About Melrose Grill

Renton’s Finest Foods Since 1901! * Steakhouse voted #1 Western WA 2010 & 2014 * Historic Landmark in Renton
The building in which the Melrose Grill resides was established in 1901 and has served as a tavern since the days of the horse and buggy. It also operated as a pool hall, soda shop and card room during Prohibition. Recently restored, Melrose Grill kept its historic roots with the original mirror-backed bar with its rich, dark woods. The walls showcase vintage photos that highlight the transitions this grand building has gone through. With wainscoting on the walls, low-slung lamps and high ceilings the space feels as open as the West was when it was built. The Food and Service at Melrose Grill will amaze and delight your senses. We work hard to provide our customers with the finest foods available, and prepare them in a way that will tame even most particular palate. Voted #1 Steakhouse in Western WA by King 5 & Evening Ma.

Had the porterhouse. It was fabulous. Seasonal veggies were good and the baked potato was great, although perhaps on the small side.. The steak was really really good.

Had reservations at 8:45 p.m. checked in at 8:35 p.m. and did not get seated till well after 9 p.m.
The confirmation from Melrose Grill stated that if we weren't there with our entire party within 10 minutes from the time of reservation that we would lose our place and have to wait for the next available table. So what I don't understand is why it's okay for them to make people with reservations wait. Not happy with this process at all and probably will not soon go back.

What a fantastic gem of a steakhouse in downtown Renton. They have great cocktails, a wonderful Washington centric wine list, fish and vegetarian options, and complete meals. Meaning salad and sides are included. But the steaks were simy amazing. Perfect, lean, cooked just so, divine. Dessert was delicious, and our server, Michael, was fantastic. Every time I go, it reminds me why I love this place!! (my phone was acting up, so all I have is the cocktail specials!)

Always a big fan of this place. Excellent food, great service. My only complaint is it gets SO LOUD inside. It’s exhausting to try and yell over everybody in order to have a conversation. Nothing they can do about it though. I eat here about 5-8 times a year give or take. Never had a bad meal or bad service. My favorite steakhouse in south King county by far.

Wife took me to Melrose Grill for Veteran's Day dinner - one day later. opted to sit at bar where our service is always good (we had open table reservation for table) and we have a chance to chat with great staff. Wife had brochette of shrimp/beef and I - Cajun seafood pasta...both outstanding and combined with large salad, enough food for dinner at home last night. Corkage wine - $15. No dessert...will return often.

Delicious! We enjoyed the scallops and porterhouse. The chef seared the scallops in bacon, so delightful and melt in your mouth. Glass was always full and table clean. Service great.

Three of the four of us thoroughly enjoyed their filets my rib eye was good with typical 1/3 fat. My wife loved the garlic mashed potatoes my side salad was a little wilted and the blue cheese dressing was lacking blue cheese. It was a great meal with friends and we will be returning. I plan to explore their menu over time.

Absolutely one of the premier steak houses in greater Seattle. I got the Cajun Linguini this time instead of a steak and wasn't disappointed! Also, the Stroganoff that my wife got was superior.

The food was amazing and great to have a local spot in Renton for a great steak. I'm seriously considering why I go to the fancier steakhouses after eating at Melrose Grill.

The restaurant was closed because they lost power. It would have been nice if they had called their reservations and informed them. I could have saved the $23 Uber ride.

This was not our first experience dining at Melrose Grill. The location and ambiance are great for friends to meet and have a meal together. The casual atmosphere is relaxing and allows you to enjoy your company along with good food. The food at Melrose Grill is consistent and tasteful. The staff is attentive and helpful. For an enjoyable evening, the Melrose Grill is a good value.

We loved it! In town for business, we were looking for a great steak... Melrose did NOT disappoint! We had the Bison Ribeye (mine with the Maine Lobster Tail, my buddy’s with King Crab Legs). Holy _____! This meal did not disappoint, in ANY way.

Our server was Mary... she was as awesome as the meal!

If you find yourself in Renton, DO NOT miss this place!

Unfortunately we were seated for 45 minutes after the reservation time as my husband was there waiting but I was caught in traffic near Bellevue and arrived 18 minutes late (their policy is that all members of the party must be present to be seated and they only hold the reservation for 15 minutes I was 3 minutes past that time). I even called to let them know of my late arrival. Once seated we were greeted by our server but she was distracted by other party requesting a drink and she failed to order our prawn dinner. So after our Delmonico steak dinner was delivered we requested a prawn dinner and she argued with us about ordering it originally. A side plate of 4 large prawns arrived a few minutes later to our table. This was disappointing as we were celebrating my birthday. The food was fantastic and she brought a creme brûlée dessert with a candle which was nice. She never asked us if we wanted an after dinner drink or coffee. Disappointed in the service this time but normally very good. Still recommend the restaurant for a flavorable steak dinner.

Great Steakhouse! Small neighborhood restaurant with fabulous service. I love that when I go the food will be as good as it was the time before! I love their steak but often find myself getting a seafood special. Then I steal a steak bite off my husband's plate. I should just order the add on tenderloin skew. They have a tomato salad you'll dream about. Suggest reservations Melrose is always busy.
