I have been at the Meat Market on several occasions. This time it was for a business meeting and I was embarrassed. It was very busy and the service was deplorable and the food not at all what they are capable of. I don't know if they were short staffed or ill prepared, but the experience was deplorable to the point that my client asked why I had brought him there. I had planned on returning next week with a larger group. Based on my own experience and observing how they handled larger parties, I selected another restaurant. The hostess was very sweet an offered dessert on the house to try to smooth things over. My guests were not interested in dessert and I would have assumed that they would have comp's either the coffee or the after dinner drink which was not the case. Bottom line, it will be awhile before I return. The evening was quite a disappointment. I would not recommend that anyone that is looking to make a good impression on a client think twice as both the food and the service was inconsistent and far below any level of acceptability. I am at a loss of how to express how poor the entire evening was. Hamburgers at the Shake Shack would have been a better choice. On a scale of 1 to 10 this I would rate this at a minus two.
The expectations fell short. There are many steakhouses, my Meat Market was average at best with a steakhouse price which was disappointing. Wait staff was slow and sloppy, spilling Bearnaise on my guest and the grease from one of the appetizers spilling on the table staining clothing. Overall a pass until management figures things out.
First time at the Meat Market which came highly recommended. We had eaten a late lunch so our eyes were bigger than our appetite! Petite Filet, crab cakes were very good. Tomato/onion salad was enough for two people. Good wine selection. Great service but go there hungry!!
Joe was excellent. The bone marrow with short rib was a little over cooked. The meat was way too chewy. And the meat platter came out cold. Other than that the sea bass was excellent, the Rockefeller’s oysters delicious and lobster mac and cheese great.
The ambiance is good and the server was great, the food is just terrible. I LOVE short rib and I was totally disappointed by the entrée. Maybe it was just that dish but there was no flavor and I didn't even eat it.
Our waiter was wonderful. He was very professional and personable. We had a very relaxed dinner and did not feel rushed at all. The beef was excellent. The salads were huge! Well be back next time we are in Miami.
To sum up the night: hugely disappointed. Service was slow at 6:30pm when there wasn’t even a dinner crowd. After ordering an 8oz steak and my date ordering a 16oz (same cut) our portion sizes were practically identical (the price was not) we asked to speak to a manager as our server did little to assist. The overall lack of customer service from management was highly disappointing and surprising for a “fine dining” establishment. We ended up sending the food back and left with a bad taste in our mouth.
I recommend eating inside. We opted to eat outside and it got very cool but they never turned the heating lamps on and I found out that it is far nicer inside. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful.
The food is very good. I ordered my steak well done, it was a fillet and I told them to go ahead and butterfly it but it still wasn’t cooked thoroughly. Always disappointing when a steak house can’t cook a steak to order.
Our waiter was wonderful and we couldn’t of asked for better service.
We ordered the guava donuts which were heavy and on the raw side and tasted like sweet-and-sour chicken balls minus the chicken. We sent them back.
Meat Market is a high-end steak house right on Lincoln Road in South Beach -- so it's an expensive place in the highest rent part of one of the busiest tourist strips around. You can eat outside and people watch. The service was professional -- but we felt like we were being upsold throughout the dinner. Another glass of wine? This other entree ($30 more) is really good -- are you sure you don't want it? Overally, the food was good, though not exceptional.
Great service, friendly and attentive staff (our waitor really loved his steak!), great food, and very sophisticated ambiance! A strong recommendation!
Absolutely delicious! Wonderful service, very personable
We made a reservation for New Year’s eve. Our rrservation was at 9:45pm. When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess told us they were a little behind, and it would take about 30 minutes to sit us. Well, we had our table ready at 11:15pm, after a long and exhausting argue! They ruined our celebration!
The food was great, but we have a reservation for 21:30 and were only able to seat at 23.
Our table is on the dark corredor next to the kitchen. (Unpleasant)
The service was terrible.
The waiter have no idea about nothing. We ask how much time we need to wait for our orders (cause we are late) and he tell us 40 minutes.
We decide call oder waiter to change our order to be faster, but the food comes in 3 minutes.
We order drinks and that never cames, we need to wait for the saide, and just come in the end of dinner.
For new years eve the menu was diferent as menu on Open Table. (Smaller and more expensive).
The service and food were amazing.
The only issue we had was with the reservation process we booked a 9:45PM reservation and we didn’t get seated till 10:55PM. That’s just wrong I don’t care how busy your place is you don’t make people wait over one hour for a reservation.
