Maybe we were lucky that it was a quiet Sunday night with only a few other patrons? Not sure but it was so pleasant, quiet and relaxing. I noticed TVs bu they were not on. The food was plentiful and delicious! Our waitress was great at recommending dishes...we knew it was BYOB ($7.00 cork fee) so we brought wine, HOWEVER their SANGRIA was so good, we didn't open our bottle of wine! Will go there again.
Delicious with amazing wait staff
We came here for a birthday and ad a lot of fun. The tapas menu was plenty for our group and the sangria was delicious. Will definitely be back!
Awesome food!!! Very friendly and the best service. Everything on the menu is great and our entire party enjoyed. Definitely will go back!
My wife is from Colombia and we're always interested in finding a new Colombian restaurant for "comfort food"...Melao was awesome! Small place, great authentic food, and a friendly staff...we'll be back!
Had a wonderful time at Melao! The food was delicious and the live music was great! Would definitely recommend. Worth the hour drive.
Food and staff were wonderful; sangria could use more rum...
Great attentive service. Fabulous skirt steak, can't wait to go back.
Service was good. The evening ambience was very romantic with bolwros and tangos sang live by the very talented Diana Mosquera. The only down side was we waited more than an hour for our food. But when it was there it was amazing! I super recommend the bandeja paisa!
This is a BYOB with Colombian cuisine. We went on an arctic, Chiberia evening. It was quiet, but busy. Lovely Empanadas and Arepas and fried Yucca for appetizer. The Chicken soup was huge ( you could share it) and the Parrilladas were delicious. We brought a nice bottle of red wine and it was a perfect paring to the lovely meal. I loved my Flan de Cafe for my Birthday treat.
We went on a Friday night at 8:00. The place was empty, this should have been our first clue. The service was not good, we waited for a while before we were served any water and before they opened the wine. After taking our order, and bringing the food, they never checked back. Since there were only one or two other tables, they could not have been too busy.
The food was mediocre. The meat was too thin, too much beans used as a filler, sausage overcooked.
After dinner, we were visiting and they turned up the lights and made it clear that they wanted us to leave.
I wouldn't go back.
This was possibly the worst meal I have ever had. Has the restaurant changed hands?
Great food served fresh and hot - one of our party had a shrimp dish with a very ample serving of medium sized shrimp. Arroz con pollo had huge chunks of chicken. Only complaint - not enough plantains on the side! Next time will order an extra side.
Colombian cuisine: unique, tasty, plentiful. The atmosphere is more like a diner than a restaurant; tables, settings and presentations are very functional. It's also BYOB. But the food itself is a delight, very unusual (I would guess, for someone who's not been to Colombia). All-in-all, an experience worth repeating.
Melao is the best. I cannot believe the restaurant is empty, the food is fantastic. The flavors are wonderful and it is a nice place to catch up with friends. I recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced dining experience wanting to WOW your taste buds
Loved Melao. Started with plantain balls, chorizo, fried plantain and an empanada. Got the pork plate, steak and chicken and the flank steak. Fantastic flavors and be sure not to miss out on the onion and tomato house sauce!! I could not believe there were not more diners in there Saturday night. This place is a hidden gem. I cannot wait to go back! Service was excellent. I really enjoy Latin food.
Had a delicious and very filling meal at Melao Latin. Servers were very attentive and service was quick. Loved that they played Spanish music! Place is small, so get in there quick. It's also BYOB!
Came here for an early NYE dinner (they were closing at 8pm). Brought our own champagne as it's BYOB and enjoyed a delicious meal. The picture window allowed for a nice view of the snow falling outside on Lincoln Ave.
Very nice little restaurant. Not fancy, but interesting and good food at an extremely reasonable price. The empanada appetizers were particularly nice. Three of us ate there the other night; two of us split a dish with plenty of food and out the door for $30!
Excellent Latin cuisine...BYOB a plus - excellent prices!
Really delicious food - churrasco, arepas, empanadas. And all at great prices! Perfect for lunch or just easy dinner night. Unfortunately we were the only ones dining, so ambiance was quiet. But it's still a beautiful and warm restaurant!
Great friendly Colombian neighborhood BYOB. Grear for groups (we had 8). Will be back.
This was my second visit to the restaurant and I loved it. The food is outstanding - I had the big steak and it was delish! The staff is super friendly and the ambience was fun.
Tasty food. Quick and attentive service.
