We went to Mehndi to celebrate my wife's birthday and we really loved the food there. This is not the first time we've been there, though, and we have always had a great experience. The hostess was gracious enough to bring a surprise birthday treat for the birthday girl. The food, service, and ambience were all top-notch!!
The smell when you walk in will awaken your senses! The restaurant is pretty small but the food was excellent. Five of us had drinks, appetizers & a variety of dishes + Biryani & dessert for $250 + tip. I love Indian food but my husband is not a fan so I went with work colleagues...
Great lunch buffet, food was delicious. Place was quiet and service attentive. Will definitely be back again!
Lunch buffet was mediocre at best.
We have been many times and will return because the food is so good. A horrendously OFF night on the service however.... really impacted the evening.
Excelente food as usual!
Love this place!
Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, excellent service! We were there on Sunday. Courteous hostess seated us immediately. It was very busy for a Sunday. We loved everything! We’ll be back soon
It was our first time here and it did not disappoint. Service and food were both excellent as well as the wine selections. Park in the hotel garage and they validate your ticket for 3 hours.
The food, as always, was exceptional. However, we were eating our meal for 3 HOURS! The service was slow, and I got the wrong entree delivered TWICE! We love Mendhi for its delicious and generously-proportioned food (always a little to enjoy the next day). But we hope & expect that the service is better in the future.
The lunch buffet was yummy. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were repeatedly asked if we had a reservation before we were allowed to enter the restaurant. By the time we left only four other people were in the restaurant. We were shown to a table and left to sit there a bit. I had to get up and ask for help. Only after we completed our meal did I notice a separate table across from the buffet with appetizers, salads, and condiments which was part of the buffet. The lack of communication, how we were greeted was all forgiven because the food was pretty good. The staff lightened up as we were leaving. Finally, I briefly saw somewhere on the website the restaurant would validate parking. We had to ask and wait a bit for someone to help us with this but they did give us a discount on the parking.
Nice evening meal with family. We enjoyed the dishes from the restaurant. The cool part is that at 7p, they have a lady who does henna tattoos. The kids were super excited to join in.
Great food and service at a good price. You have to experience
We have not dined at Mehndi for many years, although we do enjoy Indian food quite often and have a favorite restaurant. Mehndi is in a grand space, but that is as far as we were impressed. The food was just okay and certainly not worth triple the price of the excellent Indian cuisine we are used to. Our server was very good, however the food service was very slow. Thankfully, our parking ticket was validated for 3 hours. Perhaps the lag is a ploy to encourage purchasing more drinks. In a nut shell, we would not return.
Mehndi never disappoints. I have eaten here probably a dozen times and have not had one unpleasant experience. The food is phenomenal and the staff is great. We usually get a henna tattoo when we visit but not tonight for some reason. We were busy enjoying fabulous food and conversation. 💕💕💕
We went to this restaurant for our anniversary. The decor is lovely, and the servers are very attentive. The food was OK. We wanted a sampler platter for an appetizer, but they were all out of it. This was pretty hard to believe, since the place was practically empty! The server suggested something else that turned out to be chips and salsa. They were tasty, but not exactly what I had in mind and the cost was pretty high for chips! The food was pretty good. My husband had a chicken dish, which was very good. I had something with spinach and cottage cheese which was good, but I have had better. All in all, it was a nice night out, but there are better Indian restaurants in the area.
Food was delicious! We love Indian food and this was great. We came on New Year's Eve and was planning on attending First Night which is seeing events on New Year's Eve so we were hoping for a warm start to the night and their heat was not working! Unfortunate and they should have offered something to compensate for the cold dining experience-- gave us 10% after asking. Will definitely be back.
Great food - for some reason heating was not working and was a bit chilly inside
Fantastic food. We tried multiple entrees and all were great (Chicken and vegetarian)
SAM IS OUR FAVORITE WAITER!!! He’s attentive, always smiling and welcoming
You can always rely on authentic, tasty Indian food at Mehndi. We grabbed dinner with the family before a movie this week and everyone enjoyed their meals, even the picky teenager. If everyone orders their own meals, you will definitely walk away with leftovers. Everything was still great for lunch the next day! I can't begin to know how to pronounce or spell half the meals we had, but the lamb (in any dish) is always cooked perfectly and oh so tasty. The shrimp appetizer was new for us and really delicious. You can't go wrong. The only warning is that many dishes are spicy which not everyone likes. You should ask your server for suggestions.
