Great as always. Took friends who had never been, for brunch. They were very pleased. Next time, back for happy hour.
It was delicious and very reasonably priced
We love this place but there was a wedding going on across the way. Really loud music. We know this is not the restaurants fault but it is an issue FYI. Not sure that they can do anything about it however. Beautiful setting and wonderful staff and food!
The food was truly amazing!!
It was a beautiful night for dinner in the patio overlooking the lake, fountain, and evening lights. The mushroom tart was delicious, as was our split plate of pork chop. The lettuce was a bit tough on our wedge salad, but toppings were delectable. Wine is moderately priced by the glass, and selection decent. It took longer than usual to get a waiter to the table for water and drink orders, but once past that hurdle, service was great.
Windy day so we were unable to sit outside, therefore inside was noisier than usual.
Food was excellent, service a little slow.
We brought 4 new people with us and they loved it and will be back!
Made reservation several days in advance. Upon arrival we were seated right away and given menus, then moved a short distance to a table in the warm sunlight. Waited 10 minutes before receiving our water. (Considering the place was less than half full, this was a surprise). The glasses were dirty and the waiter apologized and brought new ones. Another wait, only to find the menu item (blueberry waffles) my husband wanted was not available. We ordered the lemon cocoanut pancakes and the shrimp omelette, which were very good. While the meal was good and the scenery nice, it’s a long way to drive for the experience.....
Arrived a few minutes before our 7:30 reservation. Manager walked right by us. In 10 minutes we asked a waiter how we could get to our table. Seated and got our beverage order in. Salads took a long time and our diner had not been served by 9:10 so we left. Love the ambiance and dinner in past years but the lack of timely dining experience will kill them. We’ll never be back till we see at least a mediocre review on TripAdvisor. Jeff and friends
I had the halibut I did not think it was that great. My husband had the chicken piccata with mashed potatoes which had no seasoning and the chicken piccata it was dry.
We love going to this restaurant for lunch. The view and ambiance is great. However, had this been our first time at this restaurant, we wouldn’t go back. Very confused wait staff, slow service and food was not provided as we ordered. It was a mess!☹️
We are willing to give it another try. Hope this was a fluke!
MELANGE is a great place to dine.
With beautiful lake views. It can't be beat.
For the 1st time ever tho. I was disappointed that a gratis Birthday cake or dessert wasn't offered to our Birthday celebrant.
In fact, we weren't offered a dessert menu at all.
Really delicious food at Melange! First we were seated by the fireplace outside on the patio. Perfect! Then the bartender made me a custom cucumber, mint, club soda drink that was bubbly and tasty. My friend and I ordered the asparagus appetizer with crispy breaded shallots and creamy dip and it was fantastic. She had a Ceasar salad (which they made with romaine instead of kale - not a problem) and I had the wild caught salmon with mushrooms and leeks and it was divine. The service was impeccable and the food made for a very wonderful evening!
The service was painfully slow. It took over an hour to get our food after order was placed. The halibut was average and short ribs were cold. The ambiance was great but not enough to make up for poor service and cold food.
It took a long time to get served our food, but once it arrived, it was very good.
Beautiful place to relax and watch the world go by.
The food and server were great. The kitchen was a little slow due to a large party, but they did give us a heads up about it when we came in, which was greatly appreciated.
The setting is beautiful. The food was very good. The service was awful. The restaurant acknowledged the poor service, apologized, and compensated us.
Food was extremely slow and was cold when we got it
We decided to try this restaurant "one more time" after having very poor service the previous time we ate dinner there with friends. Hard to imagine but the service was worse than we remembered. But worst of all, the manager is completely ill equipped to deal with managing a restaurant. He was not interested in any feedback at all about the issues we faced as customers/diners at his place of work. One of the worst exchanges we have ever had with a manager in a position of authority. We will never be back, and ironically we mentioned our experience to some friends here in La Quinta, and they laughed, saying that our experience is the norm.
This restaurant has disappointed us in the past and last nights dinner was the final straw. We will NEVER go back. The setting is beautiful but the service is horrible. The wait staff is courteous but not attentive and very slow. We had to ask for more water and wine! We waited our 40 minutes for our salads and had to ask where was our food. Then had to wait another 26 minutes before our entire was served. Thank goodness the food was good. Not delicious just food. Throughout the evening we noticed a gentleman counting something and taking notes on a clip board. Come to find out he was the manage. A good manage would have taken the time to walk around the restaurant and make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. He never approached any of the tables out on the patio. Apparently he is more concerned with counting light bulbs then satisfy costumers. The restaurant did give us a 10% discount for the inconvenience but still didn’t make up for the delays in service. While walking out to the parking lot we started chatting with another customer and she too said they were very disappointed in their meal and would never return. They just lost six customers in one evening. Nice job!
