Best Indian food I’ve had outside of Manhattan. Service is excellent!
Service was horrible. We had to wait for over 30 mins to order.
Love it here!
The food was good though the biriyani was very dry. There were small children crying/screaming throughout the entire time that I was there.
Excellent, creative food and extraordinarily good service. Loved the lamb vindaloo.
If you like Indian food, this is the place to go for non-Indians and I guess if I were Indian, then for them as well.
Great Indian restaurant where one can great tasty, authentic Indian food. The service was a little slow but I am going to give it a pass because it was Valentine's Day and it was crowded. Someone even came to our table to validate our parking for us so that was one less thing I needed to worry about on our night out
The food and the service were excellent.
Great food - that has not changed.
The service was thoughtless ... and unusual for this restaurant. Second time it has happened that way - like they just aren't paying the kind of attention that they used to. Too long to get drinks, order incorrect, staff seemed disorganized ....
We were only three at the table and they recently started adding an 18% service charge automatically, with no notification, and were very dismissive when we inquired about it.
All of this definitely tainted our recent experience.
The menu seems to have changed from last year and seems more interesting. Many excellent options, not all the usuals for suburban Indian. Everything was delicious though watch out for the spice. If you like things mild be very clear about it! Even dishes that aren't normally spicy were too much for us. Very friendly and efficient service though not rushed.
Love this restaurant. Great Indian food and if you aren't familiar with the various dishes, the staff is happy to explain how everything is prepared. Amazing cocktails as well.
Went by with a friend for dinner. Decor was beautiful. We ordered the chicken tikka, pappadum, samosas, paneer mehndi and I had a pineapple and cracked pepper cocktail. The cocktail was a unique blend and delicious! Paneer and chicken were good but could have used more chicken/ paneer with all the sauce. Pappadum was served with delicious tomato mix. Overall a great dining experience. A little pricey for the amount of food you actually get
A Morristown gem, tucked away. Spend the time to seek it out. Have eaten in many fine NYC Indian restaurants and this one matches, or even exceeds the quality of those big city restaurants.
Wonderful wine selection !
Delicious Indian food, good service and very nice decor.
It was delicious. The only one issue was that management needs to tell their waitstaff to tell customers that the tip is included . We had only 4 people and almost double tipped due to the fact that the waiter didn't tell us service fee was included. We would have tipped 20% not 18% but please inform your staff to tell your customers. Very rude but food amazing and love the restaurant.
This is our go to for date nights or as a pre-movie dinner location. They have the BEST DRINK MENU EVER. Hands down this is the place to get cocktails in the Morristown area and beyond. They share a bar (called SM23) with Ming II, a fancy Chinese restaurant which is also delicious. The food is OUTSTANDING. Highly recommend the garlic naan, biryani, and anything with paneer in it. My favorite entree is this rich pistachio and lamb gravy called Gosht Pistawala. It's been removed from the menu, but the chef will often still prepare it for me if I ask. This is another thing I love about this place- they are very accommodating to everyone's needs and will tailor the flavors if anyone has any issues (like how my young child wanted daal and so they made it less spicy).
Some additional bonuses:
-Parking is validated up to 4 hours so dinner and a movie at AMC Headquarters 10 is doable
-They have a mehndi artist on the weekends who provides complimentary henna designs (I recommend providing a tip, because she's wonderful! I got mehndi in India from an expert and this was just as professional and lasted quite awhile)
-You can theoretically order from Ming II's menu if it isn't too busy since they share a bar and kitchen
-Part of the cocktail menu changes seasonably so there's a lot of variety throughout the year
Seriously.... best drinks I've had anywhere. They're amazing. Just go. You'll love it.
Mehndi was recommended to us by someone who said it was one of the most authentic Indian restaurants in the area. The food was not overly spiced but very flavorful. The portions were most generous and the service was attentive. Their cocktail list was very interesting and what we sampled was very good. We particularly liked the idea of being able to order small plates although we only accidentally stumbled upon the menu which was tucked in after the cocktail list. We now know for next time?
