Medici in Normal
The menu offers taste of American and European Bistros with fresh homemade breads, seafood, burgers, steaks, stone oven pizzas, and more. Medici also offers a full range of wines, liquors and cocktails, but is really set apart by the devotion to unique beers, with 32 on tap. Featured beers are some of the best American micro-brews.
Medici is the perfect place to host any private event, from corporate meetings to special occasions. The options are endless for any type of event.
Last night I enjoyed dinner at Medici. Now having a wonderful dinner at Medici is not out of the normal, but this was a special dinner for me. I've recently started the WW (formerly Weight Watchers) plan which assigns points to food, and finding a restaurant that provides outstanding food while keeping the point count low is difficult. But Medici came through. My server John helped me to choose the flank steak paired with green beans and grilled brussels sprouts. Neither of the vegetables has "enhanced" by point-laden sauces; both were tasty, especially the sprouts. The steak was excellent as well. I left both satisfied and happy with my choice of restaurant. I know this is not the typical review, but if you're in WW, this is a good choice for you.
Great food and atmosphere!
This was a great night. The food was terrific and the staff was awesome! Thanks. It is rather loud in the restaurant however everything else is fantastic.
Wonderful place! Fun atmosphere - great food! The service was top notch!
A quick stop after a function downtown. Fairly easy to get seated. A bit of issue of getting my burger cooked properly, but otherwise good dining experience.
Love the building and the character. Great food will go back to try something else on the menu
We enjoyed the dining experience! The food was excellent!
Our waiter was amazing! And food was great!
Friday night date was not quiet at all. There were many groups dining on the first floor and there was a group on the second floor that was excitable. Other than that, food was great as usual. Thanks!
The food was wonderful. This was our first visit for dinner. The selection was good and the overall look of and feel of the restaurant was nice. We were at a table that was more out in the open. We were right next to the waitstaff station. If I had anything negative to say it was I did not enjoy having so many waitstaff walked past us while we had our dinner. I would ask for a booth next time. Overall wonderful experience and our wait staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
First time ordering the shrimp and scallops pasta. There weren't any sun-dried tomatoes and there were 3 small pieces of scallops and 3 small shrimp. I think the price warrants a few more pieces of seafood instead of a large portion of fettuccine and small amount of other ingredients. Tasty but the tomatoes were missing!
Went here with my boyfriend for Valentine’s day since we had been wanting to try this place for quite a while. The food was really good and the atmosphere was nice. Overall a really good restaurant and you get what you pay for. Only thing I didn’t like was that our waiter was a little rushed and didn’t pay too much attention to us, and the area of the restaurant we were in felt very bland/boring - not many pictures on the wall nor windows.
The service from our server, Mitch was informative and engaging. Our reservation was at a prime time on Valentine's Day so our entrees took a bit to arrive but the wait was rewarded . The cherrybomb cheesecake was the bomb, too! Overall, an anniversary, Valentine's Day success.
Perfect as usual. Great food and service! Love the atmosphere too.
Very busy and somewhat noisy to carry a good conversation. Food was good, 3 different entrees all good, nice choices on menu. hard to find parking on a Thursday at 5:30. would go again
“Blackened salmon” no blackening and way over cooked. “Polenta”= grits. Hmm. Pretty nice big place though.
Delicious fish tacos in a lovely atmosphere. Great service.
We were at Medici before the ISU game Saturday night. Food was great and the atmosphere was fun to get ready for the game.
Always have had good to great service here. The specials are usually very good. They also avoid having the same old menu by switching things up.
A little bit of a wait time, even though we made the reservation via Open Table.
Very busy and somewhat noisy to carry a good conversation. Food was good, but some of the service was slow.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Medici. The menu has so many interesting and flavorful selections. The food was outstanding. We especially enjoyed the Korean lettuce wraps, cheddar dip and the sweet potato tater tots. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Mahi tacos and salmon brulee were great as usual!
It was good!
What a great find! We were in Normal for a hockey tournament and went to Medici for a family brunch. Food was excellent (how can a pancake be so good?) and sweet potato tots are a must. Friendly staff, interesting decor. We loved it!
just a little disappointed with Hans Beef Stroganoff, noodles were overcooked and sticky, sauce was too thick. I usually order this dish and this is the first time is was not good. Waitress recommended the pizza special for an appetizer (jalapeno) and it was excellent!
Lots of large parties so loud and slower service than usual. Food was okay but not as good as d as usual. I recommend reservations even for week nights.
The service and food was very good. Unfortunately, we were at the back of the restaurant at a table by the hall. It was very drafty and the wait staff kept bumping into my chair. I feel it's a poor spot for a table of four.
Great food. Excellent service.
Very friendly staff. Due to food allergies I asked if the chef could make the particular dish without one of the ingredients. The server asked the chef and I received a delicious variation of the dish that more than met my expectations.
It would be nice to see
Changes to the menu. Specials are nice but limited.
On the reservation, requested a quiet booth or table, away from any large groups, for business conversation. My experience with Medici is the Hosts/Hostess rarely if ever reads the comments section of OpenTable reservations. We were placed at a table for 4 near the entrance and bar with tables surrounding us. The nearby conversations and background noise made it very difficult to have a conversation.
The food and service were good.
We hadn’t been there in a long while but it was just as good as it’s always been. Great food, great service and no sky-high prices. Love Medici!
Met for a birthday dinner. Server brought appetizer out with entrees. Bill was mixed up. Food was good but service a disappointment.
Nice for lunch.
One of the best rib eye steaks I have had in bloomington -normal in a long time!
Good food, wide range of food options and great service.
Requested a booth at the time of my reservation. Was not seated in a booth...even though a booth was available...when I inquired about the open booth I was told it was reserved for someone else...hmmm. My dining companion arrived before I did...hostess said the person was already seated and pointed saying see those wine boxes..your table is over there indicating my companion probably went to the bathroom...hostess did not escort me to my table. Sat down at a table and a server turned to me asking why I was sitting there....then the hostess shouted from her stand...not there, over there. Looked around and spotted my friend. Embarrassing treatment by hostess ... won’t go back to Medici’s for the foreseeable future...as a result of this treatment I did not enjoy my meal.
Always a great experience at Medici. The staff is as high quality as the food and drinks. There is a reason that Medici is one of the noted restaurants in the Bloomington/Normal metroplex.
