What Insiders Are Saying

The Infatuation
8.4

There’s this thing. It’s called The Feel Good Factor™. Meadowsweet in Williamsburg has a whole bunch of it.

Ratings 8.0-8.5:The best way to think about restaurants in the low to mid 8′s is that these are the places you would absolutely go back to, anytime. These restaurants are ones that you want to bring a friend to, just so they can also experience the duck carnitas, or burger, or whatever dish the place is known for.

We had a really lovely brunch, the crispy artichoke appetizer was amazing (I could eat an entire plate of that). It's hard to choose an entree there are so many great choices. Cocktails are mixed very well, ambiance is welcoming and I'm thankful there's another place for me to go in Williamsburg that has great service instead of the typical Williamsburg hungover hipster service.

I would return to Meadowsweet again and again. Although the menu is limited, the food is outstanding and the presentations are superb- worthy of a magazine cover! Our server was attentive but not intrusive and helped us decide among the excellent choices. Definitely worth a visit!

Quality of the eats is very good but nothing original
I expected an other culinary experience from a Michelin stared restaurant
The starter are very small. Too small
The main dish, the wagyu bavette, was cold
The restaurant is very noisy
Hype but not gourmet
I don’t recommend it

We were very much looking forward to this dinner and the first 30 minutes were really incredible. Then a number of weird things happened making the experience highly disappointing:
1. I explicitly ordered a bottle of wine but the server thought I said we each wanted a glass - after we finished our glasses expecting to get more she rudely insisted I said glasses not a bottle instead of admitting to the misunderstanding - just unpleasant and awkward
2. There was ZERO help on guiding us through the menu; we were debating between some sides and landed on corn but when our food came everything had corn in it - in my experience a good server would have suggested something else
3. No one checked in after we got our food and our finished plates and empty wine glasses sat in front of us for (NO JOKE) 25 minutes. I timed it because after about 15 minutes it was just funny. I likely would have had a cocktail but literally no one came it see if I wanted one...
4. Their “system” couldn’t take my credit card - a regular visa (?) so my boyfriend had to pay for his birthday dinner (on the exact same type of credit card)and now I have to transfer him. Super romantic.
That being said, the food tasted good so head over if you don’t mind everything else being terrible.

The appetizers were sublime; sadly the main dishes were, in my opinion, not up to par with the starters, although being tasty in their own way. But honestly since this is a Michelin restaurant I was expecting a bit more, and I do love fine dining.

Regarding the dessert - a chocolate cake, it was tasty, but a bit on the sweet side for my palate and I would’ve melted out of joy had they only balanced out the sweetness with some tartness as well. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

This restaurant came highly recommended by a chef foodie friend, and was supposed to be the highlight of a short holiday in Brooklyn and Williamsburg. The service was outstanding and the winelist impressive. There were some issues with the food which was disappointing. We shared a starter- the fresh figs with whipped ricotta (I think..) and honey presented on toasted sourdough. The flavour of the figs did not materialise, the honey was lovely but overpowered the figs, and the cheese was just there. The duck main course I ordered was really very good. The presentation was lacking though. The wagyu sirloin that my sister ordered was tough. It was replaced, and the second one that came has some sinew. The flavour of the meat, together with the vegetables and bordelaise was outstanding but the quality of the cut was really disappointing, and unexpected from a restaurant of this calibre. My sister ordered the flourless chocolate cake, which was good, and I had an order of espresso and vanilla ice cream. The bill was reasonably for what we had.

I LOVE Meadowsweet! This was a meal to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. However, unfortunately, the A/C was not working on the very hot evening we went. We opted to dine outside which was lovely, but having indoor A/C dining would have put the experience at 5 stars.

My partner and I came here for a meal whilst we were on holiday from the UK. We had 4 nights booked in NYC and 1 night was our “fancy dinner” evening. We were blown away by everything. The staff, service, wine, location, restaurant decor and most importantly the food were all incredible. When we come back to NYC we will certainly be booking this place again. The tasting menu was out of this world. Cannot recommend enough! Thank you.

Amazing meal, every dish was better than the last. The scallops were unreal, and the octopus was perfectly cooked. Ambiance is that of a warm and low-key neighborhood spot. Order the cocktail with mezcal and cucumber for a refreshing and delicious treat.

I was in Brooklyn for a business event and wanted to take my wife to dinner while there. Meadowsweet caught my attention with it's good rating and reviews. The décor is rather simple and not pretentious. Gives it a more casual vibe.

The food was good. We shared the burrata as an appetizer. It's a bit small but was tasty and had a nice variety of textures. My wife had the vegetarian entrée with zucchini and falafel. The zucchini was amazing but the falafel was a bit dry and dense. I had the spicy duck and it was very good.

We decided to have dessert and shared the flourless chocolate cake. It was also very good.

Overall food is very good as is the service and the restaurant is a good value for the quality.

Primary server enthusiastic and competent. Other staff offhand and aloof.
I left a generous tip - which they mandatorily add for a table of 5 or more.
No recognition of this.
This makes me reconsider returning.

We dined at Meadowsweet for my wife’s birthday. We were warmly received and decided on the five course tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was delicious. Our menu included crispy baby artichokes salad, tajarin and truffle pasta, Scottish salmon, wagyu beef and dessert each paired with a interesting wine. It was a great ending to a fun day out and about in Brooklyn.
