Excellent food and service! Tops any restaurant I had eaten in the past! 🥰
The Sunday brunch is just wonderful. So much to select from and plenty of everything. So beautiful there for the holidays.
Special night fine dining. Everything and everyone thoroughly pleasing.
We’ll go back.
Great discovery. Excellent food and value, perfect during a trip to Longwood at Christmas
The atmosphere and service was great! The food tasted great overall but I felt the rib eye tasted a bit bland. It was still a great experience.
Irish Coffee prepared at your table is a must when dining at the Mendenhall Inn. My wife and I had an incredible meal and will be back soon.
The food, atmosphere, and service were exceptional. It was the perfect place to have a special anniversary dinner for two and celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday!
Been dining at the Mendenhall for 35 years. Always have great food service .The soups were delicious. The beet salad was very food. Crab cakes and duck did not disappoint I gave my review four stars for food because the Salmon was tasteless and the Peach Melba was not as good as It’s been in the past. Lacked raspberry sauce. Will definitely return when we are in the Kenneth Square area again.
My husband’s 60th birthday.
The service was excellent. Food was good.
There was a table in front of the fireplace that took away the ambience.
I was disappointed a bit with the quality of food for the price. I ordered the halibut special and it was just ok. I am by no means a chef and think my home made crusted halibut was better. The sauce on the halibut was lack luster and the shrimp with it were puny and had zero flavor. The two guests I was with enjoyed their dinners however. The lobster bisque was good. The tiramisu wasn’t all that great. Why change traditional tiramisu when the original recipe is already great? Don’t mess with a good thing….not what I expected.
The service and ambience were excellent. The food was mediocre and overpriced.
Myself, nieces and my boys had an amazing Thanksgiving. The Mendenhall Inn was beautiful.
We were excited to try the mendenhall for thanksgiving, but we were disappointed. The food was not very good and the service was also kind of strange. The food was “okay” but nothing we would come back for. I hate to write negative reviews, but if I were the owner, I would want to know where I could improve. Hopefully it was just an off day because it was a holiday.
We went to the Mendenhall Inn for Thanksgiving dinner this year. With the varied diets in my family and people coming in from out of town, I didn’t want to cook multiple meals. First, it’s a beautiful restaurant, the entire compound, the inn and the restaurant, beautiful! The ambiance was lovely, the service was fantastic, plenty of meal choices on the menu, everything was delicious and prepared beautifully. I would definitely eat a holiday meal there again. Can I also say I’m thankful to the folks who worked on a holiday so that me and my family could eat together.
Haven't been there for a long time. My friend ordered the turkey dinner, which was processed turkey, and became ill after eating it. Only two medium - sized stuffed mushrooms for the appetizer. Lobster bisque and mushroom soup mediocre at best. Very disappointed to say the least. Our server, Rick, was the best. So happy we were fortunate enough to have him!
The Mendenhall Inn was a beautiful setting for Thanksgiving dinner with a fellow single. We had excellent service and delicious food. On the ride home, we speculated this might be the start of an annual tradition.
There was 4 for Thanksgiving Day Dinner. We all enjoyed a sitdown traditional Turkey Dinner, what else on Thanksgiving Day? The Mushroom Bisque was a small but tasty appitizer. Service was very good
Thanksgiving a la carte menu was very good. Staff was polite, courteous and attentive without being intrusive. Always a pleasure dining at the Mendenhall Inn.
Thanksgiving and Birthday dinner. Perfection from parking to service to the delicious meal. Thank you for a memorable holiday.
Thanksgiving dinner was superb. We had the prime rib along with the shrimp cocktail. Bloody Marys were excellent as was the apple pie for dessert. The servers were friendly and made certain we had everything we needed. Perfect dinner, perfect staff in a great restaurant!
Very nice facility close to Longwood Gardens. Highly recommend both for a getaway at any time, but Christmastime is especially stunning.
Excellent food. A little pricey. Older crowd.
A very good high end buffet brunch, excellent for affluent visitors to the Brandywine Valley attractions. An old-world and genteel ambience.
Amazing service, food and service. Outstanding attention to small details.
Our beef was extremely well prepared and we highly recommend the queen cut prime rib ; great quality and not excessively large. Suggest dining in the rear original restaurant area for the best ambiance.
Waited 2 hrs from time we were seated for our dinner. Food was mediocre at best…our waitress was very good, but length of time totally unacceptable. Very dissatisfied.
Overall the experience was fair. We were seated right at our reservation time but it slowed from there. After about 10 minutes we were greeted for our drink order and 10 minutes later they arrived. When I sipped my "sprite" it was a gin and tonic. Another 10 minutes to correct that and take our orders. About 45 minutes in and we got our appetizers. Another 30 to 40 minutes before our entrees made it and they were very bland. The quality of the prime rib was good, but lacking in flavor. The stuffed lobster tail was good, but again sides were lacking in flavor. If you are someone that likes bland food and prefer a slow pace then this would be a great place for you, but if you are used to seasoned food and do not want to spend 2 and a half hours for dinner you may want to choose a different location. All the staff was very friendly and the manager did comp desert after speaking to him about my concerns.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our waiter, Andy was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious and we were very pleased, as usual.
One of our favorite places for special occasions!!
Very good , food was very good as the drinks were
So disappointed. Ordered the strip steak cooked medium. Came out cold and rare. Never send food back but It was almost raw. Waited about 15 minutes for it to come back out. Looked like it was never taken off the plate. Never even took a bite. Trying to support our local businesses but I don't know if I will go back.
If you want guaranteed class, from food to service to ambiance, the Mendenhall is a guarantee. Closed for 18 months, it's back, and many of us just couldn't be happier.
Shahriar was THE BEST waiter!!! He was professional, had a sense of humor and saw to our every need. Our party of 4 each got a different entree and there were no complaints only complements. The atmosphere could not have been more perfect. We will definitely be back.
We haven't been there in a couple years and always thought the food was outstanding, but we were very disappointed in this trip. First, when we were being seated, we were shown to a small table next to a pole and a closet where alcohol is stored. I guess you could tell by my face I didn't want to sit there so we were given a better table. (Note: A large birthday party was seated about half hour later and they would have been VERY close on the other side of the pole. It was NOT crowded in there)
The food: I was looking forward to the crab cakes, but they were terrible. I realize the price of crab is high, but it was all claw meat. Lobster bisque was also disappointing. Prime rib was very good as always. And so was the french toast. Very limited on what you could get in your omelet... lets put it this way, if you ordered a western omelet, there were no peppers. No spinach or broccoli if you wanted a veggie omelet.
And then on to desserts.... They were always know for bananas foster, but that was also disappointing. It was sitting in saute pan and was slightly heated when ordered and served over ice cream. If it was fresh it would have been much better. But warmed up... not so much. Mini cannolli shells were soft so they were not good either. The strawberries were good.
Service: Andy was our server and was very attentive and nice. The service was the high mark of the visit.
Overall very disappointed and won't go back for the brunch.
The food was outstanding !!! Our server Shahriar was outstanding , very attentive to our every need , we will be asking for him going forward at each vist.
Service was fantastic food great!
Went there last night for our anniversary and we had a great time! I had asked for a nice table and they gave us what seemed to be the best table in the place. The staff was super nice and great! We're definitely coming back!
Great service from Krista, she as awesomely attentive.
Duck entre was excellent, however queen cut of prime rib was tough.