I ate at Mehdi a number of times but it was my first lunch bufet experience and this time Mehndi did not measure up. Food was good as always and many good choices. But service was nonexistent, noone told us that bufet was the only option, noone even asked for our drink choices. And then they added 18% service charge to our bill. There were only 4 people in my group, so I did not expect an automatic service charge. And the waiter who brought the check never mentioned it. That was sleazy.
The service was very poor.
The wait time to order was very long.
Appetizers were top notch, especially enjoyed the minced lamb. Dinners were better than the appetizers...best of 5 shared dishes was the Chicken Tiki Masala. Don't be afraid to ask for the curry spicy...it was very flavorful, but not at all hot. Really great dining experience, my only complaint was that the restaurant was cold.
Delicious food, extremely friendly and attentive staff. Saturday night henna hand painting was a fun treat for my daughter - artist is very talented! Will definitely go back.
Having lived in Morristown for a few years now, we have been meaning to eat at this Indian restaurant for quite some time! My boyfriend and I had ordered takeout before which was definitely good, but it is SO much better dining in. Our service was excellent as our server always made sure we were content with our meals and drinks. He also made great selections as some of us at the table had never ordered Indian food before. The food was great! Our appetizers were delicious and everyone was very happy with their main meal. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again especially when guests come into town. The ONLY negative of this restaurant is the location, it is inside a giant hotel, which takes away from the quaint experience of Morristown - but that will not prevent us from continuing to eat here!
Great Experience! It's upscale and classy! Everything we ordered was delicious and reflected the quality of ingredients. We were impressed with their wine list, It was not overwhelmingly huge but a great selection of wines from all over the world at very reasonable price! Their cocktail list looked impressive too but we were in mood for wine. What can be better than passionately cooked dinner paired with delicious wine in a nice upscale environment? Our server was great and offered to decant our Barolo ! It was one of the best Borolo I ever had in any restaurant and priced at only $ 69 or $ 70 I guess ! I have been to many restaurants owned by big name Chefs but the taste and quality of everything we enjoyed at Mehndi was the best! There was Henna artist also. We went there on Saturday so It was super busy. We had reservation so we were okay but some people were told that there was 1 or 2 hour wait . Next time we'll go on a weekday for a more relaxed dinner. Overall Excellent!!!
Great food and always good to see many fellow diners from that ethnic community. If Indians are eating there, that’s the ultimate stamp of approval to us.
Food was excellent. Unfortunately, unable to serve hot beverages the evening I went and wanted tea. Could not hear what waiter was saying about not having tea so I was very confused and frustrated about wanting a simple cup of hot tea. The food was so good that I overcame my emotion of not getting tea. Yes, it was that good.
I hadn't been to Mehndi in awhile and forgot how good it was. The food is genuine and delicious, we had a wonderful waitress, the large dining area is very architecturally pleasing and the hostess is a delight. Definitely try this one.
Waiters are so great with a large group giving suggestions!!
2nd time and did not disappoint. I’ll be back with a bigger group so we can try more dishes.
Mehndi is consistently good: very professional service, large menu, delicious food every time. The ambiance is very nice and we appreciate that even when full, the noise level does not impede conversation.
Good food options with vegetarian options. Service is ok.
Great food but the only Indian restaurant that makes you pay for rice with every dish.
Love this place! Have always enjoyed Indian food and the wait staff are helpful in making good selections from a great menu. Try to go here at least every f couple of months!
Curries were good. Do not recommend aloo paratha--dry, slightly burned and if there was any potato in it, it was undetectable.
Food was outstanding, and everyone on staff was professional and helpful. We had a wonderful meal!
Went to Mehndi for dinner last night. We had the Paneer with the tomato base, Mergh chicken, Saffron rice and butter Naan. Everything was delicious. My wife got a henna tattoo while we waited for our meal. Dessert was also very good. I had the Kulfi ice cream and my wife had the Gulab Jamun.
I think we might have been over-charged. For four glasses of wine it came to 70.00.
Nice place, delicious food, but too expensive.
