Menotomy Grill & Tavern
Settled in 1635. The village was incorporated as the town of Arlington in 1867 following the civil
war as a tribute to Arlington National Cemetery.
Our vision for Menotomy Grill & Tavern is to bring the tavern concept back to the town of Arlington by creating a rustic grill capitalizing on the coziness of a brick house featuring fireplace, open kitchen,
exposed beams, large planked hard wood floors, and historical artifacts and photos. Fostering a
loyal following will be the key to our success, so we welcome you to join us on Facebook for news, special offers and exciting events.
Meh.. we've been passing this place for 4 years. Finally made an 8pm reservation for valentines day. We arrived about 5 till 8 to a crowded vestibule and told there would a wait while more people finish their meals. There was a list of walk ins who were sat and 3 or 4 other couples also with 8p reservations. After a 15 minute wait we were seated. Our server was cool. Our drinks were good (Rachel's rum punch and new old fashioned). The fried oysters appetizer was awesome but overdressed. I had steak tips and fries. It arrived room temperature at best. My date had bbq trio. The sauce on the pulled pork for sooo vinegary and neither of us liked it. The chicken leg and rib was good. We thought both portions were fine. There's a band on Thursdays. Parking lot. A couple TVs for game day. 97$ + tip for 2 cocktails, 1 app, 2 entrees.
Four of us enjoyed a great dinner last Saturday evening. We sat in a booth in the bar area as requested. The menu is lengthy plus there were specials. We enjoyed tacos, salmon, mussels and pizza plus excellent craft beer and wine. Our waitress was very attentive. My husband and I have been here several times and will continue to return. Also there is a parking lot. If we stayed longer we could have enjoyed live music.
Service was great, and food was awesome! We’ve been here several times and I feel like every time we are here the food gets better and better!
The service was fantastic. The chicken pot pie was amazing. I heard it was going to be taken off the menu which I would not recommend since it was such and great tasting dish. Thanks,
Started with excellent service with Christina. The appetizer of house made chips warm and delicious. The entrees prepared perfectly. My wife had the chicken with a crisp skin and moist meat. I had the spaghetti carbonara al dente. Overall an enjoyable meal in a friendly atmosphere.
I brought a group of 8 for Sunday brunch. The hostess was very accommodating and seated us quickly. The service was very very good. Most of us did not enjoyour brunch items. Two of us requested corn beef on our Benedict but the corn beef was very scarce and not very good flavor. Four of us requested fuzzy navel cocktails. However the bartender had no peach schnapps. Great coffee. Water was not hot enough for brewing tea and we had to request a new hot water. All in all, not one of our best brunches.
Had salmon on a roll. Couldn't taste the salmon since the seasonings overtook the taste.
The portion sizes are very generous, and the food is good. I've been here before and have always had a good meal without much trouble getting in for lunch or brunch.
The service could have been better this time, but I hope it was an anomaly. The waitress saw us coming with two toddlers, and I think she immediately decided we were going to be annoying and that we should be aware of her feelings. That having been said, we have had good brunches there with kids before, so I'm assuming the waitress was having a bad day.
Good service on a snowy night. Beer list is strong and the roast beef au jus was tasty. Spent 4 hours here with 8 people - no problem with having good conversation. App menu and salads choice were a bit limited.
Excellent evening the food was delish, the waiter polite and efficient, the noise level was great... some places these days are so loud you can barley hear the people at your own table, BUT this place was great!! Nice night all around!
I reserved a regular table that night for dinner but was given a high top. For app we ordered the "musket balls," which was crispy chicken with buffalo sauce. The waitress brought us maybe 7 pieces each the size of a nickel and shavings of celery for $10. I also ordered the French onion soup. For $11, the onion soup was a small crock. It was tasty but we felt it was small for the price. We had the pan seared Atlantic salmon and Pasta Carbonara. Both were very good.
It was a busy Saturday evening. The staff was under some pressure. However, all-in-all, evrything was great, and we would go back.
Everything was great about this place ! Loved the staff and food. Our waiter was excellent !
Always tasty food and good drinks!
Menotomy is our favorite date spot. The decor is gorgeous and it feels so cozy when they have the fire going. The staff are attentive and kind, and the food is delicious. We especially love the Brussels sprouts with bacon and the pistachio encrusted salmon - one of us always orders it!
