Really great food! I’ve been here for a date and also for brunch and I absolutely love it. If you do brunch I would recommend sitting outside. The filet is one my favorite things to get for dinner. I especially like the ambience.
The evening ambiance is dark/romantic with small lights and candles and the food and service were superb.
Lovely as always. Wonderful service with delicious food and drinks. One of my top fave restaurants in Dallas.
You really must install an additional restroom.
Otherwise, the experience was very enjoyable.
Charming bistro! Yummy food! We had a pleasant, late night, cozy meal at Mercat. The sparkling chef, Yoann Lardeux, was kind enough to visit with us at our table and made us feel at home. The atmosphere was magical with hundreds of tiny white lights in the trees outside. We will definitely return!
We loved everything about Mercat Bistro! The atmosphere is excellent, dimly lit, cozy seating, great date night spot. The food is wonderful, especially the escargots!! Friendly service as well, we’ll be back soon!
The food was very good anf overall had the look of Paris. However, the service was better... lovely. I will return.
Their quiche is fabulous but I’ll never eat dinner there again. The service was lackluster: my fish had multiple bones per bite and the asparagus was thin and not well prepared.
This place never fails for me. The staff the food and above all the chef (specifically Chef Gallardo) was amazing. The food never disappoints and neither does the drinks. What a great place to go for anything especially when the moms are in town. This place is a must for both visitors and locals alike if one is looking for a great French Bistro.
Fantastic food. Wonderful waiting staff. The valet didn’t believe I was at the right place because I’m like 20 and look younger lol but it was a great place for our anniversary date
First of all, I would like to thank the manager/maître d' who helped us with the parking (we were lost). While the service was good, the food was so-so. I ordered the lobster roll. It was the wrong kind of roll. You would never use the Mercat roll in Maine. The amount of lobster was meager. My colleague ordered the salmon which he said was alright. I would like to return to try their other offerings.
Our food took an hour to arrive at our table and the table next us received their meal in 15 minutes. I believe our waitress forgot to put our order in as the restaurant was not busy enough to take an hour for three sandwiches. I had mentioned we had a birthday person in our party and they said they would bring a special dessert but never did. Lobster roll and fries was $24. I was initially excited to try this place but will not go back, the service was chaotic.
The staff is amazing...efficient but all VERY friendly. This is a great place to dine for special occasions...but we also feel we are dining with family! The food is always consistently excellent.
My friends and I had a lovely time!
I was excited to share my previous experience with my friends who had never been there before. We were seated outside quickly- I had a reservation for 8 at 12:45. The waiter was very good but the restaurant kept running out food! We ordered crepes at a French restaurant! It happened about every 10 minutes! A third of the table did not get what they wanted originally! However - the food was very good at what we ate- but all of friends were all complaining- then we saw tables next to us being served crepes just 10 minutes later!! Very upsetting!
Overall great meal! Service was a bit slow to start but then picked up and we were well taken care of the rest of dinner. Obsessed with the lyonnaise salad and organic roasted chicken for two!
The service was outstanding. The food was decent. Super romantic if dining in the evening. Great cocktails. I’d definitely go again.
The crepe was delicious!
Started with a pastry basket and peach sangria made with bubbly poured over a frozen ball of fruit with a mint leaf. Felt like we were in a quaint French Bistro. Loved the authentic coffees, desserts and Eggs Benedict. The Avocado toast was a nice fresh addition to the menu.
Cannot wait to return!
Everything was amazing! Food, service, and ambiance was fabulous!
Our go to for Sunday brunch.... always a wonderful experience.
My mom was visiting from out of town on her birthday weekend and wanted to celebrate with French cuisine. After searching Google and Yelp and asking my coworkers where to go, Mercat Bistro sounded like the best option. It was even better than expected!! The restaurant is a little hidden gem off of Harry Hines, and looks like a cafe you would find in Paris. The inside was just dark enough to be romantic, but light enough to read the menu. And don't get me started on the food! I ordered the Marseille Style Cod, my mom had the Coq Au Vin and my sister ate the Steak Frites. We tasted everyone's plates, and all three were delicious! I highly recommend Mercat Bistro for a date night, a nice birthday dinner, or to grab a cocktail and an appetizer before going to a show. I will be eating here again!
