Youngest son’s 1st prom. After following them to take pics we made a reservation through Open Table at the last minute!! Enjoyed!!
Salad was not good
Not sure how to answer, but waiter was good except for over charging for appetizers. Which I brought to his attention, he corrected. Our occasion was a birthday dinner for a close friend and his wife. He order 16oz KC special steak. It was chewy and poor flavor. The rest of us had halibut which was dry and over cooked. We arrived early and were seated promptly, they were not busy while we were there. Our drinks were good cocktails and wine. Surprised with bill over $300.00 we did not have dessert . Noticed we charged a liquor tax at bottom of our bill.
We probably will not be returning to McGills.
Should of went to The Ridge which I have never had a bad anything!
Almost empty at 8:30 on Saturday night. Should have been first clue. Cuts of meat and quality was not good. Bread wasn't good. Baked potato was tasty. Asparagus was okay. I used to frequent here often many years ago. I will likely not return. Outback down the street is better experience and quality. Disappointing. Server was friendly.

We so enjoyed our couples date at McGills. We had the specials, pecan crusted halibut with lobster sauce - off the charts good, and the petite filet with scallops - again the steak was done to perfection and the scallops perfect. Can’t say enough good things. Great wine selection, food and service from Cole.

The food is always outstanding at any McGills. This weekend we dined at the 61st and Yale location. Steaks and halibut were outstanding and we were served by probably one of the best servers named Gregory. Very professional and very attentive to our party of four!

McGills Was a delightful place for lunch and our server, Rodney, was an absolute joy. Rodney truly made the experience comfortable and kept us informed on the daily menu.

Food cold bread pudding just not up to standards
The staff was wonderful! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and everyone that served us wished us a happy anniversary and congratulated us on 25 years. This is not a quiet restaurant, it was busy with lots of people enjoying the wonderful food and service. We were not rushed at all. We had an appetizer, entrees and dessert, all of which were wonderful. We received a free creme brulee because it was our anniversary! I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion when you want great food and great service.
The prime rib was excellent. The garlic mashed potatoes, however, were very dry and heavy, and had very little garlic flavor. The vegetables were too ordinary. Anybody can steam some cut up broccoli, zuchini and green beans. My expectations are for more imagination.
Comfortable as an old shoe
Visited here many times over the years and it is consistently accommodating. Can be noisy, and dimly lit, but feels cozy. We had French onion soup. Delicious, but a whole lot of cheese and crouton,and not much liquid soup...very filling. We split a wedge salad, the dressing was not impressive, but OK. My wife had a filet that she enjoyed, and I had the lobster pasta that was absolutely awesome. Much more lobster meat than they could have gotten away with, for only $22. Definitely a most excellent pasta dish. We ordered 2 glasses of a Malbec, which was bad. When we advised our server she did not offer to replace it, too busy getting to the next table. So we will go back afpgain, but will probably eat at some other restaurants before then
KC Strip was so tough. We reported to our server & they offered to replace but we declined. Really, who wants to eat after rest of party is almost finished?
Our service was sketchy from start to finish. I would love to like this restaurant but just disappoints.

great service and treasured friends. We expressed to our server that we really wanted to take our time and enjoy our evening and our wish was respected. We all enjoyed our evening very much.
My wife and I went there for our 48th wedding anniversary. The waiter was both friendly and professional. The wife ordered steak and lobster. I ordered the prime rib - a BIG mistake. My wife very much enjoyed her meal, although she said that the steak was just OK. On the other hand, my prime rib was the worst I have ever tried to eat. It was so tough and full of gristle that I had to saw at each bite for at least twenty seconds. Secondly, the cut was only marginally warm when served. Had this not been a very special occasion I would have sent it back. Perhaps that's what the proprietors of this establishment count on, special occasions have a way of keeping the complaints down. I was able to eat only about a third of the prime rib before my jaws gave out from the chewing effort. I took the remainder home and gave it to my dog. He loved it. Yes, I would recommend this establishment to my friends, but only with the caveat that they DO NOT order the prime rib.
We were there on a Sunday evening so a lot of the above is not applicable. We had the lobster and steak special and thought it was very good and a great price!
My husband’s bday...
I was looking for a special place to take my Dad for his birthday. McGills fit the bill.
Open Table worked to get the time and type of table I requested, the service was very good and even offered to charge my cell phone as the battery was dying. Which was needed to take a few pictures of the evening.
Food was very good, timing of food delivery was very good and the ambiance was perfect - quiet and upscale.
It is a steakhouse so expect elevated pricing but with that in mind, it was an enjoyable evening.
The service was great, very friendly and helpful. The only thing lacking in the food was the dinner salad. Lettuce was very wet and tasteless. Atmosphere was great, almost felt like we were the only ones in the room. Quiet enough to carry on a casual conversation. Will be back sometime.
Not great! Ordinary at best! Crab legs were tough, cold, flavorless. Mash potatoes were cold and flavorless. Steak had good flavor once it came out. Server missed entered order and we got prime rib instead of filet.
Have eaten at McGills personally and as business lunch and have ALWAYS found everything to be spectacular.
The food might actually be very good, although I do not believe that our waiter did a good job of relaying our wishes to the kitchen staff. Our waiter was the primary issue and he seemed to be disinterested for most of the evening. I ordered the prime rib medium rare and he brought me a piece that was very obviously medium to medium well. When I commented on this he initially told me it was the lighting in the restaurant that was making it appear overdone and then told me it was because they finished the prime rib by dipping it in Au jus and this stained the meat. He told my husband that there is no grading system with beef anymore. We did not bother to tell him that we are cattle producers. He never offered to replace the prime rib nor did he offer to correct my husband's steak which was very obviously not a prime cut of beef, which is what mcgills advertises. Our crab legs were very waterlogged. Lastly, he did offer us a complimentary dessert to make up for the steak and the prime rib that were not prepared correctly, although he did not offer to correct these mistakes either. We ordered a piece of carrot cake which was delicious and he did not miss a beat in putting it on our bill.
Service very attentive and good knowledge of specials.
Service was good however, my large fillet was over cooked. I requested medium (warm, pink center) but it was well done. Same issue with my friends steak.
