Great spot. Only minor gripe was the oysters we ordered weren't very good. You'd think blue points would be solid, but they had no flavor. Staff probably should have just advised people not to order them. Also, just a little slow on getting our drink order in, but not too bad. Everything else was spectacular.
This was a wonderful place and we will be back again soon. Loved everything about the place especially the ambiance.
Mercat is one of my favorites in Dallas. The coffee is great, but mostly I love the china that everything is served on or in. The food is amazing, and I lovvvvve the Croque Madame.
Loved this place! Only challenge was we went before an event arriving at 530pm and we didn’t finish until 730pm which was the start of the event. We did the wonderful 3 course pre-theatre menu but they were really busy and the kitchen was unable to get the courses out timely enough to allow us to make our event on time. Otherwise, the service and ambiance was great.
Excellent brunch-coffee was amazing and service was exceptional.
What a wonderful place Mercat has become! Their new chef Yoann Lardeaux brought fine French cuisine with Mediterranean influences to Mercat. The service is impeccable — behind the scene, but there for you when appropriate. I hear they will start wine dinners beginning in February- that will be a culinary journey not to be missed. We will be back! P.S make sure not to miss the great desserts.
I go to this restaurant frequently and like it very much. This particular visit was not a good one. I got a table right away, but the staff went around the floor never noticing me since they never looked my way. I finally gave up on the wait and succeeded in getting a waiter by holding my menu over my head and waving it back and forth. They should do better and usually do much better. The food was fine.
We took my mom to Mercat for her birthday and it was a delightful experience for us all. The waitress was attentive and understood the menu very well. The food was excellent and creative from the appetizers to the main course. If you are in Dallas and like French food, Mercat is worth a visit.
Very dissatisfied with the food.
Have been here 6 times. Not happy with omelette.
Great start. Nice setting, interesting menu. Service started off great but by the end of the meal we couldn’t find our waiter. With only four occupied tables (one table had completed the meal and was just talking) and two waiters there’s no reason why we had to ask a couple times for a dessert menu and a couple requests for our bill.
Great fond. Food and service were good. Will recommend.
Still a favorite and consistent
The food was really good and tasty. The ambience was really nice. We went on a Sunday with previous reservation and it was busy. The service was good too. They have a cool selection for brunch. Recommended
Can't believe we haven't heard more about this tucked away gem! Very comfy, french bistro, wonderful cafe. NOTE: address is on Harry Hines but restaurant & valet is around the corner on Harwood.
We went for brunch, great menu, carafes of Mimosas! We had plans to go somewhere else for a pre-Christmas dinner but agreed to return here. Only criticism is we had finished our entree & wanted to order a dessert. After waiting...and waiting...couldn't get anyone's attention..waiting...finally our server looked our way & said she would be right over. 15-20 minutes later she appeared. She said something but we couldn't hear her.
This is one of my fave restaurants, and always so easy to get a last-minute table. Food was excellent, although the split salad looked a little lonely; the proportion was meager for $12. But that's a nit in comparison to the rest of the meal and wine.
We got the Strawberry and Mascarpone Crepe (AWESOME), the Crabmeat Benedict, and a couple mimosas - large pour :)
Service was excellent and the ambience is definitely good for a special date or get together with friends.
The salmon and crab cake dishes were outstanding! We love the atmosphere.
Always great, I always feel at home here, thanks to the wonderful staff!
Everything was wonderful but especially the service. Our waiter, Jorge, was absolutely perfect. I'll ask for him every time I return!!
Nice atmosphere. Noisy at lunch hour. Great service. Mussels were too small, but sauce was great.
Great little place for lunch or dinner. Awesome food...always good.
Always love coming here and sitting on the patio for dinner or a light dinner. Great atmosphere and service.
