Roche Harbor’s McMillin's Restaurant is located in the historic home of John S. McMillin built in 1886. In 1956, the late Reuben J. Tarte and his son, Neil, purchased Roche Harbor. By 1958, the Tarte family had restored many historic sites, including the restaurant, which was once the home of John S. McMillin. Additional seating in the restaurant was added in 1964, and the gazebo and deck were completed in 1977. On March 15, 1989, the Tarte family sold the resort to the current owners.

For over 40 years, the tradition of excellence has continued at Roche Harbor, the landmark boating and leisure destination resort that exists today. The restaurant remains a favorite for those who trek by land and sea to enjoy a truly unique dining experience on the very northwest tip of the Pacific Northwest.

A wonderful date night with my husband and son!! The best oysters I’ve had in a while and delicious entrees and dessert as well! Our server was so friendly and just the right kind of attentive without disturbing our conversation. Dining here was relaxing and indulgent.

The food and atmosphere were excellent! The service from start to finish was fantastic and the view beautiful! It was a great place to celebrate our anniversary. The only issue we had was the price of some of the food was a little high but their drinks were comparably priced to other places on the island.

what you would expect at a fine resort. Great dinner for a wedding planning event.

We chose McMillan's for the last night on the island for a young lady who was visiting. While our favorite entree is the prime rib, we branched out this time to explore other items on the menu. I had a scallop special that was delicious. Our son ordered the meatloaf, which was a very generous portion. My husband went with two appetizers, steak bites and ahi tuna. He enjoyed both. The steak bites might have been a bit spicy for my wimpy taste buds, but he thought they were great! Our guest went with the blue cheese salad, which is one of my favorites. We ended with a creme brûlée trio. All three flavors were quite good. The view is over the marina.

Solid as ever; small winter plates a fine option; dinner slightly spoiled by a large loud party in which the adults clearly had imbibed way too much.

We go often because we live here. Always great food and service! We went New Years Eve, wished we could have ordered from regular menu instead of all that food esp . desert at end! Full, noisy, servers running trying to get all courses out. We would have liked a relaxing evening!

For many years we have enjoyed a San Juan Island New Year's escape which includes dinner at McMillan's Restaurant at Roche Harbor. We look forward to the casual elegance of the food, service and harbor views while sharing a pomegranate cosmopolitan: our signature anniversary beverage to celebrate another year together. This year again met our high expectations for the McMillian's experience of the good life.

We had a great dinner for my family (6 members). Rather varied group of food interest; teens, adults, picky eaters, etc. and McMillen's offered enough choices to satisfy all. Service was outstanding (as always) and the ambiance was as extremely pleasant.
My wife and I generally eat here several times each year and have never had anything but a good, solid experience. Without reservation we recommend this restaurant for all occasions.

Friendly professional waitstaff; we never had to ask for water and plates were cleared in a timely manner. When I relied that my meal wasn't to my expectations, I was immediately offered the other dish I had considered. Excellent resolution. The bisque really is as good as the reviews (red bell pepper flavor with a little warming spice). Yum.

Great atmosphere. Nice staff and warm welcome. Loud conversation next to us and that was a bit distracting. Wine and salad were outstanding, scallop dish with chanterelles was quite bland. Love the resort will be back!

Dinner was well prepared, and ample. Ambiance was appropriate: waterfront, not too noisy, casual and comfortable, the kind of place you would want to go on a wet fall afternoon in the San Juan Islands. Service was excellent: efficient without being obtrusive. Server was friendly and attentive, even though she obviously was busy.

I got a note from you that we did not honor our reservation. We did, we arrived on time and notified the person who greeted us that we had a reservation. Don't know where the mix-up occurred, but it wasn't us.

Apparently a reservation for a window seat must be made more than a week in advance as we had a table in the back of the room. But truthfully the windows are huge and we could see the harbor area just fine from our table. The food was good and the portions were huge. Our service was wonderful and our waiter was very attentive.

McMillan's is always favorite, but the new (from 4 moths ago) menu was a nice surprise with many great options. The food was absolutely wonderful in presentation and taste. The only (small) knock was the raspberry sauce on the Key Lime Pie. Both were very good, but didn't really go together in my opinion.

While the service was great, my food was overcooked and rather tasteless, and my date's dinner was very much underprepared - nothing really to rave about with the exception of the mushrooms. Overpriced vacation food in a nice atmosphere.

Known for their prime rib, this is a perennial family favorite for a special occasion. Find out what time Colors will be held and get a window table!
