Melisse is the original Santa Monica fine diner, and it's still pretty wonderful.
The food and service was spectacular. It is definitely a special occasion place.
Excelente en todo sentido
Carta de vinos franceses notable
Everything was perfection! Plan to spend 3 hours for the10 course.
Best meal and service we've had in years! Thank you!!!
Matthew was an amazing sommelier. Really had an animated way of describing flavors and scents to the wine, we remembered him from out last experience. Food was great, especially the lobster Bolognese, and the service was excellent!
Sommelier was very arrogant which spoiled the evening. He made us feel very small and talked down to us.
Probably the best restaurant in L.A. The food is grounded in classical technique but is far from predictable. Chef Citrin gets great flavors out of very fresh, seasonal ingredients. One of my favorites.
I think for this price what they propose the design of the restaurant no good , toilets look chip, they don't have open window , it is dark , no fashion or style , it doesn't look luxury restaurant , all from outside of the building and inside , Service was good they do the best but also I feel like I'm in the prison I don't have my choice they just propose what they want we to order , it not what I want to order , for example choice between two different kind of meat and if you don't eat mammals meat, but I'm not vegetarian, i like to have a fish you don't have it separate , so I don't visit this restaurant again for these Price it's a lot of better restaurants in Los Angeles
It a very good restaurant but over priced. $33 for a scotch you can get anywhere in town for at worst for 18 is silly and is over reaching. Staff was excellent food was very good
I do believe it's over price.
You're forced to get a menu. We got the 7 courses which was $165/person. You need to choose between risotto w/truffle and Claims fettuccine (some like that). We got one each. At the end of the meal we were charged $45 extra because we decided we wanted the one risotto. No indication about that.
Also I did NOT see any French.... isn't this supposed the best French restaurant in LA?
Also I think they should change the menu. I went 5 years ago and looked the same.
Overall GOOD but if they make me pay premium, I want PREMIUM FOOD and I did not get it.
Absolutely fantastic. Pricey, but well worth every penny.
Outstanding! Best meal ever.
Food, service, menu all great except TOO MUCH SALT!
Best restaurant in LA. Period.
We had the 7 course tasting menu which was superb. The egg and caviar was a highlight as was the superb wine paring. Expensive, but worth it!
It was my wife’s Birthday
Fine dinning !
Vaut un étoilé
Beside being misgendered the entire evening, the fact dessert was replaced by a freaking bowl of berries made me very disappointed considering I had told them I was severely gluten intolerant.
Not mentioning they did not bring us the cannelés at the end while other table had gotten some.
Overall the food was good ... But overall I would say it was definitely not worth the price.
I do not expect to be disappointed in anyway when I pay that price.
We ended up paying $576
I would also discourage any person who support transgenders to go there.
Wow! What a fantastic restaurant that is a no miss on the Los Angeles food scene. Going strong at a level unparalleled to most Josiah Citrin is an amazing Chef who drives this restaurant to the level of perfection they are at. From your first sip of the melisse infused rhubarb drink to the final sip of tea you are in another world entirely. Can’t wait to return next year!
I did the 7 course dinner and requested a vegetarian meal. It was simply outstanding.
Delicious beautiful and healthy combined with excellent service and an incredible wine list.
Great quiet environment and super relaxing evening with the amazing art and craft of fine dining at its very best.
We have dined at Melisse several times and they never disappoint. It is not a restaurant for a quick meal - they truly understand the art of fine dining which requires time and appreciation of how the food is presented and served. All of that does not take away from incredible taste! We are looking forward to the next time.
It was home run after home run with each course. Nice touch to have a different chef come introduce each course. All the flavors were great. Hit of the night was the truffle risotto.
It was my wife’s birthday dinner. Good experience. Everything good here but not very good or exceptional. Bit expensive but service totally justified that.
Haven’t been there for a while ,good as always
The hosts at the front were very helpful, but seemed a little stressed. Things were running just a little late, but we didn’t mind.
Once we were seated, all of the servers and wait staff were very friendly and informative. Only twice were things taken before we were quite ready. Would return!
Valentine’s Day...Loved everything but the price. $375 per person??
With wine i& tip it was over $1000 for just two of us.
Felt like gouging.
The food was mediocre and at $550/person with wine pairing, I believe it should be amazing. I won’t go back
Absolutely amazing! The service was just as mind blowing as the food.
Outstanding service and food! We were pleasantly surprised with the wine pairing in that the order wasn’t the standard champagne, white, red, dessert. The sommelier spent a good deal of time explaining his choice for order of the wines as well as the choice of glassware for each selection. It’s an expensive dinner but if you aren’t phased by that the experience is worth it!
The restaurant is very quiet, love the ambiance, everyone is attentive to your needs. The chef comes out and deliver your food to your table and explain what your getting. However, due to artistic presentation of your food it was kinda hard to pay attention. The food is delicately prepared. The size is just right, we went for a 4 course meal. I ended my meal with a bang with the vanilla souffle and cara cara ice cream. It definitely hit the spot!
On the side note:Went to celebrate my birthday with my bf... made the reservation under open table and specifically gave instructions when I called melisse to confirm that I will use my open tab however when paying our server brought the bill and my bf insisting on paying. I was informed by our server that open table is down for the night and that I need to pay with my card. I didn't get any points for my reservation and emailed opentable but they claimed that I didn't book it thru them.
Truly a real treat
Great level of fine cuisine ! Everything was good from beginning to the end !
Superb! Fantastic and well worth it!
Everything is good there, I like the way they serve and good food!!
It was a pretty nice dinner
Have been several times over the past 15 years. Consistently excellent nouvelle french cuisine. Very attentive service. Absolutely top 5 restaurant in LA
The appetizers were amazing, but the rockfish and American wagyu beef were average. Utensils, glasses, decor were not up to normal fine dining standard. Came here for the dineLA menu but hopefully the regular set menus are much better
Thoroughly enjoyed the experience; amazing food and impeccable service. Can’t wait to dine here again.
So disappointed with our 2nd visit to Melisse. We ordered dinner with wine pairing and were told wine would start after amuse bouche. Never in a million years did we think it would be 45 minutes before we got drinks. We would have ordered martinis to start, but we weren't even asked if we'd like cocktails, and then we couldn't get anyone's attention.
The food presentation was stunning but the meal was underwhelming. The oyster with veal tartare amuse bouche is not for everyone, and we wondered what happened to the old school cuisine. It seems like Melisse is going for trendy and that wasn't what we were expecting!