Atmosphere felt laid back but customers were so loud it was distracting while eating and visiting with friends. Was hoping to have a nice evening out enjoying cocktails and good food with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. The variety of food on the menu was nice.
Perfect in every way if you know your Indian food.
I having been a frequent guest at Ming/Mehndi/SM23. They have consistently provided delicious variety of drinks and food. Not today! The waiter, who thought it was best to try and remember our order, messed up. The spice meant for my wife's food was in mine. My food was inedible to me and my wife's fell flat because it lacked flavor. It was brought to our server's attention and he simply smirked. Honestly, we both felt my food should have been taken off the bill. Had he checked in on us, there was a chance my meal could have been prepared properly. However my wife was basically done with her meal before he came back. A failure in my eyes. I am hesitant to return to Mehndi and even more so to recommend to friends who seek good Asian cuisine.
Went with a group for a buffet lunch. Service was horrible. Drinks were wrong and never corrected. We were 7 people so the tip was automatically added at the same percentage as a full service dinner, which is high given patrons get their own food. I regret not complaining at the time.
Also, signs about the food should be more explicit. Many in our group were experiencing Indian food for the first time and no staff were around to describe the dishes. Didn’t even say if a dish was spicy or not. Food quality was good as it typically is at this restaurant.
Mehndi in Morristown is an A+ restaurant in my book.
The food at Mehndi is always amazing!!! Paired with brilliant crafted cocktails from their adjoining bar, SM23, it made the perfect birthday feast!
The food was wonderful, and the cocktail menu was very interesting. The service was efficient, but a bit offputting.
The high quality of the food does not outweigh the awkward server, slow, slow, slow service, and odd location. This was my first and only visit.
Food amazing as always.
For for foodies
Will go back again
Other than the lively bar scene on the other side of the wall, it was a great meal. The food was delicious, the cocktails were inventive and delightful, and the service and ambiance were both special.
Fantastic Indian cuisine
We always enjoy this place. Love the food and the staff is very attentive. It’s beautifully decorated. My one suggestion would be that they spread the customers out and little more evenly. Generally, we dine there in the early evening, when it is not full. Despite this we find that we are always seated next to other groups, even though there are many open tables elsewhere
Amazing authentic indian food with good drinks.
Went to Mehndi with girlfriends for dinner. I love meeting here. Wait staff is always friendly but never rushes you. Great cocktails and food. We moved next door into the bar and had a final drink as well. It's never loud but never quiet so perfect for some great conversation along with bawdy laughs! This will continue to be a spot we visit!
Went for farewell to my colleague with team of 7 people on weekdays. The food was good but variety was not there in starters in desert. Just 1 veg (Samosa) and 1 Non-Veg Starter. Main course had 3 Veg (Palak Paneer, Mix veg and Kofta dish) along with Dal and 2 Non-Veg items Along with Veg rice.. Desert just had 1 option.
I feel they really need to increase some starter and desert options.
Overall the atmosphere and sitting was quite good and comfortable. Coming to the costing, its on the higher side compared to other Indian restaurants nearby. Around 18 dollars per person including Service Charge.
They validate your parking ticket so you save money on parking.
Excellent food and excellent service.
My wife and I dined at Mendhi on Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was spectacular - beautifully balanced spices and flavors. Service was very attentive. Portion sizes were generous enough to warrant bringing leftovers home. Only mistake was the Chili Margerita which nearly blew my head off!
We loved it! Great food, great service and a really nice atmosphere.
Your ticket was supposed to be validated but it wasn’t. We ended up having to pay five dollars.
Have been using this place for years - its normally very good and was no exception this visit.
My only request would be for Lamb Madras.
Good restaurant with tasty food as well as good service
Mendhi is one of our favs, and this time it did not disappoint. Flavors are rich and deep. Our highlight this visit was our waiter, Kumar, who was good-natured and helpful with my parents-in-law who were skeptical first-time Indian food patrons. They were convinced! Every dish was delicious; he Tandoori sampler is spectacular & all the little condiments, from the appetizers to the meal, are also a highlight.
