Megalos Ratings and Reviews
We made a reservation as we were in Kingston for a concert. I was a bit worried as all places were booked up but this one. I’m glad we did! Even though it was super busy the food was excellent and served promptly and the waitress we had was great. Everyone seemed very happy! I would recommend them 100% and we will return next visit to Kingston.
My three guests enjoyed their salmon and gnocchi entrees but my cheery apple chicken was overdone. Service was very slow and it look almost 40 minutes for our food to arrive.
We went to Megalos for my birthday celebration on the recommendation of a friend who had dined there previously but i was disappointed.
I am not sure i would recommend the restaurant.
I took my Mother and Sister there as they had driven to Kingston that morning to visit me for the weekend. The service was timely and friendly (which is honestly rare these days) and the overall atmosphere was comfortable and intimate for conversation. My sister and I ordered Bellini’s and although they did taste good, they are difficult to sip as the ice was not blended well which left large chunks of ice stuck in the end of the straw. The food was delicious with a good selection of vegetarian options (we are vegetarians). Overall, the night was a success and we will definitely be coming back in the future!
The waitress was cheerful and helpful. The appetizer (mushroom bruschetta) was not hot enough but tasty. The steak was very tough and the mashed potatoes were not hot enough. The sauce on the meat congealed rapidly. Overall it was a disappointing experience.
Brunch menu is fabulous on Saturdays and Sundays. Exquisitely prepared dishes and such amazing, delicious choices! Very highly recommended if visiting Kingston, Ontario. Conveniently located downtown on Princess Street, short walking distance from all hotels.
We were very disappointed in the food - the food was mediocre at best. We read reviews of others who have eaten at this restaurant and expected better - especially given the price we paid. The service was terrific but the food was not! We won't be back.
I booked this restaurant on the road but since we were running 15mins late, I called to tell them and it was no problems at all. It was for a casual birthday dinner and they had gotten my note (which I reconfirmed over the phone) about something to mark the occasion which they were more than happy to accommodate. Birthday girl was completely taken by surprise and very delighted by the HAPPY BIRTHDAY music and donut with ice cream and candle.
The food servings were very good without being ridiculous. They didn't skimp on ingredients as they do in some places and all the dishes we got were flavoursome, (even if they were carb & grain heavy and thus not suited to some modern healthy diets). I enjoyed the freshly grinded pepper and parmesan too.
The staff were really friendly and welcoming; the hostess held the door open for us as we left and everyone said, "Happy Birthday." Great friendly customer service at this place!!!
Definitely recommended if you want Italian food in a casual setting!
a bunch of friends getting together for a nice dinner before going to a show at the Grand Theatre. The food was great, the waitress excellent and she made sure that all were pleased and the bill was all taken care of before our going to the show. We all decided the next time we do a night out at a show or event we will definitely go to Megalo's again. Applause. A job well done!
Great place, with good food and friendly service. Went for my birthday (which is on Valentine's Day) and was surprised by the interruption in the quiet atmosphere for a birthday song and a free birthday donut with a candle! All in all a great evening <3 Thanks Megalos
Service was fantastic as was my Lavender Lemonade. However, the food was very disappointing. Generally it was lacking in flavour. I choose that restaurant because the appetizers looked so interesting. We were extremely disappointed. The Cranberry Brie dish was stingy with the cranberries and very tasteless. Why would you have a crust on the brie and serve with bread? Spring Rolls - wasabi dipping sauce was inedible it was so hot and my husband really enjoys spices. Beet salad - boring, it needed more flavoring such as more balsamic vinegar and goat cheese. And the mango shrimp were OK, but a mango chutney would have given it more punch than the sauce provided. It was a disappointing evening and we won't be returning.
This is our go-to place for dinner before a show at the Grand Theatre. So convenient. We can park the car, have dinner, then go next door for the show and leave our coats in the car, even in the middle of a blizzard. Elia the owner is personable and accommodating. The high back on the booths allow for quiet conversation and privacy. I bypassed Elia's Favourite pizza this time to try the chicken club with fries and apple slaw. The slaw was okay but not outstanding but the rest was great. The Chicken Brie and Strawberry salad was very good with a nice light strawberry balsamic vinaigrette reduction. Will be back.
