McHale's Bar & Grill
Our to-do place when in midtown. Does not disappoint.
Despite having reservations sat at high top table in bar-no air conditioning told dining room packed
Surly waitress could not crack a smile we will not be back
One of our favourite restaurants in New York. Great atmosphere, great food and great service.
Great place in the heart of Times Square. I made reservations to watch the USA women’s WiFi’s cup game. We had a table in the back in front if s big tv. Great atmosphere. We just appetizers, which were good. Fast friendly service.
I thought the place was good! But a bit pricey
We enjoyed our food very much and the service was prompt and friendly. My only complaint is that it was a bit noisy, but we were in the bar. I would definitely go back!
We had reservations because of time issues to see broadway show. Didn’t appear we needed them. Rarely go to New York and the food was good without the weird ingredients that most New York restaurants seem to want to add to a basic meal. Price was very reasonable for theater district. Server was very friendly.
In town for a show and McHales was nearby.
I ordered a cheeseburger which was hard as a rock. Ate as much as I could. Salad was good. In NY for the day to see the Cher Show.
Decent menu and tasty food surpassed only by the excellent service. Our waitress was attentive without being intrusive and didn't hesitate to ask the kitchen for a variation of one of the dishes we ordered. We were visiting NY from MD to take in a couple of plays. We knew nothing of McHale's except from a few reviews we read. We wanted a eatery in or close to the theater district. Couldn't have worked out better. Another pre-theater dinner at McHale's certainly will be in our plans for our next excursion
My daughters and I enjoyed a delicious lunch. Your staff was very accomodating.
It was a fun stop before heading to the theatre! Our waitress was very responsive, and the staff checked with me regarding allergies listed on my account. Great experience, recommend!
Our favorite go to spot when we are in NYC. Great food great atmosphere wonderful service
A good Irish pub.
Curry fries were very good. Salad, salmon were good. Burger was good, but was over cooked -
asked for rare, came out medium well... Desserts were outstanding!
We were greeted and seated promptly when arriving and our order was taken rather quickly. The ambiance of the place is nice. Lots to look at.
Our food arrived after only a short wait and then we never saw the wait staff again. Food was medium. My niece had the chicken nuggets and they were very bland. I had the hamburger sliders and you could tell there was spice but definitely needed more. The pop was flat. No carbonation. A person at the table behind us got up to go find our waitresses. I think that was the only reason we ever got our bill!
Great service and good food. Pre show lunch and it was just right.
Good for drinks and appetizers. The dinner menu was very limited. Our entrees were good, but not much to choose from.
The pretzel appetizer very good. Had a good burger and cheesecake! The waitress was sweet and paid alot of attention to us, she always knew just what we needed! Definitely going again!
Very convenient to the theater. Good food and service. Reasonable prices and good choice for us before our play.
Very friendly service, my ten year old actually told our service "that was the fastest service ever!" Food was very good, I had the Dubliner the special and the provolone sticks as an app. I was a little surprised/disappointed that the dining is all up a flight of stairs. I met with an elderly friend and was afraid he wouldn't make it up there. He did, but not without effort. I wish when the reservations was made and I mentioned it I would have been contacted somehow. I'm sure if I had booked on the phone I would have been. Bathrooms were clean. Staff attentive and food very good. A little on the expensive side, but for the area, I can't complain.
Our waitress Marita? was OUTSTANDING! She was sweet, on top of it all and was very attentive. Steak salad was fabulous, veggie burger was delicious and the hamburger was wonderful. Too bad I didn;t have enough time for us to grab dessert! We were upstairs where there was a LOUD group of women and our server was more than accommodating to move us to the front section. A little chilly, but worth it!
Food was tasty, nothing exceptional for a Shephard's Pie that was suggested by the waitress.
Wait staff was slow to come to the table for the first time and the restaurant was still slow. I noticed this at another table in the same section.
This place was very meh. I wasn't impressed. Over priced for the quality, we only went here because we made dinner reservations too late.
The food was ok, but they need to update their open table menu. Prices at the place were a full $5 more than what we saw on the open table app menu for this restaurant. It was an Irish Pub. Wished they had Irish Stew on the menu.
Went to the theatre
Always a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner, socialize, grab a drink, or watch a game on tv. This is the closest this neighborhood has to a "neighborhood bar" and its become a go-to for locals and their visitors from out of town to catch up while in the theater district. Great burgers, and their roast chicken can not be beat. Good Irish food specials augment the burgers and salads and are terrific.
Service is top notch, friendly, and efficient. Can get very loud during happy hour or if a big game is on tv, when the bar areas upstairs and downstairs fill up with revelers.
Great little theater district pub - good food, comfortable atmosphere and great service.
Outstanding food outstanding service definitely will be returning to this restaurant
We really like the looks of the place and was seated in the front second floor window which was wonderful. Unfortunately for us, we sat next to a group of older women who had foul mouths and enjoyed being rude and loud under a low ceiling area. I imagine the hostess did not realized it but for us it was too bad. Also unfortunately my burger was like a hockey puck. Still, it was very popular place so it was just bad timing on our part :(
Looking forward to going back. Excellent food. Excellent Service
Fun sports bar with tv's, dart boards, and high top tables. The waitress was friendly and did a great job. The food was just ok - nothing fancy. The inside was spacious and not crowded, but the bathroom was freezing!
Chose this restaurant due to proximity to Gershwin theater. Big mistake. We were seated next to a party 10-12 and nearest to us very young children who were undersupervised by the adults at the other end of their party. Very noisy, very inappropriate.
We chose a Sat special Winter Salad which was greens, cranberries, walnuts and a most disgustedly tangy vinagrete dressing. I would not choose McHales again. They couldn’t do anything about the children but they should have realized seating two older customers near them would not be ideal.
Looking for a place to go after a show. Good solid choice. We went pretty basic and enjoyed our choices. Sesame ginger wings as starter were excellent. We also enjoyed fsh and chips and burger ordered.
“Famous Irish Curry” =Frozen veggies mixed with rice and curry powder. Gross
Kids bowl of pasta is &16!! Insane
Chose McHale’s because of its close proximity to the play Wicked. Brought our family of 6 there for a pre-play lunch. I was disappointed with my food choice. I ordered their “famous curry” rice dish with chicken. The chicken was cubed with grill marks but tasted hard and dense seeming like canned or old meat. The taste of the curry sauce on rice was good but the chicken was not edible for me. The others had basic pub food and met expectations. We sat upstairs at the window that overlooks the street which we would recommend. Would we return? Yes if we wanted a burger and Guinness.
Going to the theatre and wanted to catch a quick dinner. The service was fast and the food was good with just the right size portions. First time at this restaurant and I would recommend it highly.
Good food. Pricey. Be prepared to pay.
Food was okay but not great. Chicken Fingers were more like Boneless chicken breast’s. Too thick and not enjoyable. Service was mediocre since waitress forgot the steak on a steak salad. Drinks were okay.
Lovely place. Even though it’s a pub they had some really fun modern choices. Will definitely flight again
