About Melrose Grill

Renton’s Finest Foods Since 1901! * Steakhouse voted #1 Western WA 2010 & 2014 * Historic Landmark in Renton
The building in which the Melrose Grill resides was established in 1901 and has served as a tavern since the days of the horse and buggy. It also operated as a pool hall, soda shop and card room during Prohibition. Recently restored, Melrose Grill kept its historic roots with the original mirror-backed bar with its rich, dark woods. The walls showcase vintage photos that highlight the transitions this grand building has gone through. With wainscoting on the walls, low-slung lamps and high ceilings the space feels as open as the West was when it was built. The Food and Service at Melrose Grill will amaze and delight your senses. We work hard to provide our customers with the finest foods available, and prepare them in a way that will tame even most particular palate. Voted #1 Steakhouse in Western WA by King 5 & Evening Ma.

We love the steak and is always cooked to perfection. We were also given our own table as requested when I made our reservation. Our server was very attentive to our needs and made sure we had everything we needed. The noise level that night was awful! Thanks to the group of rowdy men seated so close to us. Not your fault. But then again, I suppose since the restaurant is small it will be hard to minimize the noise. The bathroom was very clean. I truly appreciate that. We will be back for sure.

My wife and I went out for the first time since having our son. He is now 2. We chose Melrose because it was close and we loved it the first time we went a few years back. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, the service was excellent. We ordered a few drinks, rib eye with king crab, and the top sirloin. Both cooked to Med Rare perfection. We took the pecan cheesecake to go, and it was the perfect end to a phenomenal meal. The bourbon list was also impressive. We will return and continue to recommend this great local establishment.

This place never disappoints. First off they have to be doing something right, it is a hard place to get a reservation at. It just is. The reason is clear when you get there. Good food, great service. This evening I had the brochette & prawns. So delicious. Dessert we had the coconut bread pudding. Amazing. Eat here. You will not be disappointed.

Arrived 2 minutes before reservation and lots it people waiting we were taken to our table straight away. Our service was beyond great and fast our waiter was knowledgeable adout all the specials and was very fast with the food and service.Food was plentiful and great. The only minus was the cherry crisp tasted burnt. I am already telling friends about this place and am planning to go back in about two weeks. Make a reservation so you don’t have to wait.

Saturday Date night for an old married couple. We’d heard great things about Melrose but never been. There was a long line waiting when they opened at 4:00. Glad we had reservations. I wouldn’t recommend just showing up. Ribeye was ordered medium rare and came out perfect. Well seasoned and the garlic mashed potatoes went perfectly. In addition, there was a serving of vegetables which I expected to ignore, but wow were they full and f flavor and perfectly done. My husband had salmon on a Caesar salad and his was perfectly cooked as well. We can’t wait to go back and bring friends with us!

The Melrose is a great restaurant. Excellent service and food.

The place is small and very popular so reservations are recommended. Just to give you an idea how busy, while waiting for the rest of our group, the walk ins were being told that it would be an hour wait. It was a Friday night at 5:30 which is probably the busiest night of the week.

It is worth the drive to Renton

Celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary the food and service was excellent. At times I felt it was a bit noisy but nothing that I wouldn’t expect in a busy restaurant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends.

I have been to Melrose Grill many times but less and less as the price has gone up. My steak was quite good but the vegetables, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Cauliflower and Broccoli were quite uninspiring and overcooked. I love the Parmesan roasted potatoes. Salad was good but not enough dressing.

Ok we have been going to Melrose for years. However we normally get the steak or salmon - both are excellent. But this time I tried the chicken dish. Normally chicken is a bit boring but the presentation and sauce at Melrose will make me add chicken to my meal rotation. Great value with bread/salad and the service is always friendly.

As usual, the food was outstanding. The fare is basic, but everything from the steak to the pastas is very well done. The wine list is limited, but most selections are very good. Great place for a dinner date or with small group of friends.

Had reservations at 8:45 p.m. checked in at 8:35 p.m. and did not get seated till well after 9 p.m.
The confirmation from Melrose Grill stated that if we weren't there with our entire party within 10 minutes from the time of reservation that we would lose our place and have to wait for the next available table. So what I don't understand is why it's okay for them to make people with reservations wait. Not happy with this process at all and probably will not soon go back.

What a fantastic gem of a steakhouse in downtown Renton. They have great cocktails, a wonderful Washington centric wine list, fish and vegetarian options, and complete meals. Meaning salad and sides are included. But the steaks were simy amazing. Perfect, lean, cooked just so, divine. Dessert was delicious, and our server, Michael, was fantastic. Every time I go, it reminds me why I love this place!! (my phone was acting up, so all I have is the cocktail specials!)

Always a big fan of this place. Excellent food, great service. My only complaint is it gets SO LOUD inside. It’s exhausting to try and yell over everybody in order to have a conversation. Nothing they can do about it though. I eat here about 5-8 times a year give or take. Never had a bad meal or bad service. My favorite steakhouse in south King county by far.
