Mendenhall Inn Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed the fabulous Sunday brunch to start off my mom’s 60th Birthday celebration. The food was delicious and our entire party enjoyed their selections. The service was spectacular, our waitress was attentive and patient. We are already planning our next visit!
My wife ordered shrimp cocktail, French onion soup without cheese and the surf and turf. Shrimp was good, soup was terrible and they forgot the entrée . I ordered Shrimp Le Jon , and a vegetarian entre' and a salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The shrimp Le Jon was not very hot or tasty the salad had the wrong dressing and the dinner was blah. The server had too many tables to work and all the manager wanted was to hurry us out so they could seat someone else. I pay with a cc but leave cash for a tip and was waiting to give it to our server but the manager said "I'll give it to her" again, just to hurry us out. He also spoke down to the servers, very unprofessional. We have been here several times before and our sons' wedding was here as well. Extremely disappointing, will never go back.
We have been there a couple times we always enjoy going food is always good service is great love the specials Friday nights enjoy the music. We have also stayed at the hotel found it very accommodating and nice we enjoyed our stay there such a nice place in the middle of nowhere it seems like it's great
First, I should say this restaurant has sentimental reasons for us to go as we had our wedding reception here many, years ago and had our son's rehearsal dinner here more recently. We just love the place.
We went this time to celebrate my dh's birthday, using the coupon that comes in the mail. We always enjoy this and it is becoming a yearly tradition. We both chose the duck with plum sauce as our main entree - excellent! We shared a dessert - a chocolate mousse that was very light and perfect after a filling meal. The waiter was excellent, attentive without being annoying so and was helpful in offering thoughts on the different offerings. An A+ evening.
A place that did many of the small things well. It was a quiet Wednesday night and our waiter, Mike did a great job of making us feel like we were in charge of the experience. He made great recommendations for drinks and helped us decide between several menu items. The food was very good and well proportioned. We left full. We even received a comp dessert for our 20th anniversary, which was a nice touch. We will be back.
I have held a soft spot for Mendenhall from the time my daughter’s wedding reception
was held there, some 25 yrs. ago. The restaurant exudes a warm, quiet, cozy atmosphere
that makes for a perfect oasis for fine dining and conversation. My only disappointment
was that you didn’t offer your fabulous Beef Wellington, but the saving grace was that
it was available if requested a day or two prior to your reservation date. Good-to-Know
for the future. You’re still tops on my list for a memorable evening out.
The brunch buffet was not as plentiful in good choices as we remembered. We also arrived on the later side of the brunch window and found that many items had not been replenished. The entree choices were fewer than we recalled and were quite petite in portion size. The setting was nice and has been renovated since our last visit. Overall, there are better choices within the local area.
On Saturday, November 4, I took my parents here as a thank you for helping us pack for our move. They had never eaten here besides the tasting for our wedding and our actual wedding. My dad enjoyed the Parmesan crusted striped sea bass, although he said it was a little bland. My husband and mom both feasted on the prime rib and took 1/4-1/2 of theirs home for another evening. I tried the seafood ragout over pasta and I'm so glad that I did. I had wanted to try it numerous times but never went with it. The flavors were delicious and I can't wait to enjoy it another night. Then, we were treated to a lava cake. The worst part about it was it was gone in less than 5 minutes. We were fighting over the last bite. I guess that really isn't a bad thing. ;)
First time ever that we could not eat our main entree's. My prime rib was a hunk of fat and I almost chocked trying to chew it. My wife's chicken dish was so bland that she had no appetite to finish once started. Flat bread was excellent and our waitress was clearly embarrassed by the quality of the entree's. The manager offered to pay for our drinks and desserts but in hind sight I wished he had taken the entree's off the bill and we would have paid for drinks. $90.00 bill for a terrible dinner. We did tip the waitress appropriately as she tried her best to please. This dinner was to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and the evening was ruined. On the way out we heard the manager also apologize to a couple leaving just ahead of us so something was going wrong in the kitchen that night.