New Year’s Eve
First time visiting this restaurant. It was New Year's Eve. They had their full menu and some great specials. Drinks were excellent and the food was very good. The waitstaff was wonderful as were the front of the house staff. I will definitely be back.
The nightly specials are not to be missed. Scrumptious and creative twists on culinary delights. If you want your burger or fish and chips, it will be on the menu. Microbrews are perfect accompaniments. We are Friday night regulars who want to relax but at the same time watch the bustle around us. Great vibes and enthusiastic wait staff.
Delicious food and great ambiance. Convenient location from Alewife Brook Parkway. Lots of parking.
Good comfort food menu, we will come again.
Sophia was our waitress and we had a very good meal.
I really love this place and the atmosphere -- I just want the food to match the promise of the menu offering. For example, fried pickles had a crust that was a 3:1 ratio. Fish and chips were over fried. Salad with shrimp was dry and took 10 minutes to get extra dressing. French onion soup was overly reduced and had the wrong broth to onion ratio.
This place has a great location and parking. Thursday's they have live music, which is great but loud. The bar is fine. I just wish they would up theor food game
Awesome food and service. Christian was our server and he was phenomenal
We really liked the menu, but felt the restaurant had overbooked. Our reservation for 7 was right near a baby shower for 65 people and our waitress tried to manage everything but had too much to do. The party was very loud and it made it tough to chat at our table.
We a reservation and he went to seat us in a terrible place. We had to wait for a table to cleared before we could be seated and then we had to ask for a menu from 2 different people before we got one. the service was awful. We had to ask for everything we needed.
We were here this summer one night and experienced the same level of service. food is good but they need to beef up the front part of the house.
Food was okay. Best meal at our table was the fish and chips. The grouper and salmon were both over cooked. I think it’s probably better if you stick to the more casual food on the menu like the burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips. This was the second time we’ve been there and both times the actual entree’s were disappointing. Will probably try it again but go with a burger, which did look delicious.
Vibe and ambience are great! Beer menu was great - especially if you are an IPA lover. Food was so-so.
Got the buffalo bites - kind of lacking taste...And server was not fully informed of taco of the day. Asked twice if it had onions and she said no each time. Then she hand delivered me a steak taco dripping with onions, so much so, that you could barely see the steak. I would go back, but more for the vibe, drinks, great locale, and less so for the food.
Comfortable venue, excellent service, interesting menu of classic choices done in a creative way, plus new ideas. Went twice - first time food was top notch, second time food was very good.
Tonight Menotomy a
Wish we'd found this place ages ago. Came for brunch with a group of seven, including two toddlers, while my father-in-law was in town. It hit the sweet spot of being family-friendly without also being deafeningly loud or noticeably sticky/messy -- with high ceilings as well as room enough between the tables for kids to easily move around, and acoustics that somehow enabled conversation even as kids could be a little noisy without turning heads at other tables, a neat trick -- and while serving good food in ample portions at a fair price, brought to the table while everything that was supposed be warm or hot or crisp was indeed still warm or hot or crisp. Everyone left happy.
Held high school reunion there, 12+ of us. We contributed to the noise. Waiter kept all of our orders straight and on separate checks. Food was great. Ecxelkent, central location.
The food and service is good. Nothing is amazing but it certainly meets expectations. Great place for flatbreads and burgers on a Friday night. The seating drives me crazy! They’ve squeezed too many tables in a small area back by the kitchen. We were constantly bumping chairs with people around us, the wait staff couldn’t get by. I was practically sitting in an aisle and almost walked out. I was bumped more times than I can count. They also are in tremedous need of coat racks or hooks somewhere. There a coats hanging from chairs and dropped on the ground. This is an accident waiting to happen.
Excellent as always. Nice to have new menu specials. Service is attentive, friendly and helpful.
Had a good sunday brunch after visiting Tufts. More than bar food. All entrees had an interesting twist and were very good. Good casual place, with nice setting and good food.
The staff was very friendly and efficient. We enjoyed great cocktails and delicious meals.
Nice place for casual dining. Interesting menu items and drink selection. Rustic atmosphere, but noisy.
We’ve never been disappointed! It’s always very good!
Good food. Service was very friendly. Nice place for dinner
Great food and great ambiance. Can’t wait to go back with my husband
Excellent service, good food, beautiful layout, but incredibly dim lighting- found it hard to see not only the menu, but the person sitting opposite was also not clearly illuminated, which was very odd, & distracted from the pleasure of dining.
