It was very fancy but very antique would’ve rather been around a younger child.

McKinnons is a nice restaurant and the food is pretty good. They however need to reevaluate offering 10:00 reservations when their kitchen closes at 10:00. The urgency to get us in and take our order diminished their customer service efforts or the lack there of.

Being from New Orleans the food at this establishment is mediocre at best. The food was not fresh at all, very bland and seemed to be pre-made. I had to send my order of oysters Rockefeller back because of the awful taste. I ordered the catfish which was very blah and my boyfriend ordered steak that was dowsed in bbq sauce, seems as if they were trying to cover up a not so fresh piece of meat by overloading it with pepper and bbq sauce. Overall the service was great and the decor needs an update but I will not be coming back.

We enjoyed the grouper Louisianne with crab and Hollandaise. Gumbo was delish, just spicy enough and wonderful bread for sopping up the broth. Service was spot on.

The food was quite disappointing. We actually had to return two plates and one of those was due to spoiled ingredients.

The restaurant was very gracious to us, as we were all visiting from California. We were greeted by the owner and he helped us with a full history and description of all the foods and the spices. The food was wonderful. The service was spectacular, and the ambiance cannot be matched.

Ordered the Grouper Louisianne. It came with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. The beans looked and tasted like they had been on a steam table for hours instead of being freshly cooked. My guest ordered trout. Both of our dishes were rather bland. The service was excellent; however, the food was not what we expected. Oh and we sent the key lime pie back. It was not good either. Wine was good. Bread was good. Calamari was good. But that doesnt constitute two meals worth $85.

While the menu has a variety of food choices, the food was very bland! I had the gumbo and Grouper Louisiana-not good at all! One of my friends had the Oyster Rockefeller and Snapper Oscar-she said it was the worst she ever had! Another friend had the Amberjack with hot peppered shrimp-all she tasted was black pepper! However the service was awesome!

The restaurant can be deceiving from the outside but the food was really good and the service outstanding. The owner, Aziz, is very friendly and came over to our table several times. It is a smaller restaurant so it's not a place you can sit for a long period of time on a Saturday night. I would definitely go back.

We always have great food and service at McKinnon's. My husband and I have been going here for many years. Our most recent visit on a weeknight was very quiet but we had an early reservation. I had the blackened amberjack with a crab cake on the side. It was delicious as always. My husband had his favortie crabcakes. We grew up in Mississippi and spent a lot of time in New Orleans. McKinnon's stays true to the New Orleans style food experience. We know we will always have a delicious meal and a reasonable price when we dine here.

I LOVE McKinnon's. The warm greeting when you arrive. The swift cocktail service. The great food and guidance to the best of the best. A truly calm and great experience. I enjoy the cuisine and the taste is excellent. I like to make McKinnon's a part of my life at least monthly or more. I would eat there weekly if I could. Go and say Hello to Ebi and enjoy.

For decades, McKinnon's has offered really good, genuine New Orleans/Creole food. The restaurant was founded by Billy McKinnon who had cooked in several of New Orleans' most noted restaurants - and brought those standards to Atlanta. The food is just as good today. A nice, but not flashy place, which also is a good value. Service reliably quite good.

McKinnon's Louisiane was a pleasant surprise. I live down the street and often wandered by the "nothing fancy" exterior of the strip-mall cajun restaurant, but was always curious to check it out. I expected a lively "New Orleans" piano bar feel, with bright colors and spicy cajun food (shimp and grits, jambalaya, crawfish) and got something quite different-but lovely. McKinnon's is Old School Louisiana-- dark wood paneling, stained glass accents, and southern hospitality. The food was EXCELLENT (although I didnt get my jambalaya). The fish dishes were cooked to perfection and seasoned wonderfully. Treated myself to a slice of cheesecake with a praline topping, which was delicious.

What made it all come together though, was the above-and-beyond hospitality and warmth of the owner, Aziz. He came by twice during the dinner with my parents just to check in and chat. That kind of attention and service is rare, and it was great. Our waiter was also fantastic--quiet and not-fussy but always seemed to know exactly when we needed him and what we wanted.

Definitely check out this hidden gem for a unique (and tasty) dining experience!

I love McKinnon's! Yeah, its a bit dated. But, the charm, the quiet service, the servers and the owner make up for any lack of glitz that so many new restaurants have.

McKinnon's is an Atlanta classic. It has been in operation since the early 1970's. It has a loyal following of a more mature clientele. It is fun to people watch. The food is very good to excellent. Zesty and flavorful creole dishes. Excellent grouper, snapper and soft shell crab. Try the bread pudding for desert. You will not be disappointed!