Went for my birthday dinner with my husband. Overall experience was surprisingly ok. This was our go to place 15 years ago but lost us to inconsistent food quality. Received a gift card from my daughter so we went with reservation on how the evening would turn out.We had clams casino and stuff mushrooms for appetizers. Stuff mushrooms were great but the 6 clams casino were a little bigger than a quarter. Not cherry stones as advertised or as big in the past. Over priced for 12.00. We both had the lobster and steak dinner special and upgraded to the Filet for$8.00. Both dinners we're cook as ordered. Finished dinner sharing a Banana Fosters prepared table side.
Our server was very polite, accommodating, and added to the great experience we had. The food was outstanding and we will absolutely be back! I highly recommend the crab cakes and filet surf and turf, the duck, and the Irish coffee! Best Irish coffee I've had!
My wife and I had a very enjoyable and great meal for our 46th wedding anniversary the food was terrific and the waitress was terrific and answered our questions about everything about our meals. Great place to take friends and family for a great time, great drinks and excellent food.
My husband chose The Mendenhall Inn's Sunday Brunch to celebrate his birthday and, as usual, we were not disappointed. The ambiance is elegant and alive and the choice of dishes comprising the Brunch was delicious. We were spoiled with Mimosas as we waited for our party to assemble and then seated at a very comfortable round table in the main dining room. Rick, our waiter, was diligent but not overbearing and made great suggestion on how to proceed with the menu. We have been to larger birthday parties here and even then, the service and selections were wonderful. We can thoroughly recommend The Mendenhall Inn for your many occasions.
Now THIS is what I'm talkin about! We were very comfortable in our group of both elegant and business casual dress and welcomed and seated in the formal dining room to celebrate Mom's 89th. Patrick was delightfully and perfectly attentive and made Mom feel special which we appreciated. Our orders ranged from filet minion, sirloin, veal, salmon and haddock and we were all delighted with our dinners. Our water glasses, coffee cups and bread plates were kept full, adding to the unforgettable experience of perfect dining. Mom's favorite part at the Mendenhall is ordering her dessert; tableside flambé! as well as sharing all of OUR dessert too! LOL our pictures are priceless. Thanks Mendenhall, for doing things right! We will be back again.
I took my wife there for our anniversary. We had not been back to the Mendenhall Inn in several years. It was Monday night and the restaurant was not full at all. The specials on the menu were excellent and I think reasonably priced. The quality of the food was very good and Logan, our server, did a nice job. Over-all we were very impressed and will definitely put the Mendenhall on our list of good restaurants. In addition, the new bar area (new to us)they have is very nice and the bar menu looks very attractive. We will definitely try that for a casual dinner as well.
We sat in the outdoor terrace on a beautiful night. There was soft music on in the background and a nice outdoor fireplace. It was surf and turf night as well. We started with the stuffed mushrooms which were delicious! We both got surf and turf; I opted for filet mignon and my husband went for the prime rib, both served with a 6 oz lobster tail. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. Ended with dessert and coffee. Definitely suggest the mendenhall coffee as they come out and do a whole show with fire! Lots of fun and a great meal!
Friday night theme night menu was Seafood for $30.00. Sat down at 8:00pm and was told all the seafood theme night specials were sold out. Ended up had to order something else. I believe the restaurant used bait and switch tactic here. How could they be out of seafood for the theme night special at 8:00. Been for a long time customer. Will not go there anymore.
A whole bunch of blah.
Empty restaurant. Food was prepped in advance and warmed for serving. Tasted just like it sounds. Something gave us both an intestinal upset. I suspect the stuffed flounder on "fresh fish night" was not quite so.
Best of all was the server. I asked him to give us 10 minutes so we could have a private conversation. He proceeds to return to give us bread, then returns again to fill our water. What part of "go away" was not clear?
Very disappointed by the quality of food. The food was precooked and warmed up before it was brought to the table. There was nothing to talk about presentation or taste. Ingredients were essentially cooked and randomly put on the plate. Maybe the executive chef was still on vacation.
Food was very poor. French onion soup was way too salty. My filet was not tasty and contained gristle. Two of our friends could not eat the fish stuffed with crab, etc special and we had to return it. It smelled bad and tasted 'tinny' as was explained to my wife and I.
Needless to say, my wife and I were very disapppointed! The meal was definitely too high priced for the quality of what we received.
We've eaten at Mendenhall before and it was excellent (approx. 3 yrs ago). But I doubt if we will return. Very bad experience.
