Family friendly early dinner before the theater. Very friendly service.
Service was great and very accommodating. Fun place to hang out as a family, have some good food and drinks. Only negative was not many Irish beers for an Irish pub.
Food and service was great. Cozy little table upstairs in front overlooking the street and sheltered from the bar area, very private feel.
Great service, great food.
Everyone was very pleasant. After our lunch I ordered a tea, our waitress could tell I was a little under the weather, and she asked if I wanted some lemon and honey to go with it, which was very much appreciated.
Great atmosphere and good service.
Visited NYC and wanted to watch soccer matches with my teenage son on Sunday. Everything was very good. (Didn't see upstairs.) Wings, fries, burger all delicious. Nice that teenager could go in. Had initially looked at Smithfield Hall bar and was told under 21 weren't allowed.
Went before a show at Gershwin theater. Great choice just across street. Good food and drinks
dined at McHale's after attending a play, the atmosphere was vibrant and friendly.
The Nachos were delicious!
I had a hamburger that I ask for med/well and was more rare than even medium. The waitress did offer after I had to say something about it to cook it more but with time being a issue to get to a show we needed to get to I could not wait for them to cook it the way I ask for when ordering.
McHale's Bar and Grill is the perfect place for a pre-theatre meal. It's right across the street from the Gershwin Theatre. The service was attentive and the food was a good value for NYC. Highly recommended all around.
Great Experience with the best view. Right Across from Wicked.
Stopped for lunch before Wicked. It appeared that they were short of help, so the service was slow (it took 3 visits to the table just to deliver our drinks) , but also among the most unfriendly I have ever received. While my salad was decent (although the cheese was fried), my friend’s cobb salad looked to be made with lettuce past its prime. My other friend was served the special Irish breakfast without the baked beans that were to be included. We felt badly for the waitress to some extent, and weren’t complaining, but we cannot recommend this restaurant.
Perfect place for a before or after theatre bite. Attentive staff, lots of choices of entrees and appetizers to fit your mood or a picky guest. Can’t go wrong at this pleasant midtown spot. Best Guinness this side of the Atlantic!
Great service, food was slightly better than traditional pub grub. The house beers were good, a nice touch.
Spacious and welcoming! McHale's is a fitting resting spot for travelers and locals, alike! Stick to basics on menu & on tap for best value.
Service was phenomenal, food was ok -- very limited menu, even for a bar. But we came here for a quick pre-show meal and the waitress was fast, efficient and extremely helpful. Recommend for pre-theater dinner or drinks with a large group, if you mostly prefer burgers and chicken.
We were going to the Gershwin Theatre across the street so the location was perfect. I had the spinach salad and asked for no beets which it came with. The server was good enough to comp us a glass of wine for the inconvenience. I also did not like the salad dressing which wasn’t the fault of the restaurant, just my taste buds. The other people in my party were very satisfied with their meal.
Decent, standard NYC pub fare. But an iced tea was $5. A little steep
I thought the restaurant had a nice atmosphere overall. It was a little noisy but not so much that I couldn't carry on a conversation. The service was efficient - we had more than one server checking in on us. We were going to a show and got our food promptly and had plenty of time with a 6 pm reservation on a Saturday to eat a leisurely meal. The food was okay but I felt like the menu was pretty limited. I settled a Caesar Salad to which I added shrimp which was overcooked. Well priced for the quality and service, however.
Cozy pub with a nice menu.
Dinner and a show
Food was just okay
The food is very good, and the staff are very friendly. Best shepherd's pie I've had in a really long time!!
Food was great. Waitress was fairz
Great ambiance great location if ur doing the theatres or the 5 th ave walk
Average place. Add 30-40% to the prices listed on OpenTable, they must be outdated.
Our server, Liam was AMAZING!
I’ve been to McHale’s several times but this by far was the best experience. One of their lite lagers was recommended and by far one of now top choices. I tried a specialty non-beef burger and it was fabulous! The server was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We definitely will continue to frequent McHale’s
Friendly, fun place with plenty of TVs
Saw the great reviews and decided to check it out but was disappointed. My friend enjoyed her buffalo mac and cheese. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. The burger had an onion flavor, and the waitress informed me the hamburgers have onion in the mix. I wish I would have known that before I ordered. The waitress was very understanding, friendly, and accommodating about the situation. I ordered a chicken parm sandwich with the sauce on the side (in case I didn't care for it). The chicken was decent but there wasn't much cheese and the bread was eh. My friend and I agreed the fries tasted like they were frozen, so I barely had any. To top it off, we ordered sodas and they didn't taste great either, but we didn't want to make a big deal about it. Wish we would have since the sodas were $5 each. I know this is NYC, but $5 is ridiculous, especially when we were there during happy hour and a beer was $6. Hope others have a better experience, but we will not go back.
Great place just off Times square and Broadway. The food was authentic and the service was excellent. Vary reasonable prices for NY. The restaurant was very clean and neet . Their house Old Fashioned was the best.
The food was a little expensive and soda did not have unlimited refills. The buffalo chicken Mac and cheese was really spicy and could not be eaten. Thought the waitress would take it off the bill and she did not, even though we told her it was too spicy for my boyfriend's daughter to eat. We were not impressed with this restaurant.
Food was bland and rushed when the place was half full at lunchtime. We have been here before and the food was top notch especially the burgers and wings. This time both were honestly not very good.
Met before show. Food was going and service was good. The prices were good for the quality especially for Manhattan. Would definitely go again
Inexpensive for NYC. Food was not special but then again, it's a pub . Service was quick and friendly. Sat at upstairs window which was nice.
Loud people swearing at the bar. The service was good.
Good value for the $$. Waitress very nice and accommodating. Mac and cheese a little bland
Our to-do place when in midtown. Does not disappoint.
Despite having reservations sat at high top table in bar-no air conditioning told dining room packed
Surly waitress could not crack a smile we will not be back
