The artisan cheeses and house-cured meats at Mercato BYOB are perfect for sharing and are paired with sauces and condiments like agrodolce and pickled white grapes. A whole grilled artichoke appetizer will undoubtedly turn you into the vegetable's biggest fan. Heavier dishes, like the Grilled Hanger Steak with yukon gold potato wedge, are equally impressive. Mercato BYOB opens at 4 p.m. The restaurant has a four course tasting menu that is ideal for groups.

food was average, loudest restaurant I have ever experienced. People were shouting. very unpleasant experience.
Our server did not seem receptive to our questions, and the special appetizer of the night was surprisingly expensive as their was a similar appetizer for half the cost available on the menu. The food was also a little bit pricer than what I felt was worth trying.
Wow! We were a party of 4 and we each ordered different starters and mains and a side, so we had 9 different dishes to sample. All were outstanding! We will definitely return!
A perfect BYOB. Great service and food. Had the mussels and crab squid ink pasta and so delicious.
Love this place for special occasions and date night
So happy to discover this restaurant! The food was delicious and there was a happy banter throughout the room. Enjoyed the specials and will return for the artichoke!
Trying to be flexible with restaurants as they begin to reopen and deal with staffing issues, but the was a true miss. Food was flavorless, the presentation was horrible, and it was no where near worth the money. Hoping they go back to the quality food they used to serve.
Yu can't go wrong with Mercato. Everything on the menus is imaginative and really delicious. The meatball appetizer is a must, as is any fish main course.
As a long time Mercato lover, I would say that their regular menu items shine a lot brighter than what we had during restaurant week. While I was a little disappointed with the lack of flavor in the Cacio e Pepe, I will certainly be back soon for some pyramid pasta (:
We tried Mercato on restaurant week. Nice variety of appetizers and entrees from which to choose. Food was delicious. Outdoor dining allowed for easy conversation. Very pleasant, attentive service. Will definitely return.
The first courses and main courses were simply excellent. Truly mouthwatering. We could have easily been in a fine restaurant in Italy, an experience that we are lucky enough to have had on many occasions. The desserts, however, were disappointing. They felt like they may have been supplied by an outside provider, and so oddly out of step with the extraordinarily high level of cooking for the entrees and first courses. Still, despite the desserts, we had an amazing evening.
The food and service remain amazing.... Fred Manfred
Absolutely adorable little spot!! The service was great and the food was wonderful - we did restaurant week which was a great deal! Will definitely be back
Great place as always. Came for restaurant week and our party had the panzanella salad (which is supposed to have bread or croutons in it- this one didn’t, it was just a regular salad), whipped burrata fig toast, cacio e Pepe pasta, bolognese, and trout. The piece of trout served was very small- still hungry after. The cacio was heavy on the black pepper but still good. Bolognese could’ve used some more noodles to help soak up the delicious sauce. Mint chocolate cannolis and tiramisu were yummy. Our server was helpful and attentive.
I don' think restaurants show their best food during Restaurant Week. I only selected this date because of a show we planned to attend that evening in town.
That being said, the food was pedestrian at best. You can tell that the courses were not made to order but likely heaved out from a massive container somehow in the back. The temperatures were inconsistent. The freshness was clearly not there.
My pasta was dry and crumbly. My gelato was warm and runny. It was just mass produced and off. I would try Mercado again outside of Restaurant Week. I think they are better than this.
The service was very good. The food was just ok. The fontina meatballs were a little boring. The main dish I got was the Cacio e Pepe. It was somehow extremely peppery and bland at the same time. I definitely would not recommend it. My husband got the pork which was better. The tiramisu was very good, but my portion was about 1/3 the size they show on their website. It wasn’t a bad experience, I just wasn’t that impressed. With so many amazing restaurants in Philadelphia, I don’t think we’ll be back to Mercato anytime soon.
Always a favorite. Due to COVID, seating is compromised outdoors. Would rate ambiance higher if indoors.
Great appetizer (the burrata fig toast) despite one side being heavily burnt; pork Milanese was a bit too dry for my liking.
My wife and I have eaten there quite often as we live in the neighborhood and love the food. We have never had a bad meal there. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating. You should try it. I believe that you will become a regular.
