The food quality and selection was poor to say the least. Prime rib was not of the best quality (fatty) and the rest of the foot was average bar food. Expected more for the price - $50.

We eat at McKay's when we come into town every few months. The food is good quality and the service is always great. We were celebrating a birthday and they did a fantastic job with limited staffing even though the main dining area wasn't open. I was impressed.

Always enjoy my time at McKay’s. The food is delicious and service is great. McKay’s should consider giving more or larger pieces of fish in their Fish n Chips Lunch. One received 3 very small pieces. Other menu portions are appropriate.

This is definitely a hotel restaurant. When you are expecting that - it is totally solid. We had a fantastic waiter (Scott) who took care of us the entire time. Food was solid. Nothing creative but just About anything you could want for breakfast. Price point was fairly typical of a hotel restaurant. Overall - a good experience. I can see how reviews have been up and down based on service. But I want to be clear that we had a great server !

This place is sadly so disappointing. It could be such a great gathering spot as the location is great. It’s slow and confusing. I thought it was just a staff shortage problem but no one seems to know who is doing what. Food very average. Drinks very average. If you have LOTS of time to wait around. USC - please do better. Trojan families need more good options like this. This place misses the mark every time.

The service was very poor. Had to wait a long time for one of our food (Salmon salad) that we asked to be cooked since it came out rear. Also, the server was rude, when we asked for the dessert menu, he commented, "we do not have a dessert menu, we only have two desserts and I am very busy".

My first time visiting food restaurant on Yelp taking my friends daughter and friend to breakfast while on their spring break. Made reservations for 4 never was told because it's USC game you must order from the buffet not a great experience as the buffet was a joke. The waitress was nice enough to ask manager for regular menu so I could order something that I could eat also for my young son. Not sure I will dine here again will see.

Was pleasantly surprised at how good the breakfast was. For $10 we got a good sized portion of what was ordered so it was very reasonably priced. Our server Ana was very personable, friendly, and answered our questions regarding menu items. She was also very efficient in bringing our food and taking care of our needs. We all enjoyed our breakfast immensely and would definitely go back.

We were thrilled to find a reasonably priced restaurant downtown near the show we were going to. The server could not have been nicer or more accommodating and each of us was absolutely delighted with our orders. My daughter had a divine bolognaise pasta, I had a delicious chipotle glazed salmon with a yummy avocado-pineapple salsa, and my husband's creative sandwich was so big he took half home. We found the parking a bit confusing--the entrance is right after the hotel, and you have to keep going up until you reach the metered spaces. (Also note that the directions say it's in the Radisson, but it's now the USC Hotel.)

We had dinner at McKay’s on Friday night and it was great! We thought the breakfast buffet would be just as good if not better!! For $20/person it was more like an over priced continental breakfast at a hotel. Cold food, rock hard cinnamon roles, and a disappointing selection. Nothing about it was even warm and I would have rather had the option for more pastries or pancakes/waffles versus a chicken broth soup for the chef’s special on the buffet. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant is clean and well decorated but I would not recommend this buffet to anyone!

First time to McKay’s. We chose it because it was in between for a friend from Westchester and me from Pasadena. I decided to take the train because the website said the station was on the corner of Figueroa and Expo. Not. Really pretty underwhelming. The signage is poor so it’s really easy to pass it (and not so easy to turn around). Parking is nonexistent except in hotel garage. Food was OK to inedible. My fish and chips were OK but missing something green like coleslaw that usually accompanies it in most restaurants. Tons of fries though. My friend had rigatoni that looked dry and she didn’t eat. To their credit they removed her dish from the bill and did offer to bring her something else (which she declined). On the plus side it was quiet (very few people in there) and clean. If average is what you’re after it’ll be OK for you. Otherwise, drive a little further into downtown where there are better choices.

I initially chose McKay's for a business lunch because I needed to meet someone who was staying downtown and I was coming in from Orange County. It was a great choice as he was able to get there easily using Uber and it was right off the Harbor Freeway and I could miss the downtown crush. Besides being a great place for a business lunch, the food was exceptional. I had an Asian-style Ahi salad which had some interesting spins and tasted great. The waitress was very attentive. Thanks!

We shared a crab/mango salad. It had minimum dressing so we found the salad with minimal flavor. We were not happy about the salad and gave our feedback to the waiter. I thought my order of Fish & Chips was ok. The potatoes were excellent but I felt the fish was somewhat limited. Maybe there should have been more fish or a vegetable added to plate. My friend was not thrilled about her rib meal maybe because not enough meat. I thought rib meat was delicious with too much potatoes. This dish also needed a vegetable. I'm sure McKay's does better with burgers and sandwiches.

Even though there were regular seating tables available, they sat us in lounge seating. This made it somewhat difficult to eat. Waiter was slow to arrive, and even slower to take our full order. Waited over 30 minutes after placing order for any food to arrive, and appetizer arrived with regular entrees rather than beforehand. Food was average, and most items were very salty. About the only good thing about this place was the parking, which we should have just stayed in, as parking near the Shrine Auditorium was extremely expensive and traffic was horrid.

Had a few friends in town and decided to give McKay's a try. We grew up in the area in the 70's and are big USC fans. The memorabilia, artwork adorned the restaurant and added to the vibe. The food was excellent; short rib hash, Burger was fresh, served on brioche bun. We will be back again.

Bar area is hopping in the evenings when sports are televised on big screen TVs in bar. It's not easy to get a table for dinner during football game days so plan ahead.

Make a reservation - especially if you are planning to dine before or after an event at the Galen Center. People are very nice there and food is good. Service is slow (including bringing the check) on game days as they try to juggle everyone trying to eat and get out at the same time. As long as you understand this going in, you will have a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience and be on your way in time to take the 2 minute walk to the Galen Center entrance and get to your seats.

Very convenient location if you are at USC for any event. Wait staff were very attentive and accurate. Sadly, though, we had both dinner and breakfast there and both were not good. Dinner was literally terrible, other than the asparagus, breakfast was not as bad, but still not good. Bright side? Full bar.

I remember McKay's as having a better menu with more steakhouse entrees, as opposed to sandwiches. There was a filet on the menu as well as a pesto fettuccine, but otherwise the menu seems more like The Lab (a few doors down). The wine "list" makes you feel like you are in the Midwest. This is California, and a nice restaurant needs to have more than one selection of each varietal and also needs to have some mid to upper level wines. This looked like wines that someone picked up from the local grocery store. The historical photos on the walls and the nice ambiance still make this a nice place to visit - but plan to bring your own wine and pay whatever the corkage is - because that's the only way you will be satisfied with your wine selection.

Usually we go here for happy hour and would still highly recommend that, dinner...not so much. They were out of the daily soup special (clam chowder) at 7:45, not good planning. The dining room menu is over priced when you compare to what you can get in the bar. Also, the dining room was freezing. Go for happy hour, but save you money for another choice if you’re going for a nice dinner .
