Medium Rare - Capitol Hill Ratings and Reviews
Eggs were so raw that even the biggest runny egg lover at our table couldn't stomach his, and it took too long to replace them since we couldn't get our waiter's attention. In fact the waiter completely ignored us even though the place was pretty empty for 80% of our meal. We paid for bottomless drinks but were only given 2 in 2 hours. We only got our second drink because I embarrassingly flagged down a guy who was busing tables. I'll give ambiance points for their cute holiday decorations, but that's it.
Great food and value. However, the steak is inconsistently cooked. Wife’s medium looked exactly like my medium rare. Also, on the 2nd serving, it all came out well done and tough.
One other complaint is the noise level. This could just be me, but I find it very difficult to speak over the music. Maybe I am just old and boring.
Overall, though, great value and fantastic gravy for the steak and fries.
The place was great, I recommend you reserve a table. The best thing was that our waiter didn't tell plus we are going to get SECONDS. The second plate of meat and fries is a great idea. The steak was exactly as medium rare as I like it. The carrot cake was also very good. The music could be less loud.
Food was delicious and it's a fun concept, but the wait staff rushed us through our meal so fast it almost made me feel sick. We received bread immediately, then salad a minute later. After three bites of salad our entree arrived, and it was very clear that they were trying to rush us out so they could turn over the table. We weren't even halfway finished with our entree when they dumped our second portion on top of the first. This completely took away from the dining experience and the nice date night.
Been there a number of times. This trip had a Manhattan. Was told by bartender they are made with dry vermouth and no bitters. I switched to wine. Meat tough. Seconds very salty. Server was great. So was guy who brought food. The food just did not cut it this eve. We will return tho.
I've been here for dinner, and the food and service was good. Remembering this, I booked a table for four for brunch. It's a fixed menu, with your choice of starter, and entree. Everyone elected to get the steak & eggs. The steak was cooked well, however, everyone's poached egg was barely cooked. We did not eat it. When mentioned, we were told that that is how a poached egg looks. The server clearly never cooked eggs before.
We also got the bottomless mimosas. The first refill we did not have to ask for. The second refill we asked, but the server never came back. We practically had to tackle him down to get the refill.
Overall, I would recommend this place for dinner, but not for brunch.

We went to Medium Rare for brunch. We both ordered steak and egg, but with different eggs. He ordered scrambled and I ordered poached. The poached egg was a little bit too runny to the point that I couldn't quite enjoy the egg, it looked like a sauce to the steak. Steak's amazing as per usual. The service was great, we never saw the bottom of our drink until the very end before we left. Would definitely go again.
I was with a party of five for brunch. The drinks were good for the most part, but the two people who had mimosas agreed they were mostly orange juice. The appetizers were fantastic but the entrees were extremely disappointing. The poached eggs were runny to the point that we were unable to eat them with a fork. The meat was extremely undercooked; I ordered medium and it was blue. We did all agree that the French toast was fantastic. The waiter made several mistakes with the orders and took an extremely long time to refill drinks, get the check, etc.
