Our waiter was wonderful but very overwhelmed. They need more wait staff, especially on a Saturday night. The food was excellent as always but we had to keep asking for cutlery.

We had 6:30 reservation and was seated quickly. We did not get drinks until almost 7, although the order was taken. It took over 40 minutes to get the food. And although the food was good, the wait was not worth it. When I complained to an owner, he was very apologetic, but then his partner began to tell me I was wrong to complain. Worst service I have ever had and was told off!!!!

Six of us came to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The table by the window was wonderful. Service was great and food was amazing. Will definitely come back again.

Never disappoints. Starting from a warm welcome at the front door, everything is a notch above. Super food and service, with a relaxed flair. My favorite place to go in Sarasota.

We had a fabulous Valentine’s Day dinner and they took special care to make sure we made the curtain at the Asolo yet we didn’t feel rushed. The staff is very well trained and friendly. A lovely restaurant!

We went with our friend from Stresa Italy who has lived there since birth. She knows Alessandro, one of the owners and the host since he was an infant, and Alessandro's Mom for all her life. Alessandro sat and spoke with our friend in Italian whenever he had a minute. But that is his way in this excellent ristorante. He and his staff are friendly and very helpful. We remembered Alessandro from three years ago when we were in Stresa as he pushed his double tram (twin boys) through the middle of the square on his way to visit his Mom. The ambiance and Alessandro and his partners make this real Italy in Sarasota, and the food was truly authentic Italian food. We intend to be back again and again.

We visited the restaurant twice in a week, once on a Tuesday evening and then again on a Saturday evening.

Both times, the food was very good. Among the dishes we had during the two visits were linguine with seafood, capellini with clams, penne with chicken and mushrooms and peas, flattened cornish game hen. The wine list was also pleasant and not unreasonable; the Gavi di Gavi was excellent.

On Tuesday (under a different person's reservation), the restaurant was quiet, the service was excellent, we were able to linger over our meal. Because we enjoyed it so much, we came back with other friends on Saturday. It was crowded and noisy, and the service was spotty - we had to ask where our wine was and later, after appetizers, how much longer our dinner could possibly be taking.

All in all, I would recommend it and would return to it, but not on a weekend night.

On a Saturday, 6 pm, a group of 3 were told the only available table was the first one at the front door. We preferred a different table but were told all were reserved, although we also had a reservation. We were taken to a back room, between 2 tables of 10 ( a b’day party) and a table for 6 where the noise eventually became unbearable. A lackluster salad was brought quickly, but not divided and pizza was delivered cold. While the overworked waiters tried, it was impossible to satisfy. When we asked again for another table, we were told it was impossible. On the way out, when the manager asked how everything was, we made it clear it was not good, at which he sneered, “if you don’t like it here, go to the other pizza place.” We will not return.

The pastas were excellent. The pizza was a bit disappointing (brought out cold), but since we’ve heard good things about their pizza, we will try again.
