happy, however, since change of venue, much less satisfied. Booked table for 8 for Christmas Eve well in advance, when we arrived, we were initially seated in a cold basement, extra chairs stacked along the walls, TERRIBLE ambiance. Very, very shocked!!!!
Since that was not satisfactory, we were seated in the bar area by the piano. service was fair.
Overall, the last few times I have dined at Chop House, very disappointing compared to experience at previous venue. There are many excellent upscale restaurants downtown so most likely won't be back to Chop house
Traditionally we have our Christmas Eve dinner for 8 people at Eddie V's, but waited too long to make the reservation this year and the only steak house that could accommodate us was Mercury Chop House.
We had a reservation, but when we arrived they directed us to a table downstairs in the basement all alone. That was vetoed immediately and they ended up putting together a few tables in a long row near the restrooms and service area. It was difficult for all of us to have a conversation and it was cold and drafty, but there was nothing else available in the regular area of the restaurant.
Initially, service was very slow, but eventually was very good. We placed our drink order and then based on recommendations from our waiter, we ordered a couple of appetizers to start: Fried Calamari and Moroccan Beef Cigars. Neither one was worth ordering again.
With all of that said, each and every one of the entrees was OUTSTANDING and based on that alone we would return in a minute. In fact, we all agreed that the food was better than Eddie V's. We ordered the Filet Mignon, New York Strip Steak, Pork Chops, Lamb Shank, and Short Ribs. The salads and sides were delicious as well. We passed on dessert, so can't review that.
All in all, with exception of the appetizers that we ordered, all of the food was some of the best ever. Unfortunately, the atmosphere simply did not match the food at all. Even if we had been seated in the main dining area of the restaurant instead of in the dark, cold service area there were flat screen TVs over the bar which was situated in the dining area. More reminiscent of a sports bar than a high-end restaurant.
When we arrived they sat us downstairs which was a totally different ambience with a weird smell. We requested to get moved upstairs and they did. The service was not good, the waitress was rude and when she forgot one of our drinks, we asked another waiter who informed her and she made it a point to come over and say “I’m told you want a mojito” with a disturbed look. The prime ribeye was chewy and didn’t have good flavor.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant is good. The tables are set up for large groups of 6 or 8 or more people. We were seated at an extended booth but there were two other people there. Not a cozy set up for a party of two for an intimate birthday celebration. Pork chops no comparison to Cacharel but filet mignon was good! The unlisted price for a side ($9.50 for about 3 brussels sprouts) is just crazy! Service had several minor glitches. Had to ask for drink, a menu and such. Time will certainly help this aspect! Glad to have a new option in Arlington!
Service was soooo slow and they weren't busy. Sat for almost 20 minutes when a waiter came to take drink order and we had to ask for wine list. Aother 20 min we finally got some of our drinks and then he asked if we were ready to order. We had to remind him we never got menus. Entire time there was just over 2 hours and we didn't even order appetizers or dessert.
Felt safer than ever because most of the customers were police. Turned out Mercury has a 7 year old tradition of serving dinner to police who have to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas. By the numbers they serve 240 dinners and deliver another 70 to the station.
Service was charming and timely. Food was pricey, but just right for both fish and steak. Wine list was overpriced with a few items more reasonable.
We went there for Thanksgiving Dinner. I had indicated I had a gluten allergy which they never addressed from my reservation. The meal was not what was advertised. No cranberry walnut salad just a regular green salad. Main course came and was OK. I had to send mine back because they put gravy on it after I ordered it without gravy. Then had to ask for the ham sauce and cranberry sauce. My husband had finished half his meal before I got mine. They advertised pecan and pumpkin pie but had neither. Chocolate cake and peach cobbler. They did bring me a bowl of berries. I had to ask for whipped cream. Nice restaurant but not pleased with their lack of attention and blasé service. Probably won’t go back. Very disappointed in this expensive holiday meal which was done so poorly
Drove around the restaurant twice looking for the valet guys, nobody was outside on a Friday night. Parked down the block in a parking lot that required validation. Thought the restaurant would validate, they didn’t, ended up paying $20 for parking. Food menu was dirty from people’s hands and also had a tear in the page. Desert menu was even dirtier. Food was ok. Extremely overpriced. If I’m going to pay $200 dollars for a meal then I’m going to go to The Capital Grill or Eddie V’s where I know the food is great and the place is impeccable. Won’t be back.
The service was amazing.... we literally made a reservation at 5:58pm on open table for a party of 8 for 6:15pm on a Saturday night. Not only was our table ready at 6:10pm, we were sat immediately. The server knew we were in a hurry to catch a movie so our service was quick and on point! The food was excellent.
Food was very good, the service was poor. The waiter was inattentive and disconnected from our group. Salads came out - forgot the dressing; dinner came out forgot the sides. We were a table of 4 and we were ordering sides, which by the way the waiter said was served “family style”. The asparagus came out - 5 pieces for 4 of us. We we we expecting much different and if we had been advised, order a second side of asparagus. We ordered dessert and coffee. Dessert was served and the coffee... well let’s just say it finally got there. They had the brew a new pot but the waiter never said anything. Not going back anytime soon
Overall our dinner with friends was excellent. Mike our waiter was very knowledgeable and his attention was spot on. The food was perfect and timely. My only negative was it was difficult to find s the corner for entrance was dark and the valet was very hard to see for parking. Otherwise a perfect evening !!
We did not have a good experience this time. We told our server immediately that we had tickets to a show, but service was still slow and it took a very long time to get our food. We both ordered Tuna and it did not arrive until 5 minutes before we needed to leave, despite putting in our order in well enough time to have received it much sooner. We both found the tuna "fishy" tasting. We eat tuna a lot, and had to send our tuna back. We left, having had only drinks and side salads. The manager did not even come over to speak with us.
First time at Mercury Chop House. The dinner was fine, not great. My steak and my companions were good , but not of the quality you can get at other fine dining establishments in Fort Worth. The service was just ok and the food just Ok. Del Frisco's, Capital Grill, Eddie V's, and Bonnells are much better fine dining places. Mercury is not bad, just not impressive.
This was our first visit since the Chop House moved to its new location.....it is very different but quite lovely. The food was delicious.....salads crispy....steak tender and pork chop done perfectly. Desserts were yummy. Our server was extremely attentive.....and made the whole experience wonderful. We certainly will return.
