perfectly paced, the 7 course prix fixe was excellent. Loved that each chef came out to explain the course. Wine service of Matthew was exemplary. Super venue, very elegant, top notch cuisine and several amuse bouche. Only weak spot was desserts—but the restaurant sets a high standard.

Seriously - melisse was wonderful. I took my lovely girlfriend there for her birthday and everything was spectacular. I would whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone. Especially if you enjoy high end dining.

Everything a two star Michelin restaurant should be and more! I was so so impressed when I went. All the food was on point and if I wasn’t excited about a dish, it was more due to previous dislike of that ingredient than the dish itself. I would actually go so far to say that I loved every dish that they served (a rarity!). The standouts for me were the venison and the rock fish. Improvements could be made for the bathrooms (which looked more like they should belong in a diner, not a high end restaurant) and pacing of the meal. There were times where we waited an inordinate amount of time compared to those around us. Also, servers tended to change a lot so there was no way to build a rapport with any of them. However, that does not mean service was lacking. They were very cognizant of water refills and meticulous about whisking the plates away (done at the same time by 2 different servers!). Definitely recommend Melisse for any special occasion!

This place always impresses. The food is sublime , creative and near perfect every time we've been here. The wine list is also a must as it's nothing short of outstanding. I've had some of the best and most unique red burgundy I've ever tasted here. Definitely worth it!

The food was very well prepared and presented. Truffle reign supreme here. Wine list was excellent. Our sommelier was exceptional. The price can add up real quick though and the Open dining room can get noisy.

Over priced for the food quality and service. Can not believe it was on the top 50 restaurants in LA. I expected 5 star food and service got 2.5 stars and 5 star price. The egg course was amazing then just crashed! Very disappointed.

We flew in from Seattle to have a special 10 year anniversary celebration. We picked Melisse because we were looking for a dress up, over the top night. We made the right pick, stellar service, the food amazing. We went with the 7 course, the pace and timing was excellent. As a former restaurant cook I really appreciated the cooks coming out to the floor and presenting the dishes. Pricey as hell though but we knew that going in would return if we lived in LA.

This restaurant is an absolute gem. The food is beautiful, The service is impeccable, and those 2 stars are really well deserved. If you love amazing food, this place is a must. The wine list is extensive and amazing. Each dish is a piece of art, and it's an explosion of flavors and textures at each bite. We just can't wait to go back.

My husband and I love going to Michelin rated restaurants. They are not always amazing. This one ranks up at the top. The courses were daring without being ridiculous. Soup with sorbet... whaaat??

We had the 10 menu with the wine pairings. There were two absolutely amazing dishes, like the spot prawn. About five to six average dishes and two dishes that really need improvement. Overall Ok, but given the high standards and price level, every dish should have an emotional experience. Also too many sweet wines paired with the dishes.

Too saucy. Too convoluted. Too salty. Too inconsistent. Too disappointing.

Too many sauces and add-ons that made the dishes confusing. Prawn dish was nice but the bits of squash for texture was odd and unnecessary.

Connective tissue all over my beef! Not even the knife could cut through. Felt like we got the scraps of a nice piece of meat. Components of the dish were nice eaten on its own but they didn't go with the bits of beef I was able to salvage and enjoy.

Rabbit was undercooked, lacked flavor and chewy. It was dropped off and the server said "enjoy" and walked away. I had to ask someone else to give me a description of what I was eating. Service was inconsistent and ok at best.

Tone of asking for plates was harsh and borderline impatient: "are you done?!"I've never felt this way at any Michelin starred restaurant I've eatem at and I've never felt compelled to even write a review. I know Michelin guide is not a thing in LA anymore but a previously 2 star restaurant should have better service!

Our 10 course dinner was finished at 8:30p and started at 6p. We did not leave the restaurant until 10:10p waiting for "compliments" of the chef and the check.

Online menu offered a duck dish but it was replaced with the rabbit dish. I looked online the same day...an update online would have been nice. I understand the menu changes daily but is an update really that difficult on the day of? I was really looking forward to the duck dish.