We regularly go to Mercat and generally have a good experience. This visit was for dinner before a concert at AAC. We make this known to our waiter from the beginning. It took forever to get his attention to place our order and we asked more than once about a certain item. He forgot to ask the kitchen until the third time we inquired. We asked for bread after 30 minutes of waiting, and had to tell several waiters and the manager who brought other tables' order to our table that we hadn't ordered whatever they brought and they had the wrong table. I finally went to the manager and told her we had to leave within 15 minutes to be at the concert on time. Our food started coming, one slow entree at a time. Three of the entrees were salads which should not have caused a delay. We ate our meal in 5 minutes and still missed the opening songs of the concert. I told the manager and the host at the door as we were leaving. They did apologize and said someone would be contacting me the next day. Haven't heard from them.
Went to Mercat with a small group of friends to celebrate my birthday. Not only was our brunch delicious, the drinks were good, and the service was consistent to. It was a bit loud in the restaurant, but with how small each section is the noise is expected, especially during brunch time.
Really great food! I’ve been here for a date and also for brunch and I absolutely love it. If you do brunch I would recommend sitting outside. The filet is one my favorite things to get for dinner. I especially like the ambience.
My husband & I had dinner at Mercat to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first visit, & we are happy to say we have found a new “favorite” place. We felt like we were transported to Paris. We had the shishito peppers, beet salad, endive salad, lamb entree, & cod entree. All of it was delicious. We look forward to visiting again for brunch. Thank you for such a lovely evening.
This place seems short staffed, because we had a hard time getting our waitresses attention, and our food came out at different times and we ended up canceling an order of fries because who wants to eat that after everything has come out? The food is pretty good, this place I think is overrated but it’s definitely a staple of me and my family
The evening ambiance is dark/romantic with small lights and candles and the food and service were superb.
Lovely as always. Wonderful service with delicious food and drinks. One of my top fave restaurants in Dallas.
You really must install an additional restroom.
Otherwise, the experience was very enjoyable.
Charming bistro! Yummy food! We had a pleasant, late night, cozy meal at Mercat. The sparkling chef, Yoann Lardeux, was kind enough to visit with us at our table and made us feel at home. The atmosphere was magical with hundreds of tiny white lights in the trees outside. We will definitely return!
We loved everything about Mercat Bistro! The atmosphere is excellent, dimly lit, cozy seating, great date night spot. The food is wonderful, especially the escargots!! Friendly service as well, we’ll be back soon!
The food was very good anf overall had the look of Paris. However, the service was better... lovely. I will return.
Their quiche is fabulous but I’ll never eat dinner there again. The service was lackluster: my fish had multiple bones per bite and the asparagus was thin and not well prepared.
Have only been to Mercat for brunch which is excellent every time so decided to try it for dinner. Unfortunately not a good choice. The food was overpriced and did not live up to the price. The taste wasn’t anything to write home about either. And the restaurant was pretty empty - I guess our experience explains why it’s not so popular for dinner.
This place never fails for me. The staff the food and above all the chef (specifically Chef Gallardo) was amazing. The food never disappoints and neither does the drinks. What a great place to go for anything especially when the moms are in town. This place is a must for both visitors and locals alike if one is looking for a great French Bistro.
Fantastic food. Wonderful waiting staff. The valet didn’t believe I was at the right place because I’m like 20 and look younger lol but it was a great place for our anniversary date
First of all, I would like to thank the manager/maître d' who helped us with the parking (we were lost). While the service was good, the food was so-so. I ordered the lobster roll. It was the wrong kind of roll. You would never use the Mercat roll in Maine. The amount of lobster was meager. My colleague ordered the salmon which he said was alright. I would like to return to try their other offerings.
Our food took an hour to arrive at our table and the table next us received their meal in 15 minutes. I believe our waitress forgot to put our order in as the restaurant was not busy enough to take an hour for three sandwiches. I had mentioned we had a birthday person in our party and they said they would bring a special dessert but never did. Lobster roll and fries was $24. I was initially excited to try this place but will not go back, the service was chaotic.
The staff is amazing...efficient but all VERY friendly. This is a great place to dine for special occasions...but we also feel we are dining with family! The food is always consistently excellent.
