Double birthday celebration.
Excellent food. Attentive service. The Roche Harbor setting is wonderful.
We love McMillans. A fine mix of authentic, historic and fine dining. A real NW gem!
When in Roche, my family loves coming here- be sure not to miss it! Everything on the menu is delicious, creative and cooked to perfection. The service is top notch; bartenders, servers and the manager do an incredible job to ensure your evening is perfect.
Be sure to try the lamb if it's on the menu.
Thank you McMillan's staff for your amazing service!
Dining at Easter.. A Local... eaten here forever... 24 hrs. before reservation received an update of new menu for the night... All prices higher....menu changed...this needs to happen before 24 hrs. of going....VERY SLOW SERVICE!.... And bread is always brought...HAD TO ASK FOR IT!!! what do you do .. finished salads... waiting.. long waits... not drinking... a local... eat here often....A night was all about making money...Kitchen needed more help.. our reservation was at 5:30.... we left at 8:30.... it was not a party... that's how SLOW the service was...
Window view over the harbor, attentive service (Samil is a master at
My husband and I were on a weekend getaway for his birthday and for his special dinner, my research online for a special romantic place suggested McMillins. We had a wonderful time, it's a touch pricey but well worth it. The ambiance was warm and inviting plus the food was delicious. I'm a vegetarian (I also eat fish fish so I had the papparadelle with mixed seafood) and found several excellent dishes to chose from and my husband had the special of scallops over saffron risotto. We loved our meals! Our server was kind and knowledgable, he brought our dishes out in that not-too-fast and not-too-slow manner.
We will definitely return and our children will join us too.
A wonderful date night with my husband and son!! The best oysters I’ve had in a while and delicious entrees and dessert as well! Our server was so friendly and just the right kind of attentive without disturbing our conversation. Dining here was relaxing and indulgent.
The food and atmosphere were excellent! The service from start to finish was fantastic and the view beautiful! It was a great place to celebrate our anniversary. The only issue we had was the price of some of the food was a little high but their drinks were comparably priced to other places on the island.
Great food and great service as always!
We got engaged and grateful for the unbelievable staff making it a very special night and experience for
what you would expect at a fine resort. Great dinner for a wedding planning event.
We chose McMillan's for the last night on the island for a young lady who was visiting. While our favorite entree is the prime rib, we branched out this time to explore other items on the menu. I had a scallop special that was delicious. Our son ordered the meatloaf, which was a very generous portion. My husband went with two appetizers, steak bites and ahi tuna. He enjoyed both. The steak bites might have been a bit spicy for my wimpy taste buds, but he thought they were great! Our guest went with the blue cheese salad, which is one of my favorites. We ended with a creme brûlée trio. All three flavors were quite good. The view is over the marina.
Solid as ever; small winter plates a fine option; dinner slightly spoiled by a large loud party in which the adults clearly had imbibed way too much.
We go often because we live here. Always great food and service! We went New Years Eve, wished we could have ordered from regular menu instead of all that food esp . desert at end! Full, noisy, servers running trying to get all courses out. We would have liked a relaxing evening!
For many years we have enjoyed a San Juan Island New Year's escape which includes dinner at McMillan's Restaurant at Roche Harbor. We look forward to the casual elegance of the food, service and harbor views while sharing a pomegranate cosmopolitan: our signature anniversary beverage to celebrate another year together. This year again met our high expectations for the McMillian's experience of the good life.
We had a great dinner for my family (6 members). Rather varied group of food interest; teens, adults, picky eaters, etc. and McMillen's offered enough choices to satisfy all. Service was outstanding (as always) and the ambiance was as extremely pleasant.
My wife and I generally eat here several times each year and have never had anything but a good, solid experience. Without reservation we recommend this restaurant for all occasions.
Friendly professional waitstaff; we never had to ask for water and plates were cleared in a timely manner. When I relied that my meal wasn't to my expectations, I was immediately offered the other dish I had considered. Excellent resolution. The bisque really is as good as the reviews (red bell pepper flavor with a little warming spice). Yum.
Great atmosphere. Nice staff and warm welcome. Loud conversation next to us and that was a bit distracting. Wine and salad were outstanding, scallop dish with chanterelles was quite bland. Love the resort will be back!
Great service, good food, historic setting.
As usual, our experience was great. Jullian was as always outstanding
Dinner was well prepared, and ample. Ambiance was appropriate: waterfront, not too noisy, casual and comfortable, the kind of place you would want to go on a wet fall afternoon in the San Juan Islands. Service was excellent: efficient without being obtrusive. Server was friendly and attentive, even though she obviously was busy.
I got a note from you that we did not honor our reservation. We did, we arrived on time and notified the person who greeted us that we had a reservation. Don't know where the mix-up occurred, but it wasn't us.
Apparently a reservation for a window seat must be made more than a week in advance as we had a table in the back of the room. But truthfully the windows are huge and we could see the harbor area just fine from our table. The food was good and the portions were huge. Our service was wonderful and our waiter was very attentive.
Wonderful evening with friends. Great food, fun, knowledgeable staff, and an overall enjoyable eating experience.
McMillan's is always favorite, but the new (from 4 moths ago) menu was a nice surprise with many great options. The food was absolutely wonderful in presentation and taste. The only (small) knock was the raspberry sauce on the Key Lime Pie. Both were very good, but didn't really go together in my opinion.
While the service was great, my food was overcooked and rather tasteless, and my date's dinner was very much underprepared - nothing really to rave about with the exception of the mushrooms. Overpriced vacation food in a nice atmosphere.
Known for their prime rib, this is a perennial family favorite for a special occasion. Find out what time Colors will be held and get a window table!
Lamb was over cooked and dry. Prime rib was pre-cooked pieces of rib steaks. Halibut cheeks were good. Caesar salad was bland.
Eat downstairs where they can't screw up a burger too badly!
Great setting, staff and food. Had a perfect time!
Horrible handicapped access. Does not exist. No place to park. Meal and server were awesome. Manager worthless. We go back because of view and food. And I make a great effort to get up and down steps. Use a walker, try my best. At 70 it is a little daunting.
Spectacular! Bacon wrapped prawns with Grand Marnier were amazing!
Everything was very good. The only issue was the guy throwing the bread. He should have been asked to leave.
We love to bring our visitors to Stuart Island to McMillans for a great dining experience. Sarah, our wait staff, did a great job. Your Crab Bisque is beyond delicious...I can't avoid ordering it when we come for dinner. We will continue to be loyal clients...
Ours was such a nice dining experience at McMillan's. We had been earlier in the summer and definitely wanted to return with our family; It didn't disappoint. We had great service, a very nice meal - order the Tuna Stack- it's terrific and enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Who wouldn't be happy looking out from your table over Roche Harbour?!
This restaurant has good food and an incredible view. We have always had excellent service and go to the restaurant often.
The waitress new nothing about their beer selection. She new they had "bud and bud light and maybe miller. " Non of those should even be served at a nice restaurant. They should have a selection of high end microbrews to match their wine list. They may have but our waitress didn't know and did not seem interested in finding out. They should at least have a couple of beers from the San Juan brewing there on the island.
Always good when visiting Roche Harbor especially the prime rib.
Fantastic Halibut and service. Would recommend for dinner.
Always fabulous local ingredients, good service, a view of beautiful Roche Harbor and capped by the Colors Ceremony.