It was truly a disappointment for the amount of $$$$$ we spent.

Refined and ambitious but doesn't compete well with European multi-course gastronomy. The food was good but not worth the price. The ingredient combinations were not particularly creative or imaginative. The numerous add-ons were particularly grating considering the price of the meal... $600 for two people including gratuity, brought our own bottle of wine for a $50 corkage (have never seen a corkage that expensive) plus ordered 3 more glasses.

DROPPED THE BALL

We were dining here for a birthday dinner for my fiancée.
3 times i informed the restaraunt this
1: Upon booking my reservation i was called to confirm and i was asked if there was an occasion and i explained it was for a birthday.
2: I called the day of dinner to confirm and had a very detailed conversation with the woman on the phone about doing something special ( cake, candles, etc.).
3: Upon arriving and being seated by the hostess we were asked if we were celebrating a birthday. I replied yes and pointed at my other half.

We watched them bring 2 other birthday desserts for other couples while nothing ever came for us. No happy birthday, nothing. Kind of felt left out. Are we not as good as them?
Tried to say something when leaving but no one was at the front because they were closing. Called the manager the next day though, and he was apologetic.
Restaurants 10% the price of here have never screwed up a birthday dinner for me.
Will always remember this as the place where everyone else had a good time except for us.
Might as well go to Chili's or yardhouse.

Nothing but the best. Melisse is well-deserving of all the praise it receives. I have had nothing short of an exceptional experience. The work in establishing the wine list had to be monumental. Everyone starting with our initial greeting to the final goodbye that evening was so gracious and helpful in creating a wonderful evening. Thank you.

We were given a table next to Chinese tourists(I can tell from language they spoke) and one of them dressed a t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes without socks. Most of non-Chinese guests had ties(at least jackets). But several Chinese groups were not in apropriate attire. Service was not great. It took more than three hours for seven course dinner. Only a few courses were good, but others were average or worse. My N.Y. steak was so tough I could not cut with a steak knife. They offered me another stake, but it was also tough.

Melisse is an extravagant and excellent dining experience. You go to truly enjoy the food at a leisurely pace. The taste profiles are unique and interesting. The portions are smaller. The service is very good.

I've had the 10 course meal before and this was too much food for me. I think they do provide closer service with this experience because there are so many courses. The Dine LA experience was a 4 course meal which might not be quite enough for the hearty eater.

Food was mediocre, not worth the price, did not find anything spectacular about the restaurant that makes up for the disappointment in food. Substantially worse than Providence. Don't think I'll come back again if I were coming for dinner.

Great ambience for a date, but not the place for anyone that's looking to enjoy both the dinner and the time.

We knew we wanted to come here for our wedding anniversary so we made a reservation 3 months in advance. We opted for the 10-course and one of us substituted the prawn for the truffle risotto which was beyond delicious. While we were looking forward to the duck, we were very much pleasantly surprised by the substitution of the rabbit. The most outstanding dish was the egg caviar which I could've easily inhaled a whole dozen. The restaurant has an extensive wine list and a super knowledgeable sommelier so please do not hesitate to ask for recommendations.

I just have a couple of notes to the restaurant on only getting 4 stars for the service and ambiance. The waiters were fantastic and for the most part, the servers were too except when they tried to take the dishes away before we were done and setting up the silverware for the next course while we were still eating. Also, the restaurant specifically states that no flash photography is allowed; unfortunately, the policy was not enforced. We were quite shocked at the number of blinding flashes while people took selfies and the foods. It was distracting and made our dining experience slightly less than stellar. We will, however, be back for future special occasions.

Completely not worth it. We did the 10 courses with wine pairing. The wines didn't elevate the food and food was mediocre. None of the flavors wowed us or made us want more. It was all just okay and for the price tag it was unacceptable. Should have been about $300 meal, not $900.

Food, presentation of the dishes, and everything else were excellent, except the $9 coffee was one of the worst I have had. It was super watery, even the second one was the same after I complained about it. This just ruined the whole dinner for me as all I could taste was the bad coffee as I finished off the meal and walked out of the restaurant.