Mercat Bistro was a great spot for brunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy, yet vibrant and the service was awesome! Also, their signature brunch cocktail (peche mignon) was so tasty!
Exceptional quality and service. Nice cocktail menu & wine list. Don’t miss the opportunity to be there!
Great but a bit pricy for what we had!
We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful hostess. She gave us the options to sit at different parts of the restaurant and we picked gazebo. Our server was right on cue with drinks, ordering foods, recommendations and prompt service without being annoying. I had a lardon salad and my mom had quiche with salad. Everything was delicious!!!! I highly recommend it!!!
Lots going for this place, but lots to look past, unfortunately, to call it very good or excellent. Service was frequently spotty. As for food, average to very good, depending. Simple eggs lacked taste, for example, but other dishes were very good. Presentation is appealing. Atmosphere also appealing, but acoustics on the noisy side. Overall, almost very good.
Went for brunch - not much taste - all 4 people in my party felt the same.
I've been for brunch multiple times and dinner once, and all those times were great experiences. This last time, service was a little slow, and our waitress didn't always understand our questions. I'm not sure if she was new or if there was just a language barrier. And then, I found two large, sharp pieces of plastic in my crab dish. The waitress apologized and offered my another plate of crab but after eating plastic twice, one does lose trust. The manager did come out to apologize and said they had thrown out all that crab. They did take that item off the ticket and gave us free desert. Even without that incident, I still don't know that I could have said that this experience lived up to the others. Overall, it was just okay, which was disappointing since we had talked this restaurant up to the friends we had taken for the first time.
I have to eat something other than chicken but it is so good. Lynn Smith
Three times in one week too much
Always a great brunch location- great food, service and ambience. Parking is always a challenge to figure out so allow extra time to do so. Define recommendation.
Mercat is one our favorite date spots! It has delicious food and an intimate atmosphere.
I went to Mercat with a friend during Dallas Restaurant Week 2018. It's a time for restaurants to show off so that people return later. However the appetizer was Mussel /Frites mussels, white wine, shallots, garlic, fresh herbs, croutons. The mussels were a little gritty and many of the shells were empty. Then they brought out the frites, two completely different dishes that in no way worked together. I said "french fries?", and the waiter said yeah they are on the menu, and they were. I just didn't expect them to be served in a basket like Chili's. The fries at Chili's aren't bad they just aren't fine french dinning fries. The fries seem like something from a short order cook, not a chef. I expected amazing seasoning, maybe truffle oil, perhaps rosemary, no, they were just fries served with ketchup no less. Ketch, something no self respecting chef would be caught without. The entree was Marseille Style Cod and it was very good. I was surprised that there were potatoes offered in the appetizer and entree as well. I guess they had a lot of potatoes to get rid of. I was so full by the end of the entree, that I took the desert home. The waiter was very agreeable and allowed me to make a substitution without an up charge. The hostess and wait staff was extremely nice, friendly and professional. If the food were better the wait staff alone would be worth tackling downtown traffic. Excellence in wait staff is part of what makes the experience of dinning out enjoyable.
First time dining here and disappointed. Just a bad experience all around. Hard to find it from the valet. There’s no signs. Asked the hostess at St Ann and she replied it happens all the time. Then hang a sign! the table, the server; it was just bad. The food was decent.
The staff is fabulous. All are so nice. Lynn Smith
Everything I’ve ever wanted out of a French bistro restaurant. Drinks were excellent and strong! Ambiance is romantic and laid back with French flair via candle light, mirrors, vintage mix matched plates.
Really nice meal. Don’t know how I haven’t been to this Dallas gem before. Can’t wait to go back!
Service was excellent, she attended to our every need and never once needed to be reminded that we were celebrating our son's birthday. The croissant's were impeccable, the quiche amazing! Parking is a little tricky but we worked it out.
I have been here for brunch and dinner and both times the food was delicious, service friendly and attentive. Ambiance just like a cafe in Paris. Would definitely recommend a visit.
