My husband and I went in for lunch. The food was excellent as was the service and the ambiance. As vegetarians, we were happy with the vegetarian options. They were able to make the ricotta ravioli without the shrimp. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely visit again!
We had a reservation at 1:45pm. We arrived 5 minutes early and checked in with the hostess. We were finally seated after 2pm. During our wait, I returned to the hostess stand several times to get an update and she kept saying our table was being cleaned. We watched as multiple parties with the same number of people as ours arrived after us and seated before us. The hostess didn’t seem to care at all about us or the fact that we had a reservation and had been kept waiting. However, this was the only negative part of our experience. Our waitress was great and so was the food.
We were a few blocks away and finished our event and thought we’d like to have dinner somewhere nearby. We found Mercat through OpenTable. What a find it was! A true French Bistro. I’d lived outside Paris 20 years ago and this place was about as French as any I’d been to in Dallas. steak tartare, Lyonnaise salad ... fabulous!
Great brunch spot !
love the food and the atmosphere .
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. ALWAYS HAS GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE!!!
Great Venue with terrific food as always!
This restaurant captures perfectly the cozy feel of an authentic French bistro. There are a number of classic dishes, like coq au vin and duck a l'orange, and some surprises too. The shrimp ravioli was rich and decadent, and the duck was just right. The staff is friendly and always thank us for coming back. It is one of our go-to places when we are attending the symphony or a show at the Winspear.
I love everything about this restaurant! The food, the service, the ambiance is fantastic. I have yet to have a bad meal. We ordered the charcuterie board, the Lyonnaise salad and some almonds to snack on. All delicious! The salad had the perfect amount of lardons and dressing. A filling salad. The only drawback, they ran out of chickens which we wanted for our entree. I thought that was strange because there couldn't have been more than 15-16 patrons that evening and we were there from 7-930pm. There is a good selection on wine and wines by the glass which we did that night because I wanted to start with rose and have a cab (or 2) with my meal. My date wanted a merlot. All the wines were good. I had a Bordeaux by the glass for only $12 and it was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant for everyday dining, a date, lunch, etc.
Excellent food and service!
New staff, hospitality, and warmth lacking now... No longer feels like a experience:(
Mercat never disappoints. The food, service and atmosphere are all incredible.
The restaurant was nice and the service was good. My review of fair for the food was based on what I ordered, which was the chicken entree. It was not in my opinion a successful dish. They did try to rectify it which I appreciate, but I would have ordered something else entirely. My co-worker ordered the vegetable quiche which was absolutely amazing. I would return for the quiche.
This was our first time to Mercat. We wanted to find a nice place to have dinner within walking distance of the AA Center for a concert. Our food, wine, and service were excellent and all for a reasonable price. We'll be back.
I usually love Mercat but this past Sunday brunch was lackluster. I went in craving a pastry basket only to find out that they were out of everything and it was only 1pm! Our waitress took forever to come and seemed as though she hated her job. They were able to to find me a croissant to which I asked for jam and they brought me a packet of smucker's jelly that you would get an Ihop... not the usually dickensons jam that I go there for!
Our food was ok, we were seating outside which was very loud. Not impressed and now am rethinking my Sunday brunch spot :(
Another stellar experience! A must visit restaurant.
Food was really good, came out fast , alittle loud. Really nice ambience . Parking was alittle stressful seemed like valet was main option.
Wonderful! Perfect girls brunch!
Brunch was lovely
This is such a unique spot with a lot of character. I had the baguette sandwich for brunch, which was delicious. Our servers were very attentive, never leaving a glass empty, and checking on us throughout the meal. Will be back, hopefully soon!
The service was incredible, the ambiance was very nice, and most of the food was really tasty. The only downside we had for the food was that the foie gras tasted like it came out of a dirty pan. Probably one of my least favorite foie dishes I’ve had. Besides that the drinks and the rest of the food was really good. Also the price on the food didn’t break the bank. I would definitely go back.
One word - Perfection! We were greeted by smiling faces and a pristine, chic and warm dining environment.
Our server was friendly and knowledgeable - mimosas were perfectly balanced and the brunch selections were amazing.
It was all so perfect we are going back this morning.
A true gem in the Harwood district.
Beautifully tucked in the Harwood area of downtown Dallas, this French bistro is a gem of a restaurant. They seated my wife and I quickly considering our OpenTable reservation, and in that moment we were able to soak in the romantic ambiance and the quaint style of the dim-lit, European bistro-inspired culinary experience.
Our waiter was subtle and precise, remembering every detail of our order. Not once, but twice did he walk up with what I needed as I was about to ask for it. The food was timed perfectly so we could enjoy our appetizer and course over an extended dinner date.
