The artisan cheeses and house-cured meats at Mercato BYOB are perfect for sharing and are paired with sauces and condiments like agrodolce and pickled white grapes. A whole grilled artichoke appetizer will undoubtedly turn you into the vegetable's biggest fan. Heavier dishes, like the Grilled Hanger Steak with yukon gold potato wedge, are equally impressive. Mercato BYOB opens at 4 p.m. The restaurant has a four course tasting menu that is ideal for groups.

The place was empty but they rushed us thru our meal. The open kitchen staff kept throwing pans and pots around, unbearable noise
We live close to Mercato and love to eat there. The food is marvelous and the service is wonderful. And, being a BYO we can bring whatever we want.
excellent italian meal - is byob with no corkage fee so quite inexpensive. Meatball appetizer was great as were our two pastas highly recommended
Best restaurant in Philly hands down
The best dish from our dinner was clearly the Pasta Bolognese - a home-run! The special appetizer (salmon toast) wasn’t particularly special. However, Mussels were good and the service, waitstaff were top-notch!
Our first time there. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Food was delicious, especially the short ribs on polenta!! And the pistachio cheesecake was a must have desert. The ambiance was subtly romantic!! Highly recommend!!!
Quaint spot with great Italian food at a price that is extremely fair for what you get.
The food was excellent and the outdoor dining setup was very nice.
I went there for dinner on Saturday night, made reservations for 7:30pm. I’ve heard so many good things about this restaurant and finally decided to check it out. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was. The service was non existent, she didn’t seem to care at all! Didn’t check up on us, had to get up from our seats 3 times to get a waiter. The food was just ok. I would say to save your money and go elsewhere. Don’t spend your money on a restaurant where they don’t care about you. Not worth to waste your hard earned money here. Will not be returning here and will advise all mg friends the same! Also I don’t leave reviews but for this restaurant I had, because that’s how terrible it was!
The food was absolutely amazing. We got the gnocchi and short rib which were two completely different tastes that worked so well in comparison of one another.
The service was not the worst I’ve seen but it was lacking substantially especially compared to the food. It was tough to get our order in and/or get our waitress’ attention. This was my second time at this restaurant and it will not be the last but if next time the service isn’t good, I will probably not come back.
We ate outside. The table was rusted and hit didn’t even have a placemat. We put our utensils directly on that table. The appetizers were good. The Clam linguini which was my main dish, did not taste like clams or anything. I would not go back.
The food was excellent, had a bit of an issue with the service in the beginning but when Dan the Manager found out he went over & above to make sure that we were happy, he was awesome! Had the braised beef and the trout dinners and both were delicious. The appetizers and dessert were also second to none. Great place, would go back there in a second.
Overpriced for just ok food.
Never disappointed at Mercato. The food is amazing. This last visit we ordered the market plate with prosciutto, burrata, toasted baguette slices, and olive oil. The prosciutto and burrata were super fresh, full of flavor, and delicious. Our entreés were the braised rib. A rich savory sauce on the most tender beef sliced and laid on top of perfectly roasted veggies and a creamy polenta. A lemon pistachio cheesecake bar, which was light and creamy and refreshing, rounded out the meal with a cup of cappuccino. One our favorite places continues to hold its top spot. Great for any type of occasion, or simply a place to stop for a great meal.
Amazing food, great service. Super cozy spot, perfect for a date night or small get together with friends :)
So great. Loved it! The Tiramisu was amazing!
Came here for outdoor dining and had a great experience! The food was outstanding, our servers were wonderful and thanks to the small and discreet space heater under the table, our 2-person tent was comfortable without needing to wear our jackets. If you come here you MUST order the whipped ricotta and fig toast! Would absolutely come here again!
The ambience and vibe was wonderful, as was the social distancing precautions. Our waiter was rude, food was cold, and main ingredients were left out of our entrees.
This was our second exceptional meal at mercato. We ate in one of their outdoor bubbles on a February evening. Everything was extremely clean and our bubble was toasty warm. Exceptional covid dining experience!!