Lovely place - and wonderful service with a nice mix of lunch offerings.
was our first-time visit, sitting outside was very nice, it was cold and windy they were very attentive to making us comfortable by turn on the heater. I ordered the French Toast, it looked really good, however, it was cold, soft butter was piled on top, had not melted at all. you would think the kitchen would notice, butter not melting on toast. toast not hot. I scraped the cold butter off and ate 1/4 of the toast and blueberries and walnuts. It was tasty, had it been hot would have been great. my husband had the standard eggs benedict, they were warm and good he said. The service was very good. the outside singer they had for Sunday 'Brunch was also very good. We will give them another try.
Have frequently dine at this restaurant. We are full time desert residents. Usually love our dinning experience. However, tonight was the exception- we were 5 people sitting inside the virtually empty dinning room- only 1 other table of 4 dining inside. The outside tables were occupied. We had a reservation at 7- sat immediately, took our drink order and then we waited!!. No bread was even offered until I flagged our absent server down. We waited over 1 1/2 hours until we received our dinner. Finally, Robin (manager?) came over and told us that our food was being plated. Again, we waited with no explanations from anyone. Unfortunately, It was a total bust- very disappointing.
This was a very special Valentines dinner which was really spoiled first of all by a very inappropriate call from the manager Robin a couple of days prior almost discouraging us as we had requested a table outside by the water at 8pm (she said they were very busy and probably couldn’t satisfy the request) and then in addition asked me why I had not looked at the web site since my open table reservation notes indicated we were both vegetarian!! and the menu was set with no veggie dish! After another call it was decided we would come later at 8:15 so less busy and the chef offered to do one veggie option dish.
Last night arrived prompt at 8:15 waited for 30 mins for drinks and almost 90 mins for the entree which was simply “awful” and hard to describe. The manager was there but not interacting with customers and just sitting at the bar chatting with her staff.
It is a real shame that such a beautiful restaurant with world class potential is being so poorly run 🤣 We do not plan to return!!
The service was so bad we left before eating. We had a reservation but had to wait an hour before being seated and other patrons around us had been waiting forever for their food.
We went there for Valentines Day. They were understaffed both in the kitchen and out front. From the time we sat down to the time we had our entrees, it was way over an hour. Our server didn’t have time to ask if we wanted another cocktail or to fill our water glasses. My wife’s chicken was ok, but my fish was burnt. The 2 couples sitting next to us waited an hour to be seated and yes they had a reservation. It was an Epic Failure!!
Unknown to either of us prior to my finding online while searching for a Valentine’s Day dinner, we had a wonderful time enjoying the fireplace, the lakeside views, and delicious dinner. We can’t wait to return with friends very soon.
Awesome - food, service and venue!
Excellent service and lake view.
Always a pleasure to return to Melange each winter. Excellent food, service, and meeting the nicest guests and other diners.
Beautiful view! We have been here maybe 5 times and it is hit and miss. I have had great meals and very average meals. The service has always been slow.
The most romantic restaurant in Southern California........food, service, ambiance beyond compare❣️
I would recommend larger portions we ordered the beet salad and it was tiny.
Beautiful location. Great food.
My friend and I found the turkey sandwich, though very delicious, very hard to eat, even with just the two slices of bread. It would have been easier if the cheese had been sliced thinner and that the sandwich was cut into 4 wedges instead of two halves.
Frenchfries were delicious.....were they air fried??
I'm planning my guest list for our next visit. We dined late night over looking the glistening lake as the lights bounced of the ripples of water. We sat nest to a beautiful firepit keeping us very toasty. Every dish of food we ordered was not only beautiful to look at but so savory, while being cooked to perfection. Make this your next dining experience today.
Always excellent - great food - terrific waiters
Best ambiance and location yet. What a beautiful patio with firepits and warmers, sitting right on the lake. Wish we had gotten there earlier than 615 to see it better. Started with the dates and beets, both very delicious. Prawns and Scallops entree was good but Halibut was awful. It was old, dry, and it smelled. I actually even smelled it when it was delivered to the table next to me. Fresh fish should not smell. I hardly ate any of it and the plate was picked up with most of it on there. No one asked how our meal was. I would probably go back but not order an entree.
we had a wonderful evening overlooking the water and heated by firepits and heat lamps.
We all enjoyed our meals and we had a great waiter. Look forward to going back.
Wonderful birthday lunch at Mélange. Pretty view of Lake LaQuinta, a hidden gem. Food good & large portion. Service excellent.
