Meat Market Ratings and Reviews
Gorgeous interior and bar. The food is phenomenal… I started with the perfectly prepared Crabcake and followed it with a generous portion of salmon. The cheddar mashed potatoes or not to be missed as well as being huge sweet potato fries! Great lunch value of two courses at $26
The biggest disappointment and in fact I believe it is actually dishonest and inappropriate to change the corking fee without changing it on the website or warning patrons of a significant Increase in fee from $35 dollars to $50 dollars. When I checked before going to the restaurant it was still posted as $35. When I questioned it they didn’t even offer a fair apology. They acted with a sense of entitlement. They were somewhat condescending when I questioned the increased charge. I feel if the fee is changed dramatically they should not only change the websites that quite a price to the new price but also warn customers in the restaurant that it has been increased or changed. It spoilt my evening.
We arrived early, and we were seated right away. Always a positive experience, we’ve eaten here many times. However - one complaint - The sides - intended originally for sharing - have shrunk to tiny size. Given that sides are around $16, this is shameful. Be a little more generous with the mashed potatoes. Your profit margins are unlikely to suffer, given the cost of our drinks, wouldn’t you agree?
An amazing find on the popular tourist route of Lincoln Road. Fantastic for meat lovers (hence the name) but also has great salads and veggie sides. Presentation is always fantastic and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The recently refreshed menu is fantastic. Lunch menu one of the best priced. Highly recommend the daily bottled wine special - always great. A must stop during your visit.
MY WIFE AND I ONLY GET TO SEE EACH OTHER ON THE WEEKENDS AND WE WANTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW AND EXCITING DURING OUR DATE NIGHT. OUR SERVER (TIM) KNEW THE MENU VERY WELL AND OFFERED SOME NICE SUGGESTIONS UNFORTUNATELY WE FELT RUSHED THROUGH THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. HE WAS NOT RUDE BUT THE PLACE WAS PRETTY EMPTY SO HE COULD HAVE CHILLED A BIT SINCE THE AMBIANCE CALLS FOR A LAID BACK ATTITUDE. THE SHORT RIB AND BRUSSEL SPROUTS WERE EXQUISITE AS WELL AS THE SWEET POTATOE FRIES. MY WIFE'S CHURRASCO WAS CHARRED (TIP: NEVER GET THE WIFE'S ORDER WRONG, PLEASE). THE INSIDE WAS MEDIUM JUST LIKE SHE ORDER IT BUT THE OUTSIDE WAS NOT DONE PROPERLY. WE WERE TOLD THAT THAT IS THE WAY IT WAS DONE THERE. BY PREVIOUSLY WORKING IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE WITH WORLD KNOWN HOSPITALITY ORGANIZATIONS I AM WELL AWARE OF WHAT YOUR STAFF WAS TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH WITH THE PLATE BUT THEY FELL SHORT. THE TATTERS AND SANGRIA WERE OK. I LOVED THE PLACE BUT THE SERVICE AND FOOD PREPARATION DID NOT MEET OUR EXPECTATIONS.
The Meat Market has several factors in its favor. We were greeted warmly and asked if we preferred indoor or outdoor dining. We chose outside and the atmosphere and people watching on Lincoln Road is fantastic.
Our server was pleasant and helpful.
The food was well prepared and served at the appropriate temperatures and tasted delicious.
The only downside was the portion sizes are rather small for the price. But, I would still recommend The Meat Market.
Highly recommended. The lunch is a great value. I had the empanadas as an appetizer and a side dish along with a prime ribeye and it was all just $26! The happy hour is also great with a great Alta Napa cab for eight dollars that is $14 on the regular menu. Also the Mojito for $10 is great. All of the steaks of course are great. Great food, great ambience, and great service. What more could you want.
Overall the food was good. My main issue is that there is a mandatory 18% gratuity that was put on us for service that was less than stellar. Felt that we were neglected for a good part of our dinner and as the evening went on, it got worst. Felt very much that a dinner that should have been around a hour long shouldn’t have been 2 hours
The Meat Market would like to present themselves as a fine dining restaurant but in actuall fact it’s not much more than a local tavern. The steaks at our table were rare when we all ordered medium or medium plus. One of the sides came out 7-10 minutes after our mains were served. The mac & cheese had so much salt added we couldn’t eat it. The noise level was so high we could barley hear ourselves at our table. The two tables next to us also sent food back and after receiving fresh steaks still didn’t eat them. Our invoice had four additional drinks added to the bill, an automatic 18% gratuity and a resort fee. The entire meal was $600.00+ and I can honestly say I’ve had far better meals at $150.00. I eat in restaurants all over North America that vary from a country diner to Michelin Star rated and can honstly say I would not dine at the Meat Market again. In a restaurant that advertises themselves as fine dining one should as least expect a table cloth, some sort of glass plate as opposed to a plastic tray to plate you meal and possibly competent staff to prepare and serve your dinner. If they set the bar MacDonalds is now fine dining.
As always the ambiance (outside) and the food was excellent. The service was somewhat disinterested, which has never previously been the norm. Perhaps an off night. The winelist is good with some very notable wines but the prices are through the roof.
Always a good dining experience but this one particular time, not a great dining experience. For the price, it should always be great.