Excellent service and delicious food. We sat outside on the side street and it was lovely - not too many cars and spaced well from other tables. Can't wait to go back!
Excellent except for fruit fly that joined us and wouldn’t leave us alone 🙂
The Rigatoni Pesto had no taste of pesto. It was more creamy than pestoie. The charcuterie board was very good. Overall experience was very pleasant.
Neighborhood gem. Recently have rediscovered. We live down the street. Great outdoor seating during these crazy times. Perfect 2 minute stroll from home. Always made to feel welcome. Dan, Ryan and all the staff always a pleasure.
Meal and service were spot on! Had the Crab Fra Diavlo. Loved it.
This is our favorite place to eat in Philly! We love the staff, Dan and Ryan and we miss Larry! The food is always so good....consistently great! We love this place and highly recommend it!!!
Nothing extraordinary. The food was ok and the places was very noisy.
Outdoor seating in a closed-off street on a summer night is perfect!
Mercato continues to offer wonderful and delicious food. This was our fourth time and promise to return again. Great neighborhood restaurant.
Fantastic food and a phenomenal staff. Chef Anthony was great too, super friendly as well!
We ate outside. Food was fine (clam toast, crab fra diavalo, short ribs, cheesecake), service very cheerful and attentive, steel chairs not so great. Appreciated BYO.
We eat there quite often. As usual, our dinners last night were unbelievable. Tasty, filling and everything we expect Mercato's food to be. The added bonus is the superb wait staff who are attentive and there if you need them. We are happy that this restaurant is in our neighborhood. We will be back very soon.
Fish and pasta were. fabulous. Service was excellent
So excited to make this our new Italian spot since we moved onto the street a month ago. Really disappointing experience, our server was pretty short and unfriendly from the moment we sat down but we didnt take it personally and just assumed she were having a bad day.
My roommate pointed out that the server would occasionally walk out of the door and glare at us but I told her she was probably just seeing how far along we were with our appetizers. We finished the appetizers and waited for around 15 more mins before the server came over to ask us if we wanted any dessert. We let her know we never received our entrees and she said she thought that we had. We then waited for 40 minutes and our food was finally brought out to us (very unapologetically).
At this point, it was over an hour after our reservation started and my roommate had a work call with her international company in 20 minutes (we didnt trust that they would give us the bill in that amount of time), so we had to ask them to box it up. They didnt seem to care whatsoever that we were having an uncomfortable experience dining with them.
Almost felt like we did something to insult them or upset them, honestly just really sad about the way the night went and really confused. The lack of apology, bizarre attitude from the server, and 1 hour wait time for food felt like it was intentional. We'll stick to Ambrosia on Locust and 24th for our Italian dining.
My husband and I came to Mercato for our anniversary. We've been to Mercato a few times (including on our elopement day a year ago) and knew it would be great. We sat outdoors on Camac Street. Tables were a little uneven but a server (manager?) helped straighten them out whenever she noticed someone's table was wobbling. It's to be expected in a streatery! The service was a little slow, but that was because they were super busy at 7:30pm when we arrived for our reservation and I was glad they've come back. The menu is mostly staples with a few dishes rotating with seasonal flavors. We ordered our usuals - fontina-stuffed meatballs, charcuterie (a burrata), chicken parmesan, and the pyramid pasta. Everything was delicious as we expected/remembered and the portions were perfect. Overall a great dinner and we'll almost definitely be back again!
Just love this place! Food is always incredible and the staff is friendly. I moved from Philly, but always make sure to stop back in whenever I’m in town. Get a bottle of wine and enjoy some of Philly’s best Italian.
Perfectly cooked swordfish on top of a lovely carrot purée.
Heavy hand on the salad dressing.
We have eaten at Mercato many, many times without being disappointed. Anthony, the chef, is excellent. The food is always fresh and prepared to your taste. What more do you need?
Everything was delicious!
Chef Anthony is amazing! Our meal of clam toast, crab fra diavlo, and grilled swordfish was sublime. We had the delicious blueberry cheesecake and pana cotta topped with strawberries for dessert. The service was terrific and the dining room was super comfortable, clean, and felt safe with the front glass fully open. All of the outdoor seating was filled to capacity. My first dining experience since Covid started and Mercato BYOB was worth the wait!!
This was my first time at Mercado and the food was amazing.
