   Had an early dinner before a show . Food was great as was the service. Bill was reasonable to what was expected. Atmosphere was great. I would not like to be there when the dining room is full. I imagine it would be quite loud.

   We had some members of our party with dietary restrictions and our waiter seemed oblivious as to how to accommodate. They ran out of multiple things we ordered after we ordered them.

    I've had a fantastic meal at Mercantile and this was not even close to past experiences. It could be on me - I chose the wrong item, a breakfast sandwich for brunch. What's not to like about a French omelette, cheddar, bacon and chili crisp? The dish came with absolutely no garnish and was lackluster. The grapefruit mimosa was not great either. The table next to us had a coughing and sneezing teen who didn't cover her mouth, and that didn't help the ambiance though I know that's not the Mercantile's fault. Not likely to return given all the other choices in town.

    The meal was delicious (pan fried cod, confit chicken, gnocchi and a variety of veggie dishes). It wasn’t exceptional as I had expected though which is probably my fault as I have wanted to try Mercantile for years and probably built it up too much. The service and staff were excellent: accommodating, helpful, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Would definitely recommend.

    We've dined here many times over the years and have been blown away by the service, food, etc. Last night was the first hiccup we encountered at this establishment. The service was incredibly uneven. We waited seemingly forever for our cocktails and the sides came out at different times after the main courses were served. We understand all about labor shortages and the economy - so we will give them a big pass on last night. But for a $500+ ticket for four I thought we should have been more impressed and satisfied. IMO. I agree with the mandatory 20% service charge for the staff - but does that make them more complacent???

    I thought there was a slight discrepancy between what this restaurant “thinks” it is and what it actually delivers. There is somewhat of a pretentious approach to the way it operates. For example, the menu is relatively limited, the ingredients and food taste can’t be criticized as low quality, but there is nothing extraordinary about it to justify the somewhat inflated prices. It was also a bit “funny” to be charged for some dinner rolls labeled as “bread and butter service,” which actually shows up as some buttered up and warmed up king Hawaiian rolls and a side of spicy butter. For a restaurant with an Italian “flavor” they really need to work on their bread options. With that being said, the bread served with the beef tartar was considerably better. The wine list was decent, but then again, not sure a restaurant in this category comports bottles at the 400-500 range. We were a bit annoyed with the initial service so we didn’t study the wine menu enough to see if the prices were justified or just a case of “we will put it out there and see what happens.” lol The main courses were OK, but watch out…if you order pasta and want some cheese, they’ll bring you a little container (a little bigger than a shot glass) for a table of 6 (in our case) and when we asked for more, it came when most of us were close to our last bite. The expresso tasted a bit too acidic and they never brought or even offered any sort of milk, sugar or sweetener. We didn’t have much of a chance to ask for it either as the wait staff’s attention turned entirely to closing duties about 9:30 pm. So instead of coming around to check on us they all disappeared until they showed up with the bill with an announcement that 20% operational charge was included and no tips were expected. All in all the experience was perhaps best described as underwhelming, and despite the quality of the food being decent, it’s not a place I’ll think with enthusiasm in the future.

    I love this place. The food and drinks re good. The staff is great. The interior is very cute. I try to eat here every time I come to Union Station from the airport.

    Everything was very good. When we got the bill we were a little surprise by the market value of the ribeye steak that we ordered for dinner. Wow! Even at Costco you don’t pay anywhere near that price for 4 grass-fed ribeyes. Crazy!! They said it was the market value for a 4-block area and the preparation and some other little tidbit to build value.

    Enjoyed the service and food. Had the meatball appetizer, chicken dish, bone in ribeye and sides of sunchike and carrots. The flavors were wonderful and our steak came out a perfect medium rare. A bit heavy on the salt for the potatoes for my likening but still they were crispy and good. Main reason for lower stars was the price. The steak MP was $75 and cocktails and wine on the pricey side $15 and $20 each. The atmosphere has a hip sophisticated vibe but noise level is pretty high. Overal would recommend for a special night out

    We were so excited bc it was on the top 25 list for Denver. Service was great, the food was bland and dry which made it way over priced. The place is also very noisy. Sorry but we won’t be going back.
