Mele Bistro (formerly Village Bistro)
Convenient and cozy Italian bistro was a perfect pre-event place for a light dinner to fuel the rest of the evening. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was attentive and the meal well-prepared.
Too expensive for what it is, and that alone detracts from the overall value.
Wonderful welcoming restaurant..Varied menu, & owner is so gracious.
As always we had a wonderful experience and a great meal!
Dinner after a family gathering to see the nutcracker.
Always a great place
We really enjoyed our meal! In fact, we loved it so much we had to return our last night of our visit! The service and food were outstanding. Highly recommend. Wish we lived closer.
As always, excellent food and friendly service!! Thank you for a job well done....
Mele Bistro provides Arlington, Virginia with a really fine dining experience mostly due to the owner's determination to offer the finest food and wine available on the market. We sampled a lovely house special soup which rivals Mele's first class French Onion Soup; pumpkin raviolis; two different salads; and, of course the fish and seafood for which the restaurant is well known. We chose a bottle of wine that complemented everything on our plates.
Slow service. Food did not arrive as ordered (wrong things on salad, wrong side dish)
My husband recommended Mele to me to host a dinner with a friend and her daughter who live in NYC. All of us, 3 adults and 3 kids had a great time! The gentleman host was so kind and patient. The kids all enjoyed their pasta with marinara sauce, if they thought of it, I'm sure they would have licked their plate clean!
Everything, we ordered grilled calamari, fried zucchini sticks, chicken parmagiana, grilled bronzini, scallop ravioli, was super fresh and super delicious! Thank you Mele Bistro for a great meal!
Outstanding service and great food. Love going here!!
Visiting from the west coast for several days and (fortunately) discovered Mele! We enjoyed it so much we came back a second night! Food, wine and service were all exceptional on both nights!
Very thin "sliver" of fish for $30, and service very slow despite Not being crowded. Unlikely to return.
Food was moderately good. When we first sat down the bartender, female in a white and black striped shirt came over and brought us water. I asked if they had sparkling water and she snapped at me and said “you’re server will be right with you”. 10 minutes later I had to get up and ask someone if we could order drinks. We had to ask everytime we wanted something to drink. Very rude manager, broad sized invidual. And rude bartender. Also disgusting bathrooms.
made a dinner reservation for 8 pm and showed up at 7:55. After 25 minutes of waiting and never being able to speak to someone about being seated, we left. If you do not honor reservations, just say so.
Wonderful dinner but my husband had to get up twice to find our server who kept disappearing for long periods of time.
Our meal was delicious & we were very impressed with their commitment to homemade, fresh, local, & healthy foods.
We are from NJ and come to Mele every time we are in DC. Last trip we brought friends who also loved it. The food is very good and very farm to table and fresh. The owner is amazing as well as his staff. Everyone works together in a very family style environment. Love it here and will keep coming back.
Every time we go to Mele we feel bad for the servers. They are always understaffed. The servers are running around all the time and we are always waiting for a server to be available to bring our drinks/food/bill. Mele would be perfect if they hire more staff. The service would be much better. They can then let diners leave when they want to rather than having to wait a long time for the bill.
Food and service was very good; nice place! Would recommend.
We had been to the Village Bistro, the predecessor of Mele Bistro, and had read the first page of their new menu, a manifesto to the driving force of the restaurant and its owner. I was duly impressed without viewing one item from the menu. I can only tell you that we were blown away by the meal we chose. I had the best seafood dinner of my long life and my wife was equally effusive of her salad and pasta. We were marking a sad anniversary of the death of a daughter, seven years before, and we were cheered by our meal to no end. I have been involved in the food business; in fine dining management and food and wine importing for a good part of my life and have dined far and wide. My friends will tell you that a dinner at my house is a special occasion and I will accept that accolade, from a three-year-old our daughter loved to help and eat. What better way to honor her memory than sharing a meal that might not have come from my kitchen. My hat is off to the owner and his kitchen.
Welcomed at the door and had the choice of where to sit. Service was immediate and extremely good. Numerous selections on the menu were fully explained which helped make entree decisions. Everyone in our party was extremely pleased with their food. We’re going back soon!
Food was very good..bread was great with oil and herbs. Servers seemed a little overwhelmed at times.
Delicious food, however the “risotto” served with their duck was more like a rice dish. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who definitely had the hospitality spirit. Sadly though, they were very busy and understaffed so service was severely lacking.
The food was excellent and there were so many choices. A large variety of fish which you could get in a large or small portion. I wish more restaurants would do that. Service was great and the ambiance was nice. Easy to have a conversation.
We love Mele! Our go-to whenever friends visit as it is unique, accommodates every palate and dietary preference. Best fish anywhere at any price and their prices are very moderate, while the quality is reliably excellent every time. I marvel at how they achieve this given how big their menu is!
Cute bistro with over the top Italian fare...
The food was great.
Best NOVA neighborhood gem for fresh seafood. I have not been disappointed each time.
All of our food was delicious.... from the Fresh Bread with Olive Oil, Fried Calamari, entries, to the Chocolate Cheesecake
As always the evening at Mele is a good choice. Excellent food, good atmosphere, & the owner is wonderful. However the last two times we have eaten there our server has not been good. Very slow, leaves guests unattended. Had to stop him twice to ask for assistance in placing an order. They can do better.
Mele Bistro, we have found over the past three years, can be relied upon for fresh ingredients -- especially fish! -- creatively and well prepared; warm and attentive service; and a pleasant setting, whether indoors or out. Manager Frank and his team are hospitality professionals. Their menu has great variety -- especially fish! -- and the selections are fairly priced for what you get. The house bread is some of the best in Arlington; the warm olive appetizer is a special treat; and all the desserts are worth trying.
One of our favorite restaurants with great food, friendly service, and the ambiance where you can actually have a conversation without raising your voice.
Wonderful meal with business colleagues. Waiter was conscientious & pleasant. I will be back!
Carlos was our server...great! Met the owner, Frank. Nice guy. This was our first time to Mele. Website got our attention. It’s on our A-list and we’ll go back!
Always superb! Great service and great cuisine! I had a grand time dining with my best friends!
Always great fish
Love their menu which allows you to choose regular sized or smaller-sized versions of many of their dishes. They offer an excellent selection of fish with many different preparations.