I had reserved a table for 5 at 9:15 Pm. I started by waiting 15 mn in a line just to checkin and then I was told there was probably 1/2 an hour to wait. We had to wait standing (the 2 sofas in front of the restaurant were overcrowded by people in the same situation) and to stay in front of the restaurant (they cannot call international phone numbers). At 9:50 I asked how long it will still take and got the answer « probably more than 20 mn ». At 10:00 pm all the family being hungry and angry we decided to cancel and eat a burger nextdoor.
Arrived for our reservation at 9pm only to be told that we were on a wait for 2.5 hours, totally ruined my NYE evening with my wife. We ended up sitting at the bar, very uncomfortable and not romantic, the manager was more interested in talking on the microphone than managing the restaurant. Total disappointment.
It will not matter as this place is so popular that it will be full every night. But if you are a person or a family who likes fine dining, avoid this place at all costs. We had a reservation at 8:30pm, were seated at 9:30pm and did not get our food until 10:30pm. No decent restaurant worth its reputation would allow that to happen. One of the worst dining experiences we have ever had.
New Years Eve. Poorly managed, poorly staffed. We never were updated, no one ever apologized, weren't offered a complimentary glass of anything. We saw guests at tables waiting on food forever with no one attending to them. I'd like to point out I'm a local, Ive frequented Meat Market often, been there for NYE in the past. They should show their local repeat patrons more respect. I'll assume they won't last like any other service business that stops giving excellent service but fortunately we have plenty of top notch steak houses to chose from. Btw we ended up eating next door at Books and Books where they couldn't be nicer and more accommodating.
Very rude dismissive and poor service! They include a 20% service charge so have no motivation to provide even mediocre service. This place has steadily gone downhill over the years. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is closed any day.
We went for New Years Eve. The service was great, but the food was average. It was not worth he money we spent. The temperature of the food was a bit cold and the macaroni and cheese was burnt on the top. We were disappointed.
Food excellent as always.
This time, we tried the lunch menu for the first time.
Great value and same excellent food quality!
It was our first time there. Our waiter Joe did an outstanding job explaining the specials and meals. The food was just as Joe described it, excellent. Top notch ambiance, food and service. Will definitely go again next time I'm in Miami.
Had a reservation for 8:30 PM and we didn’t get our table until 9:45 pm. The service was terrible. The food was ok. And the prices were outrageous. Don’t recommend to anyone given all the amazing choices in Miami Beach .
Noisy, overpriced and could just be better. Not impressed. I’ll give it a C+ beyyhe steaks were good. Lobster Mac and cheese had no lobster and it was like kraft Mac and cheese. Crab cakes sucked and we’ve had a lot to compare them to. Extremely loud and just not a pleasant experience.
We ordered the BBQ ribs for appetizer.. It was awesome!! For main, we ordered the Tomahawk, it was really good but I was expecting something above normal standards. Maybe I set my expectations too high. For dessert, we ordered the Miami sampler.. That was above the level!! Our respects to Chef Max Santiago!!
Love this place! Amazing food! Yum!
Meat Market is a terrific steak house with a great bar! The food is amazing AND they handled my 13 year old perfectly who has a milk and tree nut allergy. We all (including my son) LOVED the food! The service was fantastic (David, our waiter was awesome!) The ambience was excellent and super high end. We really got lucky choosing Meat Market in Miami. If you are looking for a superior steak house - this is it....make a reservation though.
We all thoroughly enjoyed both meat and fish of the day dishes. Excellent sides and one portion of Fireman Derek’s delicious apple pie between five of us! Service was delightful and most attentive. Outside seating was very pleasant. We look forward to returning with more of our family when they arrive.
Had Christmas Eve dinner and it was wonderful. Excellent steak, superb service, and the atmosphere was really nice.
The staff was perfect from the moment we walked in and until we left. The food was delicious and inventive. Great menu selection.
Wonderful eating experience and service! Could not have asked for more
Always a great meal!!
Generally speaking amazing food but overpriced even by NYC standards.
Thanks to Gabriel my boyfriends birthday dinner was superb, amazing atmosphere and the host was more than welcoming upon arrival thank you so much... see u guys soon
Unbelievable restaurant overall. Tomahawk Chop is second to none, service was incredible, and the experience was delightful.
Great service; even better food! Waiter spent time explaining the menu as we had a large party. The steaks were fantastic as were the sides and appetizers.
Great steak house
The food was outstanding! Everything that everyone ordered was cooked to perfection and extremely flavorful. The kitchen made a few errors, however the waiter gave great service and did his best to make it right honestly the number of mistakes with subsequent multiple retires on food on the part of the kitchen, would’ve been best rectified with the restaurant comping one of the items ordered. We didn’t ask, but they should’ve offered but didn’t. Food standouts were the Sea Bass, mango wedge salad, and the bone in ribeye and ceviche of the day specials.
