This is a neighborhood gem. Awesome food, fresh fish, great wine list and friendly owner and staff.
The cheff took care of us like kings and Queens the food is absolutely amazing ! I even created my own pasta !!!! a la Natalia !
Great clean food, awesome service, and a nice atmosphere. I am definitely going back with more friends
Cute place but lighting makes hard to see others faces. Food tasty but small plates one-note and very price. A side of shrimp is $4 for 2 medium shrimp!
Good food, decent value (for DC), with an emphasis on fresh & healthy ingredients.
We love the food and the service was superb.
I actually love the food here but the last two times I’ve been there, the service was so chaotic and off, it was painful. There was no organization, we had a reservation and waited for an hour, and then the second time the restaurant was only half full on a Tuesday night and we were overlooked and forgotten by our waiter as he catered to the table next to us with eight people. Every customer table should be treated like their special. The owner Frank tries to be nice and I know he means well but he has totallyFallen off his game regarding service. The little later with the dark hair should be retrained or fired. We’re going to avoid going for a while until Frank figures this out.
Friday nights are busy and the room accentuates rather than dampens noise. The food is consistent with high quality fresh ingredients, but i continue to find the vegetarian options a bit bland. Very friendly helpful staff.
Always a pleasure to spend the evening at a genuine neighborhood restaurant run by real people that care about you and the food. They honor the carefully selected sustainable fish and meats with thoughtful preparations that highlights the quality of the food. Thank you for over 25 years of remarkable evenings. Highly recommended.
Excellent food, excellent staff...will definitely be back!!!
This may be our new favorite place for great food and atmosphere. As in so many cases, it starts with an owner on-the-floor, with a clear dedication to a fine dining experience. The standards are high, and they're on the front page of the menu book. Fish, in particular, is a specialty, but everything else hits the same high mark. Very nice wine selection. This place oozes a commitment to real food, served well, and deliciously.
Third time I have been here. Love this place.
This place was one of the most romantic places I’ve ever eaten at. Everything was perfect beyond I could of expected. I’m more then grateful that I found this cute little restaurant
Normally I would give this restaurant five stars and while we love the owner, the freshness of the food etc and the normally good service… Never go on a Saturday night again. The restaurant claimed that many reservations arrived late. They should control that. We came at the correct time and we waited an hour while they seated people that were 30 to 60 minutes late. You’re 60 minutes late, YOU should be the one to wait not the customer who arrives on time. It was chaotic, we had to ask multiple times for basic things like water, silverware,And drinks.
The restaurant needs to manage this or we won’t go back again
Great experience all around!
This was so refreshing, we loved the freshness of the food, the freshness of our happy servers. You won’t be disappointed.
Owner is a total sweetheart but the service was horrendous
Valentines Day dinner with my fiancee
Frank and the team do an outstanding job of making everyone welcome. The food is great and Tye Valentines decorations make MELE a great place to celebrate
This is a neighborhood gem. An Italian restaurant with a good wine list, fresh pasta, fish and other meats. The owner and staff are attentive and knowledgeable and can help navigate the menu. Most items come in both small and entree size plates so the light eater and the full meal person can both get what they want.
Food as always was fresh, well prepared and visually appealing. Love the lively but not noisy atmosphere and the attentive service. Loved the Village Bistro but Mele is a big cut above its predecessor!
I really like this restaurant - food is good and the owner (I think) cares and walk around to talk to customers. But their waiters and waitresses just do not seem care much and appear not interested in doing anything to make customers feel welcome (maybe they hate their job?). With the exception of the owner, I have never seen any of the waiters and waitresses smile.
I would have come here much more often if their waiters and waitresses show some friendliness - they are not unfriendly, but just feel COLD (or maybe they can at least smile from time to time).
We had the swordfish and sea bass. Both were prepared well, but not exceptionally tasty. The portions seemed a bit small, while the cost was expensive - did not seem a very good value for the money.
Love this restaurant and always enjoy sharing the experience with old and new friends
Excellent food and the staff is great, but they needed more servers. Long wait between visits from our server.
Good dining experience. Owner is a gem. Service is slow, & they messed up my drink order twice.
Excellent food, excellent service! Always friendly!
This is a neighborhood jewel!!! Every person at Mele works together for the customer. I appreciate the "small plate "options
Outstanding food and great, and affordable, wine list. Calamari was incredibly tender yet crispy, salads are creative and healthy, and the fish is delicious! And the desserts!!! We will definitely come back, frequently.
It was fabulous from the greeting at the door to the finish. Loved my blackened rockfish--cooked perfectly. Husband said the same about the blue snapper. Loved the bread (a little too much--we couldn't stop). We will be back again soon. Loved the old Village Bistro and this was even better!
We had an awesome New Year's Eve dinner here - the food was so good that I ate my leftovers as soon as I got home! The service was a little slow at times, but to be fair, the restaurant was PACKED. I will definitely be coming back here when I'm craving Italian food.
A wonderful spot in the neighborhood. Friendly with excellent food.
Our recent dinner at Mele Bistro was not our first, and the food has always been great, however each visit since our first has indicated that they are trying very hard to make Mele Bistro an excellent dining experience in every way. The appearance has improved, and I am told that significant new interior improvements are soon to be underway. Additionally, we were impressed with the hard work and effort that went into their holiday decorations. The restaurant was decorated beautifully both indoors and outside... We (four of us) enjoyed every minute of our meal at Mele Bistro. We recommend this restaurant without hesitation to everyone seeking a pleasant dining experience with great food, a warm and comfortable ambiance, excellent service , and reasonable prices. Try it! Mele Bistro may just become your favorite "all-occasion" restaurant...
Everything is perfect and excellent every time!
Mele has excellent cuisine and Frank, the owner, is very affable. We had the veal chop and the duck, both of which were perfectly prepared. The main reason for a lower score overall is the service which tends to be disorganized resulting in long waits at times between courses. We experienced this on prior occasions and this Christmas Day was the same—great food, slow service. We will return because of the food and friendliness while hoping Mele places more attention on improving its service.
Wonderful food, great service and fantastic ambiance for a Christmas dinner. Highly recommend.
The reception was pleasant. The reservation was exactly as requested. Drinks were delivered promptly. Th menu was attractive. Th e food was good. But the noise (music ?) was abominably loud!!
Perfect as always!
