McGill's on 21st Ratings and Reviews
I had planned for a quiet birthday celebration for two. The food, service, and wine was good. However, the amount of noise from the other patrons was far too much. My party of 2 could not have a normal conversation due to the noise level. For a date night/birthday celebration, I was very displeased. I do not know if I will go back. Entirely too loud.
We had made a reservation for a date night, and they squeezed us into a 2 top with club chairs behind a table with the same set up. The space was so tight the other party kept bumping into/moving my chair every time they moved. On both sides of us, they were seating parties of 3 at the 2 tops with club chairs pulling and extra chair up. There were plenty of tables open when we were there. I’m not sure why they needed to pack everyone in.
I was also disappointed in the menu change. We went there specifically so I could have coconut shrimp, and they no longer serve it. I understand menu changes, and found something else to order, but the overall experience was definitely not what we have been accustomed to over the years I’ve been dining at McGills.
We went her to celebrate finishing radiation treatments at St. John. We had a wide range of ages and tastes. Everyone found several items on the menu that they liked. The food was great. Our meals ranged from surf and turf to lobster pasta. The service was excellent. The atmosphere by the burning fireplace was fabulous. It was a fitting way to celebrate. We would definitely go back!
I had reserved a table for 4 but at the last minute there were two extra in our party. On arrival we were greeted at the door and explained we now had more than originally thought. This was not an issue and we were escorted to a lovely table for 6. Our wait staff - Amy - was fabulous and explained everything and waited on us in a timely manner without being too invasive. The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious.
McGill's in a solid dining experience and we like to take our international visitors there when they come to see us.
Food was great but the service was bad, first our server took forever to take our order initially then after we received our food she never came back and checked on us, the manager passes by and asked how the food was and then said he could bring us more bread and of course that never happened so we left there with a bad experience and will not return
The food is far from worth the cost. I would much rather spend an extra $10 and go to Fleming’s. The steak and the roasted red potatoes were dry and flavorless, and my drink was left empty more than once. My date thought the asparagus was not properly seasoned, and was sad to see me spend so much money when I could have gotten a better (and much cheaper) meal at Charleston’s.
Surf and turf special was excellent. 1/2 pound of crab legs and a filet, pure perfection. Wife had the Alfredo with chicken also excellent. We went for our anniversary and we will be going back. Get what you pay for and it's definitely worth it. Service was excellent, our waitress, Grace, excellent.
Ordered the filet mignon medium rare. It was delivered over cooked. I was hesitant to return it, but I did. I have probably sent my food back twice in a decade.
A new meal was delivered with the filet still overdone and this time, the grilled veggies were crispy. I lost the energy to eat too many tough foods so I didn't eat. As a frequent diner, I expected more of this upscale restaurant.
This location can be a little difficult to find if your not paying attention, once inside it is very inviting and a great setting for a special occasion such as our anniversary. The food was very good, my wife enjoyed the surf and turf, and I had the pork chop. The only retraction from the evening was the applesauce glaze on the pork chop, if you like cinnamon I am sure it is amazing, unfortunatly, I can’t stand it. Although it was entirely my taste buds fault, the kitchen quickly remade the entire plate without the sauce and it was amazing! Grace was our server, and she took great care of us. She alone is worth a return visit!
It was our 31st anniversary. It was fairly quiet for a late weekend reservation (we drove in from OKC). The food was great, and the waitress was attentive. The avocado crab cocktail and my soup were excellent as was the steak. The prime rib was good, but not quite as tender as the steak. The drinks and wine we ordered were very good, too. An older couple was sitting close to us, and they were "breaking up", and we could hear their conversation. Not complaining, because it was amusing. When they left, another couple seemed relieved that they had left. We started talking, and found they were having their first wedding anniversary. The customers at McGill's are friendly (if they are not breaking up).
I did return a week or so later and enjoyed the bar atmosphere. You just feel at home at McGill's. I will return for a third time when I am back in Tulsa.
One of our favorite places to dine out. The food, ambiance, service are always wonderful. This was my wife's birthday celebration. We were fortunate to have one of our favorite out of town friends with us that have never been there. They thoroughly enjoyed the evening also.
Great menu, our steaks were served just as we requested. The ambiance was subdued, very intimate feeling, the service was remarkable, our hostess was knowledgeable, personable and professional. My wife and I had a very pleasant meal and delightful experience.
The Appetizers & salads were tasty. We enjoyed our main meals & appreciated the included vegetables & starches. The fish dishes might have cooked less & it would have been a nice addition to have EVOO as a bread condiment instead of just butter, plus some whole grain bread.
The service was perfect. Our waiter was attentive, asked for additional drink orders, etc. Another plus of this restaurant is that it is easy to hear & talk at the tables--very quiet atmosphere with comfortable chairs.
We visited McGills on our last evening of a business trip. Food was very good, prime rib & steak special. Wine list was average. Waitress was very meek & needed to be more attentive. Great atmosphere. Table next to us was watching a video streaming of a car race - which killed the ambiance, but wasn't the fault of the restaurant. I would return & visit the bar and/or dining area again.