Ricotta and Local Honey Comb - unexpectedly diverse flavor that landed somewhere familiar, like a gentle key-lime pie but healthy.
Lyonnaise Salad - a perfectly poached egg crowned the greenery and bits of charcuterie, with the iconic dressing tastefully intermixed. The flavors were perfect according to my wife, though outside of my personal preference. Notably “fluffy” greenery made this salad pleasant to enjoy.
Chicken, White Wine Gravy, Pommes Frites - served by hand, 2/4 chicken on unique plates drizzled with white wine gravy was delicious. The chicken was tender, cooked fresh in a rotisserie, and the fries were delicious with standard ketchup or garlic aioli. Anything tasted good dipped in the gravy.
Crème brûlée - beautifully presented, fresh berries and custard. Delicious.
With a red wine and Stella Artois, this was a very enjoyable dining experience.
~$75 plus a well-deserved tip.
Always great. Excellent, attentive service, especially Luis. Great appetizers, inventive entree’s and special desserts.
Everything was extravaganza!
We have gone to Mercat twice in 2 months. We love the restaurant, so cute! However, both times I’ve had to send my main course dish back because the food is cool/barely warm. It tastes good but I want hot food. Even the dishes where the meat was hot, the vegetables and grains with it were cool. Such a shame because I want to go there and enjoy the atmosphere and food. I think that’s my last time going unfortunately.
It was a lovely and quaint lunch with friends. I very much enjoyed the ambiance of a French bistro, and the food was delicious! A friend had the quiche and I was very jealous of hers as well.
Exceptionaly great food and service. Great place for any occasion.
Very European feel, and the quality of each dish out performs the last. The team that takes care of you gets it. You are there guest “family” and they want you to come back.
Fantastique! Went for brunch and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere and great drinks.
This was the most wonderful restaurant! The food is fantastic and the prices are so reasonable.
My husband and I go out for dates often and this was truly a great find.
We started out with cocktails and I had the chartreuse le deux which was amazing and my husband had Zambuca. He had the sear fois gras that was perfect and I had an apricot chutney with Burrata cheese and baguette - loved it. For our Entree we had the lamb special and house made ravioli with ricotta and shrimp that was out of this world. Desert was bread pudding with a dark chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Very cute restaurants food was good ... but got seated by the bathroom and the bathroom door hit the partition against our table every 5 minutes . If it weren’t for that then I would have given 5 stars.
Never disappoints! Had lovely sat brunch to celebrate a birthday. Service is fantastic, very attentive and friendly. Food is delicious! A must try is the ricotta with honeycomb and the eggs benedict.
We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, and called ahead and they said they had space and could seat us. We arrived and were seated in a brightly lit (it was dim everywhere else) table next to the bathroom, and asked to move, and they told us all other tables (only 3 in the room by the bar were taken) had reservations. I told them that we also had a reservation, and they said if the tables don’t fill, we could move (they didn’t, but we didn’t bother bringing it up again). We all ordered the pasta special and it was ok- slightly cold and overpriced for unseasoned pasta with only cheese on it. Probably won’t be coming back.
Spectacular dinner on the patio.. overlooking the gorgeous gardens ! Great ambiance, great food and Tim, as always, executed great service and kept us laughing and happy all night.
Merci Marcat Team !!
Too small seats make us quite uncomfortable. Parking was easy though.
Incredible wait staff great food great atmosphere
Had dinner here with friends before Blake Shelton concert. Food was excellent so was the service. I would highly recommend. You can also leave your car with valet during the concert
an added benefit!
I love Mercat and visit often however after multiple experiences with one of their servers I’ve become disappointed with the service. I try to give the benefit of the doubt because everyone has a bad day. But the service is always bitter with this one particular server. Everyone else I have ever had is a joy. I would imagine other customers have complained about this server.
Before I start I would just like to say that the restaurant as a whole was pretty good. And while what my family and I ordered was not good, the total ambiance of the restaurant was great for younger people, 20’s, and great for getting a different and interesting cocktail.
I must say that I was underwhelmed with my meal, the Eggs Benedict. I have lost faith in almost every restaurant that serves it in Texas, I was hoping for a nice crispy English muffin with a lemony rich hollandaise, but all I got were watery eggs, with a soggy English muffin, very thin yet gummy hollandaise sauce (with no taste of lemon), and plain undressed lettuce just put on the side.
So it was unfortunate that the Eggs Benedict was thoroughly underwhelming, but I must also say that the total experience of the restaurant was nice. The coffee and our waiter were fantastic!
