Felt very rushed to eat, server couldn’t wait to take our plates away!!
Medici was nice. Most got salmon and were happy with it.
I had the chicken sandwich but the bun was dry and the chicken itself was
a bit tough and not hot.
Just a few small things with the service. Ordered the wings(which were GREAT) with ranch and the ranch didn’t come and waiter didn’t come back til we were done with the wings, which whatever. But then we got charged for it. About halfway through dinner the waiter went to get me a soda refill and just never came back with it, I assume he forgot.
Yet another very nice evening at Medici. The food is very good, and the service is even better.
Love Medici, it can occasionally be a bit loud. I've always experienced great service and delicious food...
Great food, personable and engaging servers with a wonderful atmosphere. Enjoy!
Always a very nice evening at Medici. Good food and good drinks!
Good food. Too loud to hear people talking at your table.
My husband was sick so took my daughter out for Valentines Day.
This is a pleasant restaurant with many lunch options. We had a group of four on a snowy Saturday, with a nice table by the front window. Our server was Amanda, who was quite helpful and efficient. I will dine here again when I am in the Normal area!
Great staff and great food.
We really enjoyed our dinner, except the beer can chicken was a little overcooked and dry. My wife's gnocchi was very good and our server, Amanda was excellent. We enjoyed the energy and look forward to warmer weather when we can sit outside.
Food is always great! However, the ambiance upstairs is not as good as it is downstairs. When you sit upstairs, it’s almost like you are at a wedding reception- it’s cold, boring decor, and the service upstairs has always been terrible. Please know that I am not referring to the outdoor patio area. Downstairs is always a better experience.
While dinner was ok, we had set a reservation for 6:15 pm. When we arrived, we were told that we wouldn't be seated for about 20-30 mins. While that might be acceptable for walk ins, I find it rude and un-accomodting for a date night. Also there was no where at the bar to sit, and the attendants were unprofessional in their approach with us. We were then seated a a table that was dark and it was difficult to read the menu. The waiter forgot my wife drink, not a good night for Medici.....
Food was great as usual but I was not impressed with the service when it came to the reservation.
I made a reservation for 6:30 and was told it would be a wait ...... I understand that they have to accommodate walk ins if they come earlier than my reservation but ...... I MADE a reservation. My friend and I got so tired of waiting that we just ended up eating at the bar....
Food was exceptional as always. Service was pretty lackluster. If you are looking for a quiet intimate place for a romantic meal this isn't it. However if you are wanting somewhere energetic with an eclectic menu and the best patio in town come here.
One salad and two sandwiches. Everything was good overall. The sweet potato tater tots were absolutely fabulous, I would go back to get them again. The bun that came with the tuna sandwich made for difficult eating. It was too dense that you couldn't cut it without destroying the tuna; the knife could hardly get through it. Trying to bite through it caused the tuna to get smashed and jump out the side of the sandwich. A really good server would have noted that the sandwich was taken apart, left laying on the plate and would have asked if everything was OK.
Not horrible enough to not go back, but I would definitely be ordering something different
This is a great place. Service, food, beer selection, atmosphere all top notch. We go every time we are in Normal for business.
We have dined here 4-5 times and unfortunately each experience has declined. We had a very long wait for our entrees and the food was not worth it. The red pepper fettuccine was very bland and much in need of seasoning. My butternut squash ghocchi was probably the best out of our three entrees. The barbecue brisket very dry and chewy. The lemon curd tart flavor good, however the meringue topping very gritty, the sugar wasn’t dissolved. I keep giving this restaurant a chance due to the convenience of being near campus, but I think I am done!
Great service and good food. Noise level prohibits conversation.
You will definitely need reservations, but worth the wait.
Delightful experience. Excellent cuisine, great service, and the noise level (although often too loud for us) was more on the modest side at the time we had dinner--6pm.
We celebrated two birthdays; we enjoy great food and great service.
Decor was great, nice and cozy, food was ok.
We were a small party on a Sunday evening. Reception at the door was slow, but the table service by Kalen was very good. Menu selections were varied; something for everyone. Prices are reasonable. I had the Chef's Special - a ribeye steak which was excellent, perfectly cooked, along with two tasty vegetable sides. My wife had a red snapper which was unfortunately overcooked. The other guests had satisfactory pasta dishes. I will give this place another visit just based on my meal alone.
I asked for fresh-cracked eggs and received Eggbeaters. The switch ruined the entire omelet. Not one of the four at the table could eat the peppermint cheesecake! (Didn’t taste “right.”)
Really liked the ease of making s reservation online. Very nice.
I had the Italian butternut squash gnocchi and it was delicious! Beware there are lots and lots of onions! I wish there were more tomatoes though. Great ambiance. Have come here for Valentine's Day and anniversaries for the past 2.5 years!
The food was great. The service was slow and the server not very attentive. The restaurant was not extremely busy as we had a late lunch. In the past, we have had excellent servers, so we are not sure why this time was different.
Celebrated a birthday at this spot. Decor was natural woods and a big tree worth the visit. Food was creative and delish, especially risotto and roasted asparagus. Wait staff was attentive and accommodating.
Tasty food and great service. Extensive beers on tap
Need more unique menu items. Bread tasted very plain, even on the burger.
Very nice restaurant with great food. This particular time the service was really slow but the food was good so I will definitely be back next time I’m in Illinois
The food was good. After we got our food and ordered more to drink ... we never saw our server, even for water, until our food was gone. We were very disappointed in the service. This has NEVER happened before.
Great first time experience! Island Snapper was excellent!! Will be going back for sure!
Good atmosphere. Food was ok, overrated compared to some reviews. Mac n cheese was bland, the lemon tart crust was so hard, it bent the spoon.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in town. Good food and service, we love the outside patio in the summer.
We live in Decatur and wanted to go out of town for dinner, to try a new restaurant we'd never been to. Found Medici with a quick Google search. Drove an hour each way. The food was incredible, our server was excellent... We'll definitely be back.
I took my son and his girlfriend to dinner during parents weekend at ISU. I knew the restaurant would be busy, so I booked a reservation. We were seated on time and proceeded to wait for some time for our waiter. Our server arrived and took our drink order. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the salmon which was quite good. My son ordered a cheese pizza which looked as though it was of the frozen variety. Bland, and a bit limp. My son's girlfriend had the spaghetti squash entree and was very pleased.
This brings me to our fiasco in paying for our meal. The check arrived and I placed my debit card in the folder with the bill. Our server took the bill and returned some time later informing me that he was sorry, but he couldn't find my debit card. Somehow it had been "misplaced". The manager came over shortly afterward. She explained that my card could have been given back to the adjoining table by mistake. They would try to track the people through their reservation. When that failed to work, the manager came back and told me not to worry, she loses her debit card all the time and all I needed to do was cancel the card and the bank would issue a new card. What??? I didn't lose my card, I handed it to the server. She then said our meal had been taken care of so we didn't need to wait around. Now I'm being asked to leave??
I chose to file a police report to protect me from any losses and cancelled my card. Now I have to put together a list of all the accounts associated with auto-pay and change them. I never heard another word from the restaurant, nor did they offer any type of compensation other than voiding our meal ticket. Needless to say, I will not be back.
This menu had so many entrees , that it was truly hard to choose just one ! As a couple we found at least 5 or 6 entrees that we wanted to order ! While we were deciding on the entrees we were served delicious sliced specialty breads ! This food takes a modern twist , pairing unique flavor profiles to favorite American and Italian classics !!
A great place for date night or when you want to experience 5 Star food at moderate prices .
Good food, fun place, (a little loud for a date though) great martinis
