Melt Ratings and Reviews
First time in many visits I was a bit disappointed. Server got my order wrong (pasta error) and apologized for his error and offered to change out, but since my wife's meal was there, I declined. Spaghetti polpette. I ordered capellini/angel hair and got regular spaghetti (too heavy for me). Sauce and meatballs were overspiced; had a gritty, acrid taste (guess too much basil and/or oregano). Won't turn me off to the place since we've had many good meals there, but won't order this item again.
The staff was amazing from the moment we walked in the door until we were on our way out. The waiter was attentive throughout the meal and the manager stopped by twice to check in. We ordered the prime rib and it looked awesome (the special of the night). Unfortunately it was delivered medium to cool temperature which made the fat in the meat taste like I was eating lard, not a good taste.
The desserts were awesome.
The rating for this restaurant was 5 stars but when I compare it to a place like Tara's in Upper Black Eddy (which has unfortunately closed) I would give this 3.5 -
Melt has become a couple-times-a-year tradition when my in-laws visit. The experience is consistent and the food is delicious. My wife's new favorite is the veal pappardelle. My father-in-law has an affinity for the osso buco. On a whim I tried the seasonal ravioli, which were enjoyable, but didn't have an overly "fig" taste. My mother-in-law is hard to please and was disappointed that the filet mignon wasn't served with some sort of potato. Having said that, the filet was cooked perfectly and plated beautifully on top of a portobello mushroom. We all enjoyed the seasonal fried zucchini and burrata appetizer.
The service was great. On the Saturday night when we visited, the noise level was reasonable, but don't expect to have intimate conversations across the table. In our round booth is was sometimes difficult for us to hear each other. Overall, an enjoyable dining experience.
Went for Thanksgiving. The service was excellent. The menu was fixed and served family style. The quality of the food was pleasing. What I really liked was the attention to detail for each dish, everything was tasty and the portions were generous. There was even the traditional leftovers to take home.
Yesterday was Thanksgiving and we six family members chose Melt. We have eaten there several times and the food on the normal menu has always been good, but Thanksgiving is a family time. Dinner was served family style with lots of food and options to make everyone happy. That family vibe you want was accomplished as the family style platters mirrored what would have been on our dining table at home. The food was delicious, the wait staff was upbeat despite having to work and not be with their families and the ambiance of Melt is warm but chic.
We are so happy we decided to have our Thanksgiving meal at Melt. Plus, the leftovers came home with us. Absolutely the best!!
The atmosphere, service and food were incredible! The food was delicious! I got the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. Portions were perfect as well. We had the polenta and asparagus as a side and they were mouth watering. Can't wait to go back. Maybe this time we will make it to the desserts :-)
Melt is one of the places where we eat several times a year; the food is always high quality, with friendly, attentive service. It gets very noisy, which we don't like, so we usually eat early. My only negative is that I would like to see more vegetarian offerings. Italian restaurants usually have many more than Melt. How about a vegetable risotto or pasta?
Gorgeous place - I’ve had a number of good business lunches at Melt, but tonight was a different story. Service was well-meaning so bad it was comical. The menu is great but the food was not - gummy pasta, salty chicken — very disappointing . Please do more training for your staff and make sure that the kitchen works as well on a Sunday night as it does on a weekday.
This was our first time at Melt. The service was excellent, there were many menu choices so everyone's dietary needs could be met. we all enjoyed our meals, the portion size was more than adequate. We could hear each other speak so not too much background noise.
We went for my 30th birthday and the food was fantastic. The server didn’t know the menu and was rather absentee, but sweet. We did find it odd that on the bill it listed a “complimentary cheesecake” as a $10 charge. I mean, not the kind of place you get nit-picky with the bill, just found that funny.
Food was good, although the old menu is sorely missed (seriously, new menu is more like Cheesecake Factory for twice the price). Service was ludicrously bad. We were basically tossed into a dark corner and forgotten for two hours on a Saturday night when the place was far from packed.
We were accommodated with friendly and professional reception. We made a reservation for four but changed to six at the last minute. Our waiter was very good. He was attentive and very cordial and friendly. Every one in our group ordered something different, and all were very delicious. Then after our meal, we hung out in the lobby to take a few group selfies. The hostess stepped in and offered to help by taking a few photos.
Thanks to all the employees here who made our meal very special.
We had a nice dinner. Party of three with pre meal drinks and a bottle of wine during dinner, I think we spent about $230 bucks including the tip. Food is good, pasta is my fav there. The portion sizes are generous, bread is good. All in all it was a great night with my son and his fiancee.
The only thing that is moderately irritating is the valet parking. Melt is on a corner where you have to drive into the shops and they (or the company they have doing it) cone off about 20 spaces right outside of the restaurant. If you pull into the lot and someone is using valet parking its kind of hazardous crossing the street to get into the place. Its to congested to do it where they have it set up. The young kids that are parking the cars (all on their cell phones standing around) have to drive your car about 10 feet in order to park it. Why not have a real valet system and have them park the cars over behind the theaters and let these guys trot out to get the cars and leave the close spots to the shoppers. Its really kind of silly, its dangerous and looks stupid. Melt should scrap the valet parking.
Melt is a good restaurant with nice ambiance. The dining tables are large enough, which isn't always the case where I live in NYC. The food was very good, but not memorable. I had a prime rib and my guest had a bouillabaisse and pasta. The service was excellent. The wine list is quite good and reasonably priced. A bottle of Oakville Cabernet did the trick. I would suggest Melt invest in some new menu's. It may seem like a minor issue but I've seen local, family type restaurants with better looking menu's. They are cheap in appearance and not particularly clean.
We had loved Melt but the past three visit have been hugely disappointing. This last visit will now be our LAST visit. Too many issue to review them all. Not worth my time or this space. A darn shame as this had been one of our favorites. You could get lucky and order the right item on the right day with the right cook and server. We have missed on all counts this visit. Perhaps if enough people who are annoyed with any aspect of their visit to Melt would tell the manager these problem could be resolved and Melt could reclaim a desirable status. Good luck.
Melt is a warm and welcoming place. Our waitress, Natalie, was a professional in her welcoming presence, her knowledge of entrees and cocktails, and her helpfulness with suggestions. Her sense of timing, of serving, of caring for our preferences was superb and made a fine dining evening even nicer. Our dinners were served hot, even for outdoor service. The scallops were delicious as she had promised, and my wife was again pleased with her salmon and salad. The outdoor temperature was delightful, and we give Natalie and the restaurant credit for that as well!
Many thanks to the hostess for seating us at our preferred table outside. It does make a difference, and we thank her for her thoughtfulness and kindness.
