The service was not what I have had at a 1 star restaurant. The food was as good as I was hoping for but the service made the overall experience much less. I have been to many 1 and 2 and also 3 star Michelin restaurants and I would not recommend it and that is a shame because the food was with a just average service would have changed my judgement.
Meadowsweet was great for our anniversary dinner; I noted that it was our anniversary on OpenTable and they gave us a champagne toast at the start of our meal. The food, wine, and cocktails were all fantastic. It’s a little loud but overall great service, we’ll definitely be returning.
If you're in the area and looking for quality food at a reasonable price in a nice setting I would recommend Meadowsweet. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or our servers first day, but the service was actively pretty bad, as in she didn't know the menu at all and was rude to us in addition to bringing the wrong drinks and food. That was the only downside.
One of the better meals we have had in a long time. From the appetizers (actually, starting with the bread), to the mains to dessert, everything was magnificent.
We had a 6 p.m. reservation on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was empty for the majority of our meal; a quiet dinning room is a rarity in NYC and we relished the experienced. We elected to do the tasting which we thought was slightly overvalued for 5 regularly cooked menu items. In retrospect, we were better off choosing one entree item. But besides spending a little extra dough, we have no regrets - the food was delicious. The service was excellent; our waiter checked in for every course.
Due to the marathon, one member of our party was extremely late for the reservation. Meadowsweet was kind enough to seat us and we had a lovely stretched out brunch as a result. Waitstaff was friendly and understanding. Food was delicious!
A rather bland and uneventful restaurant, with a funky but totally unskilled waitstaff, and a run-of-the-mill kitchen. It proves an earlier established (by me) notion that New York Michelin is a relatively easy feat. Not clear who is awarding M-stars in this city and what is the criteria, but this restaurant keeps us puzzled well past our reservation time. Loud, devoid of any atmosphere (especially on a Saturday night), with an ordinary food offering, I wonder what possessed the reviewers to award any recognition to this joint. Our waitress was clumsy, dropped silverware on a number of occasions when clearing our table, was impersonable and frankly looked overwhelmed. The dissonance between the food - decor - lack of any ambiance - or personality to this place - was rather too evident... One thing, though, I must recognize - we were late to the dinner due to the never-ending New York traffic, lack of parking space in Williamsburg, and just an annoying Saturday-night churn of narrow Brooklyn streets - and the restaurant went above and beyond to accommodate us - something that most NY restaurants would not do. It doesn't rise to any level of Michelin greatness, but definitely shows respect for customers - such a rarity in the city.
The staff there is so welcoming and friendly! Very nice vibe. The wine selection is awesome too
Celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday at this delightful restaurant. Food was outstanding, as was service, including a candle on the dessert and a surprise glass of champagne. Prices were SO reasonable for the quality of food.
Bloody Mary is awesome! The oysters were delicious! Service is wonderful. Unfortunately I forgot the name of our waitress (a blonde girl). She is the best.
A wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. Service and food were excellent.
Service was superrr slow and we had to yell across the table it was so loud
Amazing for dinner. I would avoid brunch. This review is for brunch. Dinner is 5 stars.
Great use of seasonal produce. Flavoursome food, generous servings and great wine list. The service was outstanding 👍
Meadowsweet is always wonderful - the food, the atmosphere, the decor - it’s the dream setting for all that I want a New York restaurant to be!
Food was amazing. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Great ambiance
Food was delicious and service was on point!
Three appetizers and sides were amazing. The vegetarian entree was falafel, not that interesting or tasty.
We were seated near the door, across from the bar so not the best setting, but fine. Further back in the dining area is probably more pleasant.
The food was delicious and inventive, and our server handled my food allergy to gluten so well. They even modified dishes so we would be able to share and I’d be able to try things I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. Well done accommodating this celiac foodie!
Always a great time at meadowsweet!!!
Love this place! Would definitely come back another time and try tasting menu. Food is excellent! Compliments to kitchen team!
Brunch is always awesome. Had the duck hash for the first time and I highly recommend.
Three adults reserved a table for Sunday brunch, and had a wonderful meal, served unobtrusively yet attentively. I look forward to returning.
Absolute gem in Brooklyn and well deserved Michelin Star. Service was attentive and never over-bearing. The food was spectacular, my chicken roulade was perfectly cooked, and the ribs were phenomenal. Best of all, the price is a bargain for what you get.
Get the duck ragu! Ocums razor for desert 🤤
We love Meadowsweet! First time for our friends (our fourth!) and we had a lovely brunch. Good and service were outstanding, the setting is just so lovely.
Fantastic food served on time by a friendly and attentive staff.
Delicious from start to finish. Highly recommend for a special night.
We had the most amazing experience at Meadowsweet. The staff was kind, helpful, and not pretentious. The dishes were unique, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. They even gave us complementary Prosecco for our anniversary! Meadowsweet absolutely exceeded our expectations and it’s a dinner we won’t soon forget.
incredible food & service. this place is quite the hidden gem. will be coming back for sure!
Excellent food and attentive service. We enjoyed the experience immensely.
Food is excellent! Quality great, service good, low key vibe but that's what I like.
İts good! But could be more exceptional
Very nice food but probably nicer vibe to sit outside rather than inside at the back.
Just not the level of service, attention and details of what you would expect for a Michelin Star Restaurant.
I really like this place. It's been solid every time I've eaten here. I would recommend it to people. However, is it Michelin star worthy? Not especially. Although I suppose that designation doesn't prove much, anyway...
Loved it! Very chic Brooklyn setting. Lots of people on Saturday night dates and girls’ nights out. The service was outstanding! Loved the Pisco Sour and the signature crispy artichokes with lemon were yummy. Everything was delicious and they made a lovely accommodation for simple pasta for our 9 year old.
I’ve been to Meadowsweet one other time and the experience was fantastic. A friend was coming to visit from out of town so I decided to bring him for dinner. My guest was running late and the restaurant host was very accommodating and helped push out the reservation by 30 minutes.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly host and seated immediately. That’s pretty much where the Michelin star experience started to unravel. The food was good but not exceptional like my first visit. That said, it was the service that really spoiled the entire night.
No one asked us how our food was— ever. We ordered a carafe of wine that was essentially one glass for each of us. After our appetizers, our glasses were empty and no one asked if we wanted more wine for the rest of the evening. Our server was no where to be found. The main course arrived, and again no one ever came back to check in.
My guest happened to take out his credit card after the main course was cleared. The server decided that this meant we didn’t want coffee or dessert. He came over, didn’t ask how our food was and brought the check. At this point we were so appalled that we gave the credit for payment. I was so angry that I spoke to the waiter to express my disappointment with the experience. He then came over with one dessert to share that he chose for us as an apology. What would have been better is to ask if we wanted dessert and to offer us the chance to continue our meal. Although after the night we had, all we wanted to do was get out of there.
There was nothing about the evening deserving of Michelin Star. Such a disappointment compared to my first experience at Meadowsweet.
We ate outside...next to garbage cans. Our choice but probably wouldn’t eat outside again due to smell and flies. Service was great and food was delicious but somewhat pricey for portions given.
