I had the ham and cheese omelette which was nothing special and had a rolled up piece of ham in the middle of the omelette with not a lot of cheese. My friend had the eggs Benedict and the muffin/bread was so hard that she could barely cut it with a knife. The hollandaise sauce was skimpy and nothing special. We will not be back for brunch. Expensive for a very average to mediocre meal.
I love the feel of this place- although it was loud, it was not a problem. Food was excellent too. C’est si bon!
Mercat never disappoints. It's a charming, classy bistro with great food always. Great ambiance and service. Perfect for pre theater. We had escargot, the sole, and the short ribs. So good.
Absolutely love this place!! Their wine and food are delicious and the service was amazing!! The restaurant itself is beautiful with great atmosphere.
Food was good but service felt uninviting. I took my girlfriend for our 2 year anniversary and it was our first time going. Waiter seemed in a hurry and wasn’t very talkative. After taking our orders, he didn’t return until he saw we were done with our food to bring the check. Doubt we’ll be back.
My friend and I enjoyed the drinks and the pastry baskets, but weren’t crazy about our entrees. The pastry basket would have been better if served warm. I had a lobster roll and he had the eggs Benedict. It was lackluster, nothing special, more mayo based. My friends eggs were poached hard and he didn’t have much hollandaise sauce. I would only return for the drinks!
I've been to France many times and Mercat is like visiting a tiny bit of Paris. Loved it! Can't wait to go back!
We were seated in the solarium, which was noisy but, warm and charming. A party of six humans with 4 dogs were seated shortly after our arrival. The restaurant allowed 4 medium dogs in a very small, crowded indoor space. Our meal was disturbed multiple times by dogs that broke loose, all be it a really cute French bulldog once. The service was really good. Our server acknowledged the dogs were there and truly made the best of something out of our control. We had a fun brunch date, and made the best of it- even the numerous times the dogs barked, got into a little tiff, then a big big tiff and broke free. I like the idea of going to Mutts, when I know I am going to a dog park. This was my first experience at this restaurant and can’t say how it is usually. But, great place if you want to have a doggie birthday! The restaurant brought out a special plate for the dog with a candle.
Great find. Food is simple yet prepared to satisfy the most demanding foodie. Atmosphere was perfect for a birthday celebration with my wife. Our service completed the overall experience!
Only the second time dining in the main restaurant. I prefer the conservatory as it is quieter. Quiche was extraordinary and champagne at brunch was delightful. Love the pastry basket here; that alone will bring me back. Wish they offered this during the week and wish they offered their French onion soup during the weekend.
Always delicious. My go to place for brunch when I am in Dallas.
Mercat Bistro is one of my favorite spots in Dallas! The Parisian ambiance is absolutely delightful. Small details, like Le Creuset dishware, make for an authentic dining experience full of charm. The food is divine and I will most definitely be vising again soon.
Really enjoyed this restaurant although it is difficult to find for someone not used to this area of town - construction and some confusion but once found, it was charming and very reasonable for sharing a dish with friends - great for lunch I am sure when the weather gets better. One criticism - it is supposed to be a french-type bistro - bread was NOT good - sliced bread that had been toasted and it was hard and like a cracker - definitely need work. Will go back but hope they just ran out of fresh bread - will give them another chance.
I’ve been for brunch and had a great experience. However the other evening - not so much. Was at a round table for two that was incredibly small - and it wasn’t crowded in the restaurant. The food was decent but our waiter was not. Admittedly only has been there for three month but...couldn’t tell us anything about the menu. Asked about two wines and he had no clue - went to get the “wine guy” but instead came back with “this one is like merlot and Pinot” - this one “is like a Merlot and Malbec”. Really??? Asked what came with the sole fish - he said vegetables. Which I could see from the menu - what kind of veggies?! Had to go ask. I feel in this type of restaurant and price point - we should have had a more seasoned waiter. That kind of soured the evening for me and it was my friends first time. Not sure she’ll give it a second sadly.
Tortilla Soup recommended by wait staff...superb 👍👍
We celebrated our anniversary last night, Great place with Euro feel, food was great, staff was friendly, We noticed certain changes on portions and presentation, the bread pudding, the fries, bread service.... We enjoyed it! Would’ve appreciated happy anniversary with our dessert! Maybe the server should ask if special occasion is celebrated!
Food & Service were great... The only comment was I had reservations and had to wait an additional 30 minutes, before I was seated. I'll come back again though and give them a second chance.
A lovely experience! Drinks and food were excellent. I definitely come back soon
Love this restaurant ! Visiting my son at SMU and we love going here for breakfast. Everything is delicious and service is amazing !
Great service, staff is Fantastic.
We went to Mercat about a year ago and had a lovely experience with great cocktails, wine and food; however, this time almost every dish had bacon or pork. We don't eat pork. The marquez sausage (whichis always made from lamb) was made with beef and lamb. It made it difficult to find anything to eat. If you love bacon then the food would be great.
I thought that more items from the regular menu should be offered during brunch.
One salad was uninspired, but other than that everything was delectable, as usual. Thank you, we will be back!
Always an outstanding experience and food!
First time going there . We will definitely be going back!
We stopped in for brunch before flying out. The food and service were wonderful. The hostess kindly offered to stow our carryons in the office; our waiter kept our coffee and water full. I had the croque madame (HUGE but delicious), and my mom had the Quiche Lorraine (also large and delicious). The coffee was strong, and the decor was beautiful. I definitely recommend it.
Valentine’s Day meal fixed prixe. Usual great service and the food was excellent. Very satisfied.
Lovely place for a Valentines dinner with my wife!
Food was sub par. Tasteless beeet salad with over cooked wets and spinach that has been frozen. Salmon was unseasoned. Lamb was raw and sent it back. Only 3 small lamb chops and my husband was starving after the meal. Disappointed.
It was so beautiful the minute we walked in. You felt like you were somewhere special, somewhere secret, somewhere away from it all. The food was generous proportions of deliciousness, the drinks were bubbly and the service was kind. I can’t wait to go back, sit in another cozy corner and look a different direction and order another wonderful taste!
It was a beautifully intimate space with perfect service and delicious food and wine.
Excellent food and service
Beautiful atmosphere and excellent food!
Mercat is a small, charming and delicious French restaurant - great for special occasions as well as quiet business lunch.
Everything about our lunch was excellent from the food to the service! We come here often and will definitely be back again!
Really good food and great atmosphere. Great service. Small intimate space.
It had been probably a year and a half since I had eaten at Mercat and I am so glad we returned. Every single thing we ordered was delicious and perfect! Going to put it in the regular rotation!
Not the same restaurant anymore! Seems the creative work has left and they are simply pushing out mediocre food at high prices. So sad as this used to be a favorite place!
Service was very good. We were celebrating a birthday and their surprise birthday dessert was spectacular!
I was a bit disappointed in the beet salad as it had just a few cubes beets in it. I would not order it again. The avocado toast is more like a salad with a small piece of toast under it but it tasted great.
This is a romantic little restaurant with a great atmosphere and great service. Our waiter was Jorge and he was fantastic. The tables for two are a little small making it difficult to have room for plates, glasses, etc. T
