Mercato BYOB is a festive and modern Italian eatery that lets you bring your own drinks. A simple and to the point menu focuses on quality over quantity and features items like ricotta raviolo and a spicy crab bucatini with squid ink pasta.
The artisan cheeses and house-cured meats at Mercato BYOB are perfect for sharing and are paired with sauces and condiments like agrodolce and pickled white grapes. A whole grilled artichoke appetizer will undoubtedly turn you into the vegetable's biggest fan. Heavier dishes, like the Grilled Hanger Steak with yukon gold potato wedge, are equally impressive. Mercato BYOB opens at 5 p.m. The restaurant has a four course tasting menu that is ideal for groups.CASH ONLY
Mercato is one of our favorites. The food is always delicious utilizing fresh, seasonal ingredients and prepared very creatively. Service is always outstanding - friendly and informed. BYOB is a plus. Noise level can be loud, but it’s a small place and you know to expect it. Often, it isn’t a problem at all. Highly recommend this charm of a restaurant.
We arrived early and were able to be seated immediately. We sat at a table outside along the sidewalk and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and ambiance it provided. Our waiter provided the perfect balance between service and giving us our alone time. The food was fantastic, one of my more memorable experiences in the city. I would highly recommend for anyone seeking a byob with a comfortable “neighborhood feel.”
Came to Mercato on a friends recommendation and were not disappointed!! Food was delicious, we were able to eat outside and being able to bring our own wine made the meal quite affordable! One in our party had special diet and they were extremely accommodating!! Will definitely return!!!
One of my fav spots in philly
Good food and service. Frenetic atmosphere. Italian comfort food.
Had such a great experience. Our server and everyone who touched our table that night was fantastic
Anthony, the chef is awesome. The food delicious as was the presentation. Desserts we're s sweet ending to a wonderful dinner.
Date night with husband!!
Delightful experience! This was my second time at Mercato. As noted above, ambience the dish was filled with bacon bits & the menu did not indicate that bacon bits was part of the side dish (we did let our server know).
Food was fantastic!! The bolognese was incredible, would definitely go back!
We really enjoyed our evening. Dinner was great as well as the ambiance and staff. I will definitely go back.
Excellent long time menu staples with new creations to add variety. Attentive staff. Really enjoyable.
Authentic Italian food in a relaxed setting. (And I was dining with a real Italian!) Service was impeccable. As the restaurant got crowded the noise level was noticeable but did not necessitate shouting to one’s dinner companion. Great value for outstanding quality.
Solid BYOB go to. Food great. Staff is very professional and lovely. We like to sit in the window and watch the world go by.
We found Mercato by chance and did not realize it was BYOB but their sister restaurant was across the street and we were able to procure a bottle there.
The food was excellent. We share two sampler plates for starters and each had a different entree and each was excellent.
The food was not as good as it used to be. The mussels was a huge disappointment.
From the indifferent greeting by the hostess to the constant hovering of the staff, the experience was not a pleasant one. They made the cardinal mistake common among untrained or poorly trained staff of removing plates before all four of us were finished. The restaurant was Empty at the time , but my wife was asked on several occasions if she was done. Our reservation was at 6:00 on a Tuesday night so they were not busy at all. The food was quite good but the unappealing dessert list and amateurish staff caused us to go elsewhere for dessert. They really didn’t care if we were there or not. Too bad, because the chef deserves better.
Perfect for a celebration of a specialty meal. Always great service and will continue to come back.
Mercato is a gem. The food is wonderful and the service is great. Now that the weather is nice, I can sit outside with my daughter and her dog.
Pesto garganelli was awesome as were the hot & sweet peppers as an appetizer. Debbie and the whole crew took great care of us. We’ll be back soon.
I love this place, the old building, the open kitchen, the food - it's all great. It's pretty loud and crowded when the place is busy, though there is the option to sit outside in nice weather. With the windows and door open, it was comfortable on a warm spring night, and the people watching was great. Food's excellent. Don't forget it's cash only and BYOB.
The homemade pasta dishes are yummy. We had the bolognese and short rib pasta dishes this time and both were delicious. Debbie our server was great. Can't wait to come back and try something else.
Absolutely delicious meal. Quick service, cute atmosphere.
Experience was OK wasn’t my favorite meal here. Octopus appetizer special was more potato with a few bits of octopus hidden beneath.
Great food and service. This is a neighborhood gem, good for couples and groups.
Dining at Mercato is always a delight. I’d booked an early reservation since we were going to the Kimmel Center. We were seated right away, greeted by our waiter who opened our wine and then let us linger and chat and catch up without ever making us feel like we were taking too long to order. So refreshing and not the norm when dining in the city these days. I love the atmosphere; the windows were open, even though it was a cool and drizzly evening. The food was great-we shared the grilled artichoke appetizer and each ordered the wild mushroom risotto- delish. Key lime pie tart for dessert was a perfect finish.
we have been to Mercato a number of times. This visit was somewhat disappointing. The roasted artichoke we shared was very good, and my husband’s chicken dish was also very good, but a little too spicy, even when he didn’t eat the long peppers. The tuna main course was over cooked and dry and really undistinguished in every way for $34. The cheesecake was anything but light, although tasty. Even tough this was a BYO it was still expensive and we concluded it was not worth the price, especially given so many other choices today.
Great food! Went for the $35 deal for three courses. It was great value.
Pasta dish was mushy not near al denti and poor showing for Italian style restaurant.
Mussels were not nearly PEI but small and covered with cannelloni beans to cover up tiny size.
Sorbetto was south Philly ices not sorbetto.
Always a go to place when we're in Philadelphia. The food is always excellent, pasta dishes are divine. There are not many BYOB restaurants and this one is outstanding!
We sat outside, great place to be in the gayborhood on a nice night. Next time I am going to try ordering only appetizers--entrées were smaller than the fantastic mussels we got, yet priced as if much larger. From host to runners to servers, the flamboyant waitstaff are kind, patient and helpful, though you'll have to hound them for bread as they don't seem to want to give nearly enough to satisfy a true Italian diet. Bring a lot of wine, enjoy!
Neat little neighborhood restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. BYOB and cash only which we knew ahead. Special 3 course meals or off the menu dining. Suggest off the menu.
Portions are large!
We went here on the recommendation from my son. First impression was cool vibe, nice setting. When we sat down restaurant was about half full, noise level ok. As the restaurant filled the noise level became overwhelming. I know that this is trendy, but I like to hear my wife while we dine. Ordered the grilled octopus appetizer, outstanding! Dinner was wild mushroom risotto and the pyramid pasta with shrimp and lobster, presentation was beautiful. First, risotto was very flavorful, small portions (no problem), have had better. The pyramid pasta was an elegant presentation, that’s where we should have stopped. Shrimp and lobster must have walked through the very good ricotta filling, but we didn’t order regular ravioli. As we ate our meal, noise level became unbearable, I guess if your young, hip ((and we know that this now a dining trend,) this works, but for us we like a restaurant where you can do more than smile at your wife and guess what she is saying. Outside maybe works better for us but food was ok, not going back. Sorry
Service was excellent. We had carrot ginger soup which was delicious. The “chicken parm” was more like chicken cacciatore.
We ended our delightful meal with pistachio gelato.
Overall- a very nice meal.
Wonderfully prepared meal. Great wait staff.
Fantastic food, great service!! Loved the new spring menu!!
Great food, wonderful staff and a nice environment. Put them together and you have a delightful dinner.
Food was absolutely delicious, space was intimate, ambiance was authentic
