Mediterraneo Ratings and Reviews
Such a lovely family owned restaurant! Had a wonderful experience, food was delicious and very authentic, service was good and loved the fact that it felt very relaxed and not rushed at all. Owner of the restaurant came around after our meal to check on everything and after a very pleasant interaction offered us free dessert! So sweet and very Italian.
The veal scallopine was very dry. Was offered spinach with, then told that spinach was extra that day if I still wanted it. I didn't. This seemed very penny-pinching to me.
My uncle was very pleased with his pasta with salmon.
The restaurant did not have the feel of a "real" restaurant - maybe is better for pizza.
The wait staff was good natured.
Kitchen does not seem as sharp as it used to be. Food is OK. Air conditioning blows right on us but they said there are no other tables available when the place is 1/4 empty. Not sure what is going on. Bruschetta is suddenly served hot, like pizza?!? This place in general used to be much better. Sorry.
Our server was horrible. Nowhere to be found when we needed anything, when we didn't need anything she was behind the bar texting or chatting with the hostess. We just started asking bus boys and other servers for things because we were tired of waiting around.
Otherwise the food was good but be prepared for a long wait.
The outside seating was lovely. The pizza was good as an appetizer. The papardelli bolognese was delicious. The lasgna wasn't very good. The tiramasu was outstanding. This restaurant was very pricey for lunch. We were surprised that there wasn't a weekday pri-fix lunch. The waiter wasn't very attentive. We asked for the check three times!
Very disappointing meal there recently. Salad was not as described. Pizza was tasteless and not well seasoned. Watched a busboy clean a table with a dirty cloth he didn't dry and place clean napkins on the table. Who knows what was growing on that cloth? Was a real turn off. Only redeeming quality was the outdoor seating.
While the service remains as attentive as ever, I am disappointed to see that the food here has gone downhill. Mediterraneo's Tagliolini al granchio used to be so good that I would go out of my way to dine there for it. At this most recent trip though, the dish was extremely bland, even after I asked the server for three huge scoops of fresh Parmesan on top. My friend and I also split the house Tiramisu, which I used to love here because it was dark and strong on the coffee. Unfortunately, they've started adding more cream and it was much sweeter than both of us remembered. The two experiences together lead me to believe that the restaurant is cutting back to save on costs, which actually isn't going to do much for customer retention.
The food is good enough so we have to give them that up front. But the service is terrible - and the ambiance nonexistent. The waitstaff lounges around outside rather than be attentive to guests, and our waiter never cracked a smile or checked on us. The decor is tired, to be charitable. . Its been there for 25 years so clearly it appeals to a neighborhood element for convenience and relatively reasonable prices. But to survive another 25 and thrive the restaurant needs to step up its game.
The meal was very good. I had the tagliolini with salmon. The pasta was perfectly seasoned and cooked al dente. I would have preferred if the meal had more than a tablespoon of salmon to justify the name of the dish. My friend and I shared a tartufo and it was excellent- not hard out of the freezer and not runny. The service was slow. We had to wave a couple of times to get our server's attention despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Overall it was a good meal and I would go back and try again.
Food was very good. The octopus app was the least good-not so tender. The rest was excellent. Had only glasses of wine-didn't seem to have bottles or half bottles (at least they didn't give us the wine list for that if they had one). The service was good. (Though it was a cold day and we were near teh door so we had to keep our jackets). I would go back