Overall a good dinner but the inside of the restaurant was absolutely freezing which made it difficult to enjoy the experience.
Timing was perfect- not slow but also not rushed. The market salad was so good! Also had meatball app which was delicious. The portion sizes for the entrees were HUGE. I mean like each entree is two large meals. Lamb pasta was amazing and so was gnocchi Gorgonzola. Waiters were very friendly.
Excellent food and service with responsible COVID guidelines adherence. I felt confident safely dining here outdoors. We are already planning our return visit!
The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding.
We felt safe and were socially distanced from the other patrons.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant. We had a great experience.
Excellent food and service. Room well set up for distancing. We love it here.
We ate outside in their “bubble “ and it was very comfortable, not cold at all! We had the crab and lobster bisque and the clam toast, both of which were very good, my son had the trout and said it was Good, the portion was a bit small, I had the risotto which was good but I expected more flavor and more to it, not much shellfish in it, the last dish was the triangle pasta, again not a lot of flavor, all I could taste was the tomato sauce, it was nice that it was a byob, I’ve eaten at most of the restaurants in Philadelphia so I’m afraid my expectations have become pretty high since there are so many good restaurants to choose from, all in all a solid place with very good service,
Great food and service in the bubble. Was nice and warm on a cold winter night.
excellent atmosphere and great food. Service was also great.
Everything was fantastic as always. Glad that the indoor seating is back!
Service was pretty good and the food was excellent.
Small quaint restaurant, felt a little rushed and employees didn't seem too welcoming at first. Besides that the food was outstanding, had the pyramid pasta and ate the entire plate. Food was very very good. Would definitely go back!
We sat outside in the cute little bubble. It was warm enough to remove our jackets. The food was average, I ordered shirt ribs my boyfriend ordered the crab pasta. We enjoyed ourselves, especially since our options during Covid were limited. I would return.
Celebrated a friends bday here recently. The food was amazing and we loved the ambiance. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something casual and intimate.
Mercato is a special place to my boyfriend and I. From the food to the service, it is amazing. We love to go every chance that we have and it is amazing. Feels like family and from the Market Meat Board to their Pork Chop Parm (seasonal items) to their Tiramisu is amazing. And the fact that it is a BYOB is pretty amazing too. Absolutely recommend to anyone that is looking for a nice cozy spot in the city with amazing food and vibes. And if you don't want to dine out, you can order takeout and the food is still as amazing!!
A delicious meal with great service. We had a lovely dinner.
Absolutely fantastic!!!! Service, food, ambiance - everything!!! Loved our server - so kind and witty. They have done a great job of social distancing indoors and out. Will def be back!
Excellent food, service and was the perfect way to celebrate a birthday!
Awesome first day in the bubble. Had a great time, great food, great service, and even better company. Looking forward to coming back.
We had a lovely experience at Mercato! It was our first dine-in (indoor) experience since the summer and it was much needed. Covid-wise: they're very diligent. All tables spaced out nicely with plexiglass in-between, all servers in masks/shields, QR code menus, etc.
We got the Whipped Ricotta and Fig Toast + Mussels as our appetizers. They are both pretty sizeable appetizers and both delicious! My husband got the Crab Fra Diavlo which got the thumbs up from him plus a good (high) spicy-level which he likes. I got the Pyramid Pasta which was encouraged by the server who told me it had been on the menu since they opened 15 years ago. Delicious flavors and a perfect portion size. Finally, we got the Classic Tiramisu, which was perfectly sweet and moist.
The food came out promptly throughout the meal and they kindly let us linger a bit after dessert to enjoy the rest of our wine. If I were to make one constructive criticism, it's that the music was pretty loud from our table and it was all the same artist (lol). Minor comment but made for a bit of a comical ambience; felt like we were at a sponsored concert by said artist. But if that's the only comment, you're doing a great job.
Fantastic food, great service and atmosphere, perfect date night setting.
